I’m new to this, can you prolong their life in the fridge?
No the fridge is too cold and will kill them eventually from my testing. I’ve found that in an esky with a frozen bottle to be best, so long as it doesn’t get too cold as well. And then make sure they got plenty of dry sound surrounding each worm 👍🏼
Just had day 2 of catching beach worms got 4 snap 3 heads. Will try your method looks more efficient for a new guy like me. Great explanation
That is cool...lucky to see them so close🤙🏿
noice. Thanks champion
Hey mate, I dont want to waste too much of your time but do you have any tips on choosing rock fishing spots? Ive been trying to go rock/beach fishing like 30 times and never caught a single fish. Not sure what im doing wrong. Located NSW. Thanks gor your time.
Always happy to help when I can mate, though I’m hardly a pro when it comes to chasing pelagics from the stones. But if I was new to an area I’d be looking on google earth for headlands and points I can get at, and if it’s a nice deep drop off and a reef bottom there’s a fair chance of bait fish being around and the bigger species passing through to hunt them. For beach fishing it’s half about finding good gutters to fish and then also using the right rigs and bait. I’d check out my beach tailor salmon and mulloway video for an easy and effective rig and how to spot gutters
@anglinguntangled mate you're a legend, thanks a lot.
No worries. But also, even better than what I’m telling you would be going in to the local tackle shop and asking for some advice (and don’t forget to spend a little bit of money)
When the fishing is that good, I’d drop back to a single hook, or your day is going to be over pretty quick 😂
That’d be the way to savour it 😂👍🏼
Very nice session off the rocks mate , I live half a days drive away so I don’t get over fishing the ledges or beaches much at all , so in the mean time I’m enjoying the videos till I get the chance to throw a line some day , awesome content mate , keep safe and tight lines 👍
Terry Tailor, is on a good thing as well, this is the best way by far to do your Flathead, i have been doing them your way since you first posted this video i have been telling other people to check your videos as well, PS ,love the flathead on the flats Vid. Cheers Chris.
Much appreciated Chris and glad to hear it’s working for you. Can take a little bit of practice but still back it as the best way to fillet them. Would be nice to get chasing dusky’s in another video soon! 🤞🏼
Love the vid when you fish for Jew with that rig do you use circle hook or what and do you use full drag or light drag to actually hook up I’ve had a lot of runs but never seem to hook up often.
Cheers Adam, for snelled hooks I’m still in the habit of using j hooks. The common opinion is that if you want to use a circle with snells, you only use it as the top hook and leave the bottom as j hook. Having a circle hook down in the bait may not slide as easily into the jaw as a circle hook is designed to do. But when using a single hook, which bridle rigging livebait is my favourite way of targeting mulloway, I use a circle hook. But regardless of hook choice and rig I have the drag set near full fighting drag. I think it’s much better to have it there and the fish mostly hook themselves upon hitting the bait rather than having it light and trying to let them run and swallow it. If you get a hit with j’s of course try and get to the rod asap and drive the hooks home
@@anglinguntangledthanks mate will definitely give that a go I’ve been letting them run a few times before trying to set the hook and seem to miss a lot so definitely trying that cheers man appreciate it.
Where is that location love to go there in kayak
Do they bite?
Given the chance they can but non painful. Very odd occassion they’ll be that plentiful and hungry they can bite your foot but usually when handing them
good tips bro
Great video bud. Im pretty sure i recognise the beach, but confirmation would definitely inspire me because thousands of casts, hooked basically everything except a jew. I don't want to go back to baits 😅
It’s a very popular spot but I won’t say exactly which one. Copped heaps of flack when I had where it was in the title - most of it complete nonsense. But one guy did have a good point so I chose to change it. It’s close to Newcastle and I’ve caught Jew off most of the beaches in the area, including the city ones. Jew are a scarce fish and you’re making it even harder by throwing baits in the surf but it also makes it that much more rewarding. Good luck mate!
Excellent video on Beach Worming.
Cheers mate
Shot man, someone sent me your video link. Thanks for the mention there. I am sure many of our styles would work over there. Good looking bait you got there!🤙🏻🍻
Cheers Xander and giving you a shout out is the least I could do. The cable tie livebait circle hook rig has become my go method for chasing our cob over here so thank you very much for taking the time to show off your methods. Always looking out for the next lakka video 😁 🍻
@ that’s great man!
If you remove the beak from the squid head then the tentacles will lay flat
Thanks very much Mate, excellent video. Always learn something valuable and different.
