Good point about the pro that is busy and not having to dig into the technology. I don’t agree that an enthusiast or hobbyist shot only cats, dogs or children. This people are casual users and don’t buy dedicated camera but use their smartphone. The hobbyist take his hobby seriously and use his camera regularly. For instance wildlife photographers buy expensive lenses and camera for their hobby and use this equipment regularly and extensive but does not paid but does it for fun. Anyway another You Tuber that I need to subscribed.

In the beginning I made ALL the aforementioned stupid mistakes causing me to think: only gear companies are making any money in the photography space! Softboxes: I wish I had gone with Westcott as the popular budget brand is breaking too often. Strobes: I wish I had gone with pro-level lights because the popular budget brand is not durable and needs to be used with care; but sh*t happens and even though they are affordable, replacing them soon gets pricey, especially here in Canada as we devolve into a third world nation.

Very sound advise. What gets the job done gets the job done. Stay in your budget and push your skills to squeeze all the good out of the gear you can afford.

I feel most photographers and videographers just want the newest toy. And there are times when its really worth buying the newest toy if it makes your job better. But I've seen so many videos this camera is amazing. 99% of the time clients can't tell something filmed on a Micro Four Thirds camera to even a Arri Alexa when they are film silly small productions. Even if you have a sky that is blown out the owner of the store that hired you to shoot their gym for a ad won't even care.

It’s called we live in monetary lynch mob system AAAAANNDD PEOPLE NEEED MONEEEEEEEEY! If you can’t tell the difference between someone sharing their honest experience and someone with a hundred thousand plus subs only reviewing the latest gear for money that you aren’t paying them for their time and work to do it then, your duped and letting gear hunting be your outlet rather than your actual creative ideas. So, less pissing and moaning, and more actual creative work. That’s how the monetary system ruins the true purpose of creativity, b/c if your not getting paid for it your just broke.

You know there is a word for people who judge others based on their skin colour. I stopped watching as soon as you mentioned the guys skin colour. This is definitely an Uneducated Review! Why he went to the trouble? I don't know? Maybe just felt like he had to get on TH-cam to get thumbs up and show his bunny skills as a reviewer. A lot of the these people that give these Camera Reviews have no idea what they are talking about. These are cross dresser from Sony, Canon. Nikon and all other brands. Not the slightest idea. And the guy that gave him camera is just about as dumb. And that go's for any Sony, Canon. Nikon and all other brands Revisers. What he like and didn't like about camera and Misinformation about the rest.

Your comments about editing video got me thinking of the convenience of a camera that can shoot how you want it to look with little to no editing. What camera do you find that delivers the color / look you like without much to no grading? Your videos look great and the audio is great.

You can play around with dynamic range priority setting as well. I like to keep it at "low". With an S9 supposedly a setting called "lut opacity" will come - it is exactly what you want, intensity slider. It will only be rational if they add it to other bodies with a firmware.

I do everything on an iPad and love it. Don’t want anything else.

It really feels like you'd have to fit the in-camera adjustments to the LUT for each scene. For a studio or very controlled lighting it would reach the set it and forget it stage. Though vlogging might be much harder to do due to how often or quickly the lighting can change.

I too came from Fuji and currently own an S5iix, I know how to use the luts in video, idk who to use them in photo. A video showing how wouldn’t be a bad idea

I think people need to watch the video of the man that you are talking about so we can all come up with our own conclusions. I watched his video. He did say something about TH-camrs and professional photographers and people can easily interpret it on one way or another so let people watch it and let people come up with their opinions. Man you got me thinking now if I should even start my TH-cam Channel LOL. I am a a beginner (Almost 3 Months) and was going to basically start a channel For Amateur's from An Amateur. But no reviews, just what I went through so far to hopefully help someone who is also starting out... I am a hobbyist, not a pro LOL. I will not saying that in my videos... if I decide to go with it. Yeah, a digital native may actually have a more informed opinion on a DIGITAL camera than an old guy. Full disclosure: I'm an old guy (well, middle-aged).

Great video Chris, you voiced a lot of my frustrations with the "get off my lawn" types on youtube.

Vivian Maier was a pro for decades and no one ever heard of her until after she died and her corpus was discovered. The term is moot. Anyone committed to this visual art is a pro. Vivian likely communicated her thoughts on the cameras she used, including: a Kodak Brownie ( I learned on one with my grandfather) then several Rolleiflex. I'm sure she had a lot to say about the shutter issues they experience and how they impacted her exposures. YT is full of real artists intent on sharing process as well as legions of carpet baggers.

Honestly I think the iPad is fantastic with something like Luma and the quick workflow stuff that’s just for quick content or personal stuff. It’s so easy to do in bed, the car, airport, bathroom, etc. Everything else, desktop. If you’re FCPX user, you can export from Luma and open up in FCPX. You definitely don’t need all the extra accessories, either. Bluetooth headphones, maybe.

when I became a photographer, it did not make me a pro, but it really does not make sense that someone needs to be a pro photographer to review a camera, you just have to be good a reviewing a device.
