    Southend new structure, I believe could be a fire station, The overhang sort of gives it away, there should be another level for admin restrooms, sleeping areas, training, spares storage and canteen, then a level with water tanks. Probably wrong, but the overhang is not a real functional piece of the building other than to protect people from rain or rain ingress into the structure. Could also be a part of the boring tunnel around the building to transport workers, look how close it is to the parking structure. So it could be a station and the north-east and west where they are removing concrete from the slab could be where different stations are, possibly being placed with lifts down to the tunnel. Might also be for materials transport around the site, but I would take a wild guess it is for workers as it is so close to the parking structure. If the new structure to the north-east of the building gets similar construction, similar pilings, then I think the cat is out of the bag. Or it could be for both staff and materials transport. I believe if we see some gantry construction materials then it will be almost guaranteed as boring tunnel stations, I always wondered why they would only build a few hundred meters of tunnel from one side of the free way to the other, it would have been much more cost-effective to build a bridge. It took months to prepare the boring machine and get it working, why waste that with only a few hundred meters of tunnel when it now being set up could travel all over the site at not much more cost other than materials. My two cents worth.

      The most cost effective approach is to not waste money on a tunnel. The guy who owns the place claims that self driving is "just around the corner". Of course, he's been claiming that every year since 2015! If there were any truth to what he says, there would be no need for a tunnel. The vehicles would be able to drive themselves to the other side. Personally, I don't see any practical use for 12' tunnels anywhere. Except perhaps pedestrians or to carry utilities. As for transporting workers around the site.... Buses are far cheaper and more efficient. Just my opinion on Boring company tunnels.

    The amount of tunnelling can be metered by how far the bottom of cassette rollers move up. Then they will reset by putting another segment from the spare belt that is on the girder. The cassette makes it possible for reach to be infinitely variable without any slack. That's my guess.

    If you look at the cassette for the coveter belt it is rather easy to see how far the boring tunnel has advanced, I think they have used three of the vertical conveyor segments, determine how long each segment is from top to bottom x by 3, and you will be roughly in the ballpark of how far they have bored. I think about 150 meters so far, roughly.

    Prufrock tunnel. Approx 240 stacks of 3x segments on site. Enough for 180m of tunnel. Still at least 40+m worth of segments to deliver.

    Saw a new Model 'Y' in my grocery store lot today. OMG, how beautiful it is in blue. Very impressive. I was actually embarrassed for my own ICE car. lol But, I don't think I could ever give up a Model 'Y' to become a robotaxi. It's too beautiful to 'put out on the street'. lol

      @@BTSloan70 Electric crawler cranes and piling equipment are becoming more common, as they tend to stand in one place for extended periods. Tunnelling and mining have been using electric and electric/hybrid machinery for decades.

    Yesterday, there was a white SUV on top of the parking garage which tells us that the parking garage is at least partially able for vehicles to drive up thru all the floors to the roof. It wont be much longer before employees will be parking in it. I'm taking bets on June 1st. !

    Thanks Brad! Concrete project by the easement: @ 1:16 It will be interesting to see how open the top deck will be once they start laying rebar. Parking garage: @ 2:41 (Bottom right), 2:46 (Bottom right), and 2:55 (Bottom left) All vault covers on the vaults. Electrical work likely done for now. New power supply to the factory: @ 14:46 (Right, by the building) Vault cover removed. Excavator removing sections of the slab around the vaults. These vaults may have to be reworked. There are only 8 conduits going into the building from each vault. The new duct-banks contain 12 conduits each! @ 13:18 Ongoing work to construct new duct-banks, duct-banks connected to the vaults. @ 13:26 (Bottom) New vaults ready to be placed. @ 13:32 (Bottom) Stormwater pipe finally competed after demolishing part of the old duct-bank from the temporary substation. Loading cable from demolished duct-bank onto trailer. @ 13:40 (Bottom) Appears to have been some hydrovac excavation along the duct-bank alignment.

      Mr Johnson I am not an expert on electricity….how much electricity is that going to be with 12 conduits? I can’t imagine the cost of all that electricity! BTW I just wanted to say that I find your comments on the construction of the power to the factory interesting. Even though as someone that doesn’t understand most of what you are talking about!