Cheers, glad you’ve enjoyed it mate and hopefully helps you get stuck into them
Stop trying to monetize your viewers, no one cares where you are so you don't need to blank out when you say where you are. So over TH-camr hack fisherman trying to monetize everything they do. #BORING
One point with burley is to throw it up current so by the time it sinks it where your float and bait is. I see so many people throw their burley in front of where they are fishing and it floats 50m downstream taking the fish with it.
Can you get beach worms in Western Australia. Are you referring to city beaches in the beach suburb in Perth?
I’m not too sure if they’re over west. I know they are around in South Australia. You’d reckon they’d survive fine so might have to start a colony if they’re not haha
Awesome
Hands not wet, fish on the rocks and sand, fingers in gills, dropped fish. All of those fish will be dead within a day or week.
Hey mate, I believe someone else commented similarly and I had no idea my actions would adversely affect the fish so much. Yes dropping fish is not good and to minimise this I place my thumb under they’re gill cover when holding to give the camera a better view, though I’m certainly not pressing my thumb into their gills. Would you have any resources I could read where fish die shortly after this has occurred, or from contacting dry sand/rocks or hands?
@anglinguntangled slime layer
That could be the worst handling of a trout I have ever seen. Just wow.
Whats the best way to look after squid after you have caught them ?
Hey mate new to your chanel Great vid Im looking at getting the same set up for tailor fishing.
Cheers! If you are just throwing lures then it will be a decent rod. But if you are going to bait fish as well I’d prob go a 12ft rod rated up to 4oz (~120g) or so. Will still cast little metal lures fine
@anglinguntangled yeah that's my plan I have the prevail2 in 12ft 6-12 kg with a 6000 reel for bait fishing Just wanting a light spin combo
Yeah perfect mate. Gotta love the prevails
Thanks a lot I learnt things watching this video. Beginner fisherman here' I subbed
Cheers mate, happy to be helping out
Great video mate cheers for charing.
My pleasure mate, cheers!
Great video and you are a great presenter. This seems much better than just salting bait and putting in freezer. My only question after seeing the quantities of pilchards, salt , and ice you use is what size in litres is the esky you are using. ?.
Cheers Allan, I believe it is worth doing over just salting. That esky is a 42L I’m pretty sure. I haven’t tried it yet, but I think it would work just as well to make the brine and then have it in a freezer with the bait, if you wanted to do small batches or had a big enough freezer
Where did you get that round rods for the wheel shaft?
From a metal supplier, bega steel supplies
Great work mate and thanks for your time today with the quality of information you provide!
No worries at all mate. Hopefully you get into a few
Amazing vid, well presented thanks for sharing.
My pleasure mate cheers
I'd rather keep eat that, than an 80 pounder, the biggest are generally the main breeders ❤ great 👍 video 😊
Yeah my thoughts as well mate let the bigger ones go to breed. Cheers!
Those circle hooks do absolutely nothing for me. I’ve been beach fishing for 50 plus years and always with an Alvey if using bait. But to not strike has the same appeal to me as would driving to the local fish co-op to buy a feed of fish. I’mnot saying they don’t work - but the fishing enjoyment factor to me using them is zero
Yeah that’s fair enough mate. And I think compared to j hooks (suicides and long shanks etc) they have a lower hook up rate when fishing with the rod in hand. But they are brilliant when used with a rod holder, particularly with the heavy setups which are a drag to hang onto all night
@@anglinguntangled yeah they would be good fishing out deep from a boat. I’ve got mates that fish out wide and swear by them. I’ve tried them (once) side-by-side down the beach. I gave up after about an hour, missed a few fish. Probably because I kept striking, even though I knew you weren’t supposed to 😀. Switched back to my normal rig and winner winner, fish dinner.
The rod blank was originally produced as a one-piece egg beater blank. They produced two, a SS1775G and that one the one you have SS5156G. The only info from the factory that came with yours was that it was Power graph series, composite (graphite/glass) unsanded and black in colour. A medium duty Beach/Rock blank with a medium action. Along with the length and number of Wraps. The SS177G (Medium/Heavy duty Beach/Rock blank) included cast weight (60-90g) and line weight (5-12kg)
Cheers mate. Seems such an odd thing these days to not include a line rating or cast weight but I guess those were the times. Would’ve loved for my pair to remain one pieces as well but that’s alright
@@anglinguntangled I’ve got the tech specs for most of the Butterworth/Snyder/ATS blanks made from the 70s through the 90s. I’m not sure why the info wasn’t published. Pretty sure I had a 5156G (one-piece) low mount for a time and used it for chasing dart/tarwhine/bream when I needed to fish a little heavier when the swell or sweep, was running a little. From memory a 60g (#2 star sinker) was its max chickens. I would have used 9lb mono, but 15lb would be ok.
