My Medical Story: From Undergrad to a 4th Year Caribbean Med Student
มุมมอง 7K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi Guys! My name is Lizzii Le and this is just the story of my journey in medicine. I feel that sometimes on social media, you see only the surface. People graduating, celebrating, getting degrees. But there are stories behind every single one of those milestones. I just wanted to make my introduction into youtube by sharing my experience with trying to get my medical degree thus far. It has no...
I’m happy to hear this
Is it true majority of students at AUA are of Indian origin?
You are amazing. I got an admission in St Matthew’s Medical University. Thinking a lot about it
This was very informative! If you're looking for more detailed insights into Caribbean medical education, our channel has a lot to offer. Check out Saint James School of Medicine.
I’m watching your video because you are beautiful.
Hey, do you know of any full ride Scholarships that fund Caribbean universities?
The reason: 500 or more unfilled spots. Had to fill some spots somehow. Only reason. Very subpar EM residency class.
Are Caribbean med schools hard compared to US med schools?
Yes , she attended AUA , I attend there as well. Don’t like it
Hi Lizzi, I just found your channel, and the contents are very helpful. I would like to thank you for the great contents. I have a BSN in nursing and I work on a med-surge floor. I want to apply to a medical schools in Cribean. Will the nursing experience will to get me matched in the US? I am nervous about not matching back in the US.
I needed to hear this. I just started my USMLE journey. Thank you so much for the inspiration. I have a question as regards research. How can I be part of a research program. I’ve watched videos but it still seems unattainable .

do theycurve exams in carribean med schools?
Nope
What was the Dax wavier certification that you mentioned?
Thanks for the video. It was helpful 😊 As a carribean Medical school graduate, how possible is it to match a residency in anesthesiology in the US?
Does puerto rico count as carribbean med School, or USA med School?
Congrats Lizzi one question, how hard was it to get accepted? like how many times did you submit a residency application or went on interviews until you git it? thanks!
How any credits is each semester ? If a studnet fails couple courses do they all retake sir they kick out if we fail one class Since NYU dental school does that since it’s a Caribbean dental school that takes a lot of students and then fails them out if they fail just one course... Thanks waiting for your reply
Do you get residency in Radiology, Dermatology and Plastic Surgery into US if you pass out from Carribean school I have been told very remote limited chances to get one kindly let me know if this is true or false ....
It’s limited even if you go to a US school. Those are hard to get into to begin with
@@faisal4523 So completely ruled out
@@docali6729 I wouldn't say completely. I have a friend that went Caribbean and is now a plastic surgeon. It's going to be a lot harder, but nothing is impossible.
Hi What do you think about St.Martinus university
how did you get all of these various certifications? id like to know so i can get them too
I took acls and bls...long ago its expired but I migrated and lost proof of it..do I mention it? Plz and thanks
I remember seeing this video in the lead up to application season a year ago, it gave me the inspiration I needed as an IMG going into the whole crazy application process. I really didn't think matching in EM was going to happen for me. Now, I'm watching this one week before I start my intern year at my dream EM residency program. If you're reading this and you feel the same way I did a year ago, keep going, you can do it. You're a better applicant than you think and hard work is recognized and rewarded. Don't give up, everyone who was in your position before is pulling for you
Do you think now that Usmle step 1 is now pass fail, would that be a disadvantage for carrabean ed students to match in US
Congrats!!!
I saw your video now. I am from india.we have decided to join our daughter to join in St.Geroge in grenada.is it ok?Give your suggestions pls .
Thanks for this... Would you be kind enough to share your electives/observerships and also your LORs
Does AUA accept transfer from Ukraine?i have cleared my step1
So happy for u 😻 love from Pakistan
Congratulations Lizzii! This was so beautiful I cried. :) So happy for you two.
As an IMG i really really needed to hear this. I’ve read statistics about the probabilities you have to be accepted on the EM residency and i was soooo disappointed because thats my all life deam… now you recharged my battery 😄 btw congratulations for your match
Thank you for this video! found it at the right time <3 wishing you a wonderful career ahead!!
So is an IMG still an M.D?
IMG just means international medical graduate. meaning i didnt go to medical school in the united states! I am still an MD (medical doctor)
You're such a breath of fresh air. Thanks for this video
aww thank you so much!
you live alone?
where did you attend for undergraduate?you did that in 2 years?
Thank you !
I live in the Caribbean and I don't really have the finances to travel and go to a medical school abroad but I'm unsure if the schools here are good
This is inspiring! I am a U.S. Emergency Department RN and in my first year of medical school in the Caribbean. Big congratulations on matching!
Hi Abby! What school do you attend and how is it? I’m also an RN looking into Caribbean med schools.
@@nataleec18 Hey Natalee! I’m at Trinity on St. Vincent. Trinity is perfect for me because: 1. At the time, they didn’t required MCAT 2. At the time, I did their premed to MD track. They took into consideration all of the prereqs I completed, so I only had to complete 2 premed terms prior to matriculating into MD program. 3. The island is beautiful, people are kind, friendly students and faculty, nice/clean campus, security, daily/hourly school transportation 4. Third and fourth year clinical rotations are in one hospital system so I like that I don’t have to travel much 5. MD program is only 4 terms on the island and then the remainder are in the U.S. 6. Early exposure to clinical rotations (they begin in the first MD term) 7. Small class sizes Top reasons for me :)
Abby, that’s awesome. Thank you for replying!
@@nataleec18 you’re welcome!
how many residency programs did you apply to and how many programs sent you back an invitation for interview ? was it easy to match in general?
I sent around 150 apps, i got 12 interviews!
This was very inspirational. Thanks for sharing. 💛
Lizzie! Thank you too much for sharing your unique but powerful and impacting story.I truly resonate with you so much, it's crazy and I also go by Lizzie and also a knight...lol. God knows why we go through things, but it has only made you stronger and truly believe you are a great physician! God bless you and GO KNIGHTS!!! CHARGE ON!!!

i just want to say yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss bittttttttttttttttttttttttt. You killed it. The haters just mad because they couldn't talk to you, they talked about you. Love from a fellow Caribbean med student
Btw, how many interviews did you get from colleges?