      @@michaeljohnson1805Thanks. I have some knowledge of this stuff but I'm not an expert. But we do have electrical experts on here who can chime in and correct me if I make a mistake. Calculating power in this case is an estimate. Because to calculate power you have to know the voltage and the current carrying capacity of the cables. From the interconnection agreement, we do know the voltage. Which is 24.9 kV (24,900 volts). However, we don't know the exact current carrying capacity of the cables. Each of those conduits caries a 3 phase circuit with 3 cables. I can give you a guess or estimate of perhaps 10 megawatts per conduit? Again, the experts can jump in if my estimate is high or low. Here is another comparison that may help... Currently the factory is served by two duct-banks with 8 conduits each. With only 7 conduits in each duct-bank actually being used. So the new duct-banks will have 150% more capacity than the existing duct-banks to the factory. One more clarification..... While there are two existing main power duct-banks, and.... Two new duct-banks being constructed.... In other words there are actually 24 conduits being added. We count only 12 because the system is designed to be redundant. So they can shut down one duct-bank for service without interrupting factory operations. By the way, that redundancy starts at the transmission lines, extends all the way through the substation, and the duct-banks to the factory.

    8:02 It looks to me like the bottom of the belt cassette is raised half-way, so they've used up half the spare conveyer belt. As the boring machine digs farther into the tunnel, a longer belt is needed to convey the dirt out, so the cassette slowly raises as the machine goes forward. When they run out, they'll attach the spool positioned above the belt, extending the length, and lowering the cassette back down to store the excess until it's needed. I figure you can estimate the distance they've dug by multiplying the height they've raised the cassette by the number of belt switchbacks in the cassette, but I'm bad at that sort of spacial estimation, so I won't guess a number. [Or at least that's my understanding of the process; if I got anything wrong, please let me know.]

      I made it 26 up and down, but remember the belt in the tunnel goes in and out. So 1m tunnel requires 2m belt. Hence 26x

      I’m no expert on conveyors but I have seen them going round curves (large radius) and on slow vertical curves. This is handled by having rollers at the sides and on top at the edges respectively. The conveyed material runs in the centre so small rollers on top at the sides of the belt should do it.

      I think the Cybertrucks will sell, but they will hit a wall when sales tumble, just as they have for the s and x. I don't believe there is much demand once the first million or so are sold. In my humble opinion the Cybertruck is really a status symbol, it gets attention wherever it is seen, and mostly the first buyers were popular social media or famous singers and actors.

      🤔 Sometime i get a nostalgia for your original style of fix position watching. It is great to see an overview, but it's good to watch a process for a bit to get a sample of the doing that is going on, the real people, digging a ditch or laying roofing. It makes you feel more present on site and connected with the people and activities. Plus, watching other people work is very relaxing.

A large dump trucks seen dumping there in Brad's 11 April video at 8.43 In Airwave Dynamics video from 19 April, a dump truck with a load of spoil from the TBM is seen turning towards that location. 4.49 in that video. Not a lot to go on, but no where else on site seems to getting earth dumped. Certainly not going off site in those massive dump trucks.

      @@Bill_N_ATX Good catch! If you mean the light poles, I don't recall seeing them before either. Coverage hasn't been great in the past week because Joe had other things to do. The concrete bases, which are basically the tops of columns have been there but blend in with the concrete top deck.

    from 14:57 onwards: the Utility platform and its immediate environment next to Cathode looks reasonably tidy. Left over carton, woods, pieces of cable etc have been collected. This is a major change really, never seen before. Hopefully this is a sign that construction work is finished and a proper operations regime has started. As I write this there is no mention (yet?) of the Cathode Factory in the ongoing Shareholders mtg but we could make a reasonable guess if for instance cryogenics are loaded in the storage vessels anytime soon.

      @@BTSloan70 Agree, Brad! In fact it is an understatement if I recall that at the April 2023 Shareholders Q&A the erstwhile director Drew mentioned that "trial runs would begin next Quarter". Maybe some aspects of a cathode materials production line could have be tested, but nothing substantive happens there without the key utilities being available: electricity, NG, cooling cycles, dry air and Oxygen/Nitrogen perhaps also Argon and we all have seen how long that has been dragged on. Then there was a late design change when these utilities were also connected to the adjacent Die Shop (the pipelines under the road). But most importantly (just my own interpretation) is that the bottom has fallen out from under the internationally traded Lithium supply, mainly in the form of Spodumene, SC6. The financial incentives for setting up a company-owned Lithium supply route may have evaporated in the time following the April'23 announcement. Still, the IRA rules may provide some incentive for home made batteries, but I don't know in how far that involves the mentioned Lithium supplies & -processing. The most definitive sign of Action that I can suggest is loading liquid Oxygen in the storage vessels. That is related to necessary calcination steps. So far all the evaporators are at ambient temperature - no icing whatsoever has been noted and neither a visit by a supply truck. For completeness sake I may also add that the Cathode factory was originally intended for " Nickel Chemistries". Maybe the bulk Nickel-chemistries approach (requiring Cathode) may have been victim of a paradigm shift towards other chemistries. Then the Cathode setup may be (partially-) outdated even before trial production.
