    A 68 GTO hood looks great on a Lemans, that would be an easy, aesthetically pleasing upgrade w/o going all out clone. And apparently, the Lemans could have been factory ordered with the GTO hood anyway. This coming from someone currently engaged in a full, frame-off 1967 Tempest into GTO clone job. 😮

      I do love those hood scoops! And, the GTO could have had the chrome bumper, if you special-ordered paint, I believe. So, we'll see.

    Tim, i had a 1967 Mercury Cougar that i purchased from the original owner back in 1989. It came with all the original paper work to include the bill of sale and protecto plate. A complete numbers matching car in very nice condition, everything worked flawlessly. I always loved the Cougar, more than its cousin the Mustang. I kept it for 21 years and sold it for something else. If i had the extra garage space I’d have kept it. Thats the one I’d like to have back. Currently i have a 1968 Firebird, all numbers matching car in beautiful condition. This one’s not going anywhere for a while. Looking forward to your next video on the Lemans! 👍🏻

I like my cars hopped up some. I dont need something im scared to build up. My 72 centurion is kinda rare but i still swapped wheels and hopped up the motor some. I dont want a car I cant make my own some. I try to do tasteful mods. I did have this nutcase that runs a buick group on facebook get up in arms bad cause I told him im going to swap in overdrive trans. I want to get better than 13 mpg. Its not like im cutting the car up. Now i do like the cars to be powered by a engine by the manufacturer. Im not a fan of the ls swap everything. That said i can understand a ls1 swap if you dont have the engine to go in it. Or its a 80s when they started putting any engine in them.

    I love GTO's, I also love and appreciate a Lemans. I think if you want to turn it into a GTO, go for it. I also think too many people turning lemans into GTO's has caused a shortage of nice lemans and Tempests. The GTO has the Iconic reputation but a 68 to 69 has such a beautiful front bumper styling. I really appreciate seeing a sweet looking Lemans that is still a Lemans.

      My point really was that I could do it, but now I probably won’t. But this was more of a reaction to people saying I shouldn’t under any circumstances. There’s really nothing wrong with it. Alright the book is cool. This subject gets me, i think we saw the same post on facebook. We think the same way. Thing is GTO is money, lemans is cheaper. as long as the lemans is not being sold as a gto i dont care. But we both know you dont take a numbers matching car and turn it into a race car. ( dont look at my 68 gto im doing that but its really rough easier to mod then restore) If you want gto looks and build something with performance and not worried about cutting something up yes use a lemans/tempest and make it a gto. Thing the purist should look at is at least they didnt cut up a gto. Build it for yourself and thats the way to do it. yes the purist at norwalk gets me. wheels are easy to change, but i wont ls mine lol yea clone is worth more then base lemans, we need to together next year at norwalk

      Yeah those posts always get me - not sure why. And we all have our opinions. I get that. Would I ever put a Chevy engine in a Pontiac? No. But just changing the emblems and adding some hideaway headlights? Yep. Like you said, if you don’t cut it up it can be changed back. But don’t hate on someone for making it their own. We’ll hook up next year. I’ll finally have my lemans there!

      @Rustrevivalgarage there were a few last year but just pontiac engines nothing on the body just stock chevy. I have posted it to chevy c10 groups expecting people to hate on it. And nothing which was shocking but also not much love 😆

      @EfurdGarage It’s a Pontiac thing, brother! I’m telling you! I’d put a 400 in a Ford before I’d put a LS in a Pontiac!

    Working on the engine harness on my 71 GTO. Question is as I did not see this in your videos. Where is your horn relay and how is it wired?

    • @Rustrevivalgarage
      @Rustrevivalgarage หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is a great question! Right now, I'm buttoning up all the little things I've missed. Both the voltage regulator and the horn relay were not covered in the book (at least not in the order I did things.) So I'm going to tackle these things in the next video. Got distracted by my Jeep not running well and had to get that sorted.

      Thanks for the reply. I did find out there was a year or 2 they had the relay under the dash. Mine is mounted on the engine side firewall but the stock harness I am using did not have the wires going to the relay. I was able to remove the original relay wires out of the old harness and was able to very easy add these wires into the harness bulkhead I am using by taking the pin connectors out of the bulkhead going into the fuse box and inserting the relay connectors into what I have now. Then one splice to connect the wire going to the horns from the relay.

    👍🏻 working on getting my Pontiac engine replaced. Why don’t you like the fuel filter before the pump? I just installed a filter there, seems like a good place

    • @Rustrevivalgarage
      @Rustrevivalgarage หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mostly because the fuel pump has to pull thru the filter, after pulling from the tank. And I've seen a lot of folks put them after.
