Hiney Ladybird - Gateron Black Inks on Aluminum Plate Typing Sounds
Super underrated board! Little to no hype behind this board or Hiney boards in general (maybe besides the HBCP) even though they're really solid.
Originally ran mx blacks on this but I wasn't too huge on how they sounded. The Ladybird has a deeper sounding top mount with the alu plate so I felt like inks complemented that, and they did to my ears. Super full sounding spacebar with an ink in there! There is a touch of resonance/hollowness, but that could probably be fixed with the force break mod which I didn't do and am not too huge on doing with seamed boards because the gap is really easy to see. This was also my first time trying a CEM3 pcb and I don't think I'd be able to hear a difference in sound from FR4 unless I had the two side to side.
Very comfortable typing experience too for top mount which is usually a bit stiff for me but this is comfy. Spacebar isn't too stiff either and all the mounting points seem well distributed to me. Maybe this softer and comfy typing experience despite the alu plate is helped a lot by the CEM3 pcb but again I can't tell unless I had the two next to each other.
Visually, the board has a super sleek design with its nice mixture of curve on the back end and some sharp angles, nice subtle cherry lip at the front too that I'm always a sucker for. Interesting weight design too with the interior of the case looking like brass, but on the exterior it looks like SS. Biggest gripe with the board is the 6 bumpon feet at the bottom instead of the traditional 4 especially on a 60%. My guess is that to still isolate the board from the desk, 6 smaller bumpons keep the front height lower vs 4 bigger ones on each corner? I'm probably wrong but that's just my guess. Other than that, really no complaints, its just a really nice board. Beautiful colour and smooth anodization too, perfect match for shoko!
I got one more build to showcase for this board another time too. Thanks for 400 subs!

We've finally come full circle with this board. A bit different than any of my other builds recently but this was my first mechanical keyboard that I got back in 2016 that I've kept up until now. One of the weirder gamer board layouts with its non-standard bottom row and numpad where the usual TKL navigation cluster would be. Kinda like the weirdness of the layout, its the only board with a num...

LFGGGGGG first topre vid on the channel! Big thanks to the homie Kenny for letting me use this sick board. Using Topre for the past few weeks has been really fun and has honestly been a huge refresher from MX. From the feel and sound alone, its a totally different experience from anything MX related that I've used. Feel wise, The tacility took a bit of getting used to after the only tactile swi...

MORE VP CONTENT LFGGGGGG! Inks on bumpwipe go hard! I've had my VP built in this config for months but just never got around to recording it for some reason. Although the mods lose a lot of their volume and denseness in sound, I just really love how comfortable this is to type on and has been the main reason I haven't rebuilt since. Not to say that this config sounds bad either, its a pretty di...

This is the one. Out of all the builds I've ran on the Fukuro so far this one is my favorite. Sounds and feels awesome to type on, I can't get enough of browns on a plastic plate in top mount! Got some more plates cut for the board and the spacebar is no longer plateless like with the stock plate which I much prefer. If I was to solder in a build for this board, it would 100% be this one. I usu...

Sorry again to the foam/mod haters, but I just had to bust this one out LOL I still do in fact own this board and could never get myself to sell it since it was my first raffle win ever for the tiramisu edition. Happy late by a day Halloween! Saw a listing for this board on the market for dirt cheap and realized this it could be a fun to mod and mess around with. I can't believe some versions of this board were going for upwards of $900 on the aftermarket during 2020-2021 just goes to show how crazy the market for customs used to be. This board was quite the fixer upper, it didn't even come with gasket...

Finally got a 2.0 Add! Board absolutely does not disappoint and I'm stoked to own one at least. The 2.0 Add has one of the comfiest top mount typing experiences I've tried so far likely due to the 1.2mm PCB. The comfy typing experience probably comes at a cost of the alphas being ever so slightly thin for my liking, but definitely not a deal breaker. The thinness could also be from the switches...

After using the Geon trimmer on these since the previous video, I've been finally able to really enjoy the MX2A browns without fear of any of my keycaps cracking at all. Got a second chance to try out another Fukuro from a homie so massive thanks to them (ended up buying it from them lol)! This time, the board came with a millmaxed PCB so was able to do a bit of testing. 👀👍! congrats on the 400 subs! i really like the gat inks with alu plate, sounds amazing! (p.s. are you planning on doing anything at 500 subs?)
thanks as always oak! I actually really like inks on alu/stiffer plates like cf a lot too and honestly haven't thought about doing anything for 500 subs LOL if you have any cool ideas feel free to lmk
looks good, sounds better, where does this rank on your collection of mx 60s?
lemme make a list in order rn of most to least liked for all the 60s ive tried/owned, so currently in my opinion from most favorite to least: Nue, VP, Korn/drop in o--ring, KC 1/60, Fukuro, Ladybird, Midway60, and the Martingale being my least fav. its super close with the Kibou Fukuro since they're both top mount 60s but Fukuro edges it out for me just on looks alone. Ladybird looks more no frills but sounds a bit fuller than the Fukuro tho imo
@@chenyz great write up, seems our preferences line up lol. Plateless/half plate supremacy with o-ring second.
this is highkey a banger layout, sounds insane

👀👍 really like how the original sound of the keyboard is mostly there, not blocked by something like tape mod. Its definitely classic sounding, very very nice! (p.s. I will never understand flipped spacebar users lul)
thanks as always dude! yeah way happier with the natural sound that I was able to get out of this build. also I’m usually not a flipped spacebar fan too but in regular orientation I get a weird ticking so I’m sucking it up and using it flipped LOL

