The z8 is insane. I love everything about it and the colors are perfect. It’s almost too much camera if that makes sense. It does literally everything and then some. Almost feels future proof.
@@petersuvara right on! Thanks my friend. This camera is INSANE! It’s funny to introduce zero blackout, but I agree with Chris here that sometimes I’m not sure if I took the photo. Being able to turn that back on is a silly, but I guess we’ve gotten used to some kind of blackout. Great review and thanks for the tip Peter!!
I’d say this is very much like a full-frame X-H2/s. Kind of like a blend of all the good things about the x-h2s with the higher megapixel count, but in full-frame!
@@Christellezphoto Nikon’s products are very attractive. I’ve been happy very with my X-H2s but with the new Z6 III being same price… I’d probaby go that route if I was starting my kit. Larger and pricier lenses would give me pause tho...
I’ve only played with the Z8 at camera stores, but yes, I agree, it’s a great camera, no doubt! The Z9 is also a great camera, but for me, it’s too big and heavy. Compared to the Z6ii and Z7ii, the Z8 is a little too big and heavy, but it’s much better in that regard than the Z9.
I’ve been considering picking a new z8 for shooting sports and video or getting a used R3…have you had any time with an R3? Is it significantly bigger of a camera?
Shot some BTS with the R3 last week but that was it. It’s bigger, no doubt. But it’s SO light for its size, I was shocked. When I worked at the camera shop we never had an R3 demo so I didn’t really get enough time with it to offer a solid opinion. BUT the BTS shoot last week made me fall in love basically right away. It was everything I loved about the 1DX just way better and lighter. Having said that, you definitely have to factor the physical size and that’s where the Z8 is so impressive
I had no idea the Z8 didn't have a mechanical shutter! This seemed odd until I looked up the readout speed, but does this preclude using flash with the camera? I'm a little hazy on the finer mechanics of flash, but most cameras require mechanical shutter for flash.
You can still use flash, but from what I know, the sync speed won’t allow for high speed sync… though I could absolutely be wrong about that. But I was shooting on-camera direct flash with zero issues
@@Christellezphoto Good to know. Thank you. Looks like it does have high-speed-sync up to 1/8000. They call it "Auto FP" I think. Lumix used to call it FP too, standing for 'focal plane'. No one seems to know why. Anyway, some clever engineering in these new electronic shutter designs.
@@linassapnagis2174 that is true but problem is in LCD view you have to go - exposure which then gives really bad experience shooting because its to dark
Bloody hell, that background musak is really annoying and helps to obscure what you’re saying. Would you make videos where you talk but without the racket which should be in the background but isn’t.
Slow down and speak more clearly, specially when this is a serious technical review where a lot of money is involved. So you could have more LIKES and less NO LIKES

Very much a future proof camera 👌👌👌
You can enable visual feedback on photo if you want in the camera, just need enable it.
Oh snap! That’s huge. Thank you! Too bad I already gave it back to Nikon 😅
How does one enable this feature? And what is it?
@@thegravelist d14. Release timing indicator.

The nikon z8 insane in every aspect best camera in the market right now
How did it make you feel about the X-H2s? I see so much chatter about jumping from Fuji to ____ because of firmware mangling the autofocus.

Love it. Best camera, especially for the price point.
Love the z8.

How is the auto focus compared with sony a7rv? Is it sticky or it hunts.Hi my fellow Canadian and greetings from Montreal.
Good question! I’ve had about 5 minutes with the a7RV but I would just assume the Sony is a little stickier!

@@Christellezphoto You can use flash exactly the same way you would use it in any other camera with a shutter - HSS and all.
Yeah after looking into it, I saw that was the case! Like I said, I had zero issues with using flash! Thanks for clarifying!
@@Christellezphoto Shut speed up tp to 32,000 in sun light and if you can find a flash that good. LOL I would say that's HSS.
It makes no sense to wish the camera had a mechanical shutter, when you get some gains and lose nothing with the electronic shutter in the Z8.
Ok 🙂↕️
Those images 😍😍
Z8 - undoutedly brilliant
£2500-£2800
I'll wait till it's £1500, used
wish there were sigma art glass for it. I’d swap from sony
That Tamron 35-150 is pretty dope though
It seems that the Z6 III is always one day away. ;)
Nikon biggest problem is highlight recovery they blow out to fast compared to all other camera manufacturers
Interesting! I haven’t had that experience with this camera but I’d be curious to push that more and find out for myself.
That’s true, but you can recover from shadows really nicely, that’s why I tend to use minus exposure to get highlights not blow out 😊
