  • Proprioception refers to the body's ability to sense its own position in space and the effort being used in movement. It's a key component of our sensory system! Proprioceptive input, especially through heavy work activities, has a calming and organizing effect on the nervous system. It can help children feel more grounded, focused, and ready to engage in daily activities.
In this video, Pediatric OT Gwyneth Joyce explains ways that you can incorporate heavy work into playtime with your child. This video is intended for toddlers, but can be adapted for children of any age!

Great video. Thanks from Turkiye. I have a question. We know that activities that require "more than normal" muscle activation provide proprioceptive input. So how do the "crash" activities provide the same sense. It makes me feel like crashing activities provide tactile sense. Thank you a lot for your videos.