👀👍! dang its been a while since ive seen this board. would you say that leafshrouding the browns is a necessity?
honestly no you really don't need to leaf shroud if anything I've been moving away from doing it. the mod does completely get rid of leaf tick in browns and other tactiles but the tactility of the switch gets reduced and the modded switches that are used the most basically become linear and I can feel/notice the inconsistencies. I've gone back to only lubing the back of the leaves

bro how are you so fast the video hasn’t even been posted yet
Hey Chen! What are ur thoughts on the Wooting 60HE+? (I lost my discord so ima try reach out to u here, have a new one if u wanna add me LOL)
yoooo! from what I've heard the Wooting is solid for gaming if you can take full advantage of the HE technology I don't really have full knowledge of how to tho on the technical side. sorry to hear about your discord too, you can re-add mine @ chenyz
👀👍! dang i really wanna try vp now, sounds pretty dang crazy shesh
vp so good its up there with my goat 60s
Why is bro using a SUS steel bottom? Youre going to have to keep an eye on it bro.
maybe this is why the keyboard moves to a new spot on my desk every night without me touching it, its the SUS bottom oml
hawt. Need to cut me a plate still, but just havent felt the need to mod mx lately lmao
bro is in the throws of topre LOL whenever you do come around to mx, new vp plate will be hella fun to try out

go for it dude, I absolutely love the combo any and every time I run it on a board
Woaah. Awesome. Also thank you for sharing your audio setup on the description. ❤
no problem thanks for the kind comment!
So good
thanks homie
banger as usual may I ask for the cuts and spacebar you are using for the plate this time around?
thanks man! yeah so I got the PC plate cut by Hype Keyboards and he modified the file so that the spacebar switch actually has contact with the plate and the switch isn't just floating / sitting plateless. I can probably ask him for the modified plate file if you want it as well just lmk!
@@chenyz it would be so great if I could get the adjusted plate file. I have been dabble with millmaxing the pcb, and now realized the same thing with the spacebar switch. I love cf plates and am planning to get one and test a bunch of switch out to see what would be best. However, it is a bit wonky with the spacebar switch being plateless tho.
I hear you dude, my PCB for the Fukuro is millmaxed as well. with the stock plates you can pretty much only use a cherry switch in the spacebar since its its one of the only switches that's snug in the PCB without plate support lol. I unfortunately don't have the adjusted file myself, but I asked Tom from Hype Keyboards who did the modifications if he still has the plate file and he said he does! super nice guy who's been cutting my plates for the past couple years highly recommend him. Here's a link to his Discord so you can hit him up for the file or get a plate cut: discord.gg/GsvmbCTguW
@@chenyz it's so crazy that utube have not showed me the notif again... just a quick update, I cut a cf plate myself with tons of flex cuts (inspired by the thong cf plate from kbdfans), implemented the plateless spacebar design from the kohaku plate, popped in some browns with nk cream top, and it does sound loud, bassy and better than the original plate design thinking of having another flex plate cut like this, but still have not determined the material yet, any suggestions?
awesome build man CF slaps for sure! I have a CD player myself too but haven’t gotten around to filing any tests with it. If you want something similar to CF I think your best bets are either alu or FR4
makes me wanna get pc and browns for the f1 or spyder im getting
def can't go wrong with either for both boards
Confused, what do you mean it sounds worse in hindsight? It's maybe a bit loud, but it sounds pretty nice.
I really liked how this config sounded at first but after re-listening a bunch it just sounds a bit thin to me that’s all. I have a way better config that I’ve been loving way more coming up
@@chenyz ah interesting, will look out for it. Have you heard the news? Fukuro R2 is happening (sometime)

Any issues with the cherry stems on your gmk keycaps, I've seen stories about them destroying the housings.
I thankfully did not experience any cracking from the clears, but those stories are probably true. My set of GMK Demon Sword is pretty loose after being used a lot which is the only reason I used the ergo clears with it. The ergo clear stems do have bumps/small nubs on them to keep keycaps mounted on securely and were still hard to remove afterwards. If you have a Geon trimmer, I'd highly recommend to trim them before using them with GMK, I took a risk and got lucky that nothing cracked.
Too Clacky. Needs silent reds :)

gotta satiate the spending addiction lmao
Did you get the mx2a browns unlubed?
I bought them off a friend, but I don't think it was the unlubed variant like how Geon offers dry MX2A blacks. there was a bit of factory lube/oil on the stems that I wiped off before applying my own lube
Is it edible
indeed it is

*Oct 30th, 2024 EDIT/ADDENDUM* - Just wanted to put out a little addendum to my previous statement and say that I actually don't think the MX2A browns are responsible for cracking the stems of my GMK Burgundy, I believe its something wrong with this specific set itself. I have mounted the caps onto other switches like Gateron red inks and the cracking is still happening. I have never experienced this with any other GMK set and I have no idea why this is happening, its like the stems are just extra brittle on this specific set of burg. Maybe the caps were constantly exposed to sunlight causing the plastic to become brittle? I have no idea. The MX2As were unfortunately the first switches to make this problem super obvious to me. Just wanted to clear the MX2A's name and walk back on my previous statement, sorry for any confusion or misinformation.
