My Weirdest Project Yet.
alright so, I and @sgnoogle noticed how boring one specific aspect of consumer technology has gotten: unboxings.
you may be convinced that it's not a big problem, you may be right, but who cares?
as a designer, this was an interesting project to work on, something different from what I'm used to and something that nobody is talking about.
also it gives me another excuse to talk about cards.

The Tech Revolution Nobody is Talking About (Not AI or AR)

What's the Point of Spatial Computing? (& Apple Vision Pro)
มุมมอง 1.4K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
The Apple Vision Pro is already a year old, after its release followed by NOT immediate overwhelming success the usual narrative surrounding XR, VR, AR, or Spatial Computing came back: "it's useless", "nobody wants it" and "it's a solution in search of a problem" Are these people correct? alternatively, why should anyone bother with Spatial Computing? what does it add to (regular) computing? Uncovering the Humane Ai Pin’s Design

After months of waiting, Humane finally unveiled the device they are building. In the Keynote, Imran Chaudhri only showed some of the interactions however, the product's design remains for the most part a mystery… right? Well, there's actually a bunch of stuff they've shown that I think can be used to reconstruct how the real device will look like, from the trailers, the website and even their ...
Pixel 8 Concept • 8 Things Google should Change

The New Google Glass (Concept)
มุมมอง 25K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Google is bringing back Google Glass. At the last Google I/O they showed a prototype of essentially a new model of the device, it's coming and it will have AR, it just makes sense considering the state of the industry, with Apple and Meta investing heavily in it, it would be absurd if they somehow missed the train this time. But the prototype they showed was far from complete, so: considering e...

    ngl that makes sense, more so since they're a designed centric phone compnay, or at least that's how I perceive them I really wonder why they didn't borrow Apple's idea of giving stickers with products, they could have transparent stickers with holographic or shimmery designs for each product, that is similar to your idea of having a physical tangible collectible item, a different kind of vanity - you can stick it on things you like, college laptops are full of stickers haha

    • @AndreaCopellino
      @AndreaCopellino วันที่ผ่านมา

      they do give stickers at launch events or similar occasions afaik, but imho our idea has way more potential. personally, I've never used the stickers I got from Apple products, and after the third time you see them, you don't even register their presence. cards intrinsically can be much more varied and interesting.

    6:05 while I love the card concept I don’t think using the ndot font was a good idea, as nothing themselves have stated that it’s only ever good for headings, using a serif font or some other light font would enhance the readability in addition to highlighting some key aspects of the product. Still really great design 🎉

    • @AndreaCopellino
      @AndreaCopellino วันที่ผ่านมา

      thanks! the serif font would work fine too, but in this case we went for the slightly compressed ndot variant, which is much more legible imho, I don't think it'd be an issue

    Seems to me that "adaptation" is only happening only because of the sudden rapid development or trendiness of AI. So that's a given. The first 2 things mentioned, "customization" and "specialization" has been with us for a looong time (I'm talking about Android :'p) . So, the "trend" of "personalization" is only happening because of AI. So this trend really is only about "adaptation".

    Love this. Thank you for making this. I do think the customization can make the user experience better or even worse (because of the users taste). They now have the power to ruin their experience lol. As a UX designer with high design and human behaviour skills, how could we help companies to build experiences that are customizable yet dont ruin the core customer experience while performing tasks.

    sorry what lol ?! see the closedness of phones os, Samsung is apparently to remove completely the settings screens from their phones, to be replaced with an AI predicting what is optimal for the user, and no manually setting things anymore... you call that customizaiton ?? customization is disappearing if anything

    I’d say in terms of iOS the push for customization started with 14 3rd party widget apps became a thing and everyone got the same idea when they discovered shortcuts and its ability to use an image as its icon Is it as good as android? No But given you care enough to do it and have enough time you can

    I agree with all the points because if you look at it from a futuristic perspective, everything should be able to be customized for a specific user, and I don't understand why Apple has ignored at least lock screen customization until now, it seems like the most basic thing that could have been done 8 years ago, and in general, iOS has always had a bunch of some features that were talked about at presentations, but who used them in the end? Taking a screenshot by double-tapping the back of the phone, who were these people?

  • @DielsonSales
    @DielsonSales 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This customization thing isn’t a “feature” that companies are offering, they’re just a cover up for the fact that there’s no more innovation happening in certain products. So to not be left behind, they need something to show off that won’t actually add any technical advantage, but can have some appeal, to keep the consumers engaged without having anything pushing the technology forward. But when something new comes along, no one will care about customization because they’ll need to be moving fast to beat the competition with more actual features.