This is the best general Alvey video I have seen yet. Good breakdown on rods. Need to see some action on a BIG fish.
Thank you very much mate. And yes agreed, would love to get onto a big ol jewy with it one day, and some big drummer would be good too
thanks for this. I have a carp problem and now I have a solution! Bow ordered.
You’ll have a ball! Just expect to miss lots while you get your eye in
hey bro can I ask where this spot is exactly
Just an estuary on the sapphire coast mate
@@anglinguntangledthanks bro
@@KhalilAlnadi It's Merimbula lake. Not far from Spencer park. They never like to share where they fish so others don't take fish from them.. They are, however happy to take a bag limit of potential females preparing to spawn.
@flintgibbs8279 Flint, I purposely don’t say where I am in the videos and if you are going to make it a mission to say where then I’ll delete those comments. I say the area and if people want to take a bit of initiative they would be able to find the exact location with their phone in a few minutes. But the last thing our small estuaries need is people going to spots that myself and other people have put the effort in to find and putting on excessive fishing pressure because they’ve been told where online. I tell people basically everything but the exact location so that they can go out and explore and find their own spots and have success. Also, the bag limit for us would have been 20 - I think we kept 8. I believe in protecting fish stocks but luderick are abundant, so I have no qualms about taking that many, even if they’re spawning
would you happen to have the sizes of each cut? length, width, height....thanx- well done!
Cheers! But no unfortunately. The majority are either 120cm or 90cm though
@@anglinguntangled I understand it can be any size. Thanx for your response- cheers!
Circle hooks are definitely a hack! Also love that you're showcasing the Alvey and old school Aussie gear! Got the same SS5156G too! Love it.
Cheers mate, I reckon the alvey will get the odd run in future videos. Yeah nice! Do you know any more info about those rods at all.
@@anglinguntangled yeah this particular model was made in the Mid 80s to early 90's. Specs are: Application: Medium Beach/Rock Blank Length: 3.96m Casting Weight: N/A Line Weight: N/A Seems like it was a very versatile rod given that the spec sheet has N/A on it.
Nice cheers mate. Yeah it feels like it bends more than it does from looking back on the video. Would love to get onto a jewy with it one day, reckon it would love it
🔥🔥🔥
Were you rocking outriggers on that yak mate? - dw, saw the setup later 🤟
Cracking video!! Tips and Strategies were well explained. Just subscribed. Drummer fishing is a unique type of fishing that I always enjoyed. I'm still searching for that big one to catch and release but even the smaller to medium specimens go hard and always bring me back. Looking forwards to more videos.
Cheers mate! Yeah a very rugged way to fish and adrenaline pumping when you hook those good ones. Much appreciated mate will hopefully be back chasing the pigs before too long on the alvey gear
Cracker of a video mate. Quality fish and heaps of good info
Cheers mate! Glad you enjoyed
Beautiful day in the office brother !!! 🔥❤️🔥🔥😎👌🏼
Very effective Louis, they were certainly thick Sammy the seal was in a good paddock on a pristine looking beach Love ya vids, always a good informative watch. Something learnt every time Cheers
Yeah the size of some of the schools down here have been ridiculous. Plenty of seals chasing them too and seems the great whites are chasing the seals - had two encounters with divers over the last month. Cheers Stevo
Cracker video mate. Concise, honest, educational and full of action! Big yes to re-visiting the elastic worm rig for jewies, that looks a winner. Still waiting for snapper off the rocks haha. Aren't we lucky!
Cheers mate! You might be waiting a minute for that snapper. Been struggling to get them out of the boat and if I get one in can it would be my first for off the rocks! Will try and get the circle hook worm bait covered before too long too 👍🏼
Great video thanks my first Alvey 6in Rose wood star drag I no longer have it someone decided they needed it more than me.😢😡😡
Well that’s disappointing, hopefully that cursed they’re fishing for life. Glad you enjoyed the video though
Great video! What type of drone are you using? I’m keen to buy one. I can see how it could be very helpful for spotting fish off the beach.
Cheers mate! My drone is the DJI mini 4 pro. Very user friendly and yeah great for spotting fish or even doing a quick run down longer beaches to spot gutters
Love your videos bro. Will definitely hit you up for a charter when I'm down the coast!
Cheers mate and I’m keen! Let me know when you’re in the area 👍🏼
N leader is 50 lb mono ok pls Tnks n god bless n luv yr video Take care pls
Yeah you’ll catch salmon on 50lb but 20lb is plenty
