That is closer to how I've understood it, but all I said is I've heard that about ND and Stanford. The point remains, they chose not to add Stanford (they could've added them instead of Oregon since their academics aren't nearly as good and it's a bigger market). And ND is the real point that I'm making. They've continually rejected opportunities to join the Big 10. I don't think anything has changed to make them do it now.

I think you eventually right but don’t see any conferences going part 20 for the foreseeable future. Indont think the BIG/SEC make any moves this year. But if the B12 breaks the ACC. The I think may trigger both conferences. BIG with Stanford and SEC with UNC and UVA.

That would be interesting, and each of those schools are good additions. But I don't love going to such a huge conference.

It wouldn't be a lateral move, because FSU would tip the scales. If the Big 12 is even with the ACC with FSU, then the Big 12 with FSU is much better than the ACC without FSU. Plus the private equity will help them earn more than they would in the ACC.

What does it say about the ACC that they need FSU and Clemson just to be basically even with the Big 12? I'm not saying I think it will happen. I'm saying I think the Big 12 is in a stronger position. Plus, FSU is putting a lot of money to leave the ACC. I don't think the Big 12 is their goal, but I do think the Big 12 puts them in a better position.

That conference would be gigantic, but they definitely wouldn't be getting left behind. I'm not convinced they'd need to add non- football schools though.

Great point about the buy low sell high. And the Big 12 will definitely be a tougher road than the ACC. You're fooling yourself if you think the ACC is deeper. They are top heavy, just like the Big 10.

Texas and Oklahoma did not own the Big 12 when they were here. In fact, they had not won a championship in the last fifteen years. Texas has long had more money than any team in the SEC or the Big 10. So, did you want to try again?

Oklahoma Texas Nebraska Kansas State Colorado Oklahoma State Texas A&M Baylor The schools I think in the next 5 years that could win the conference championship or be in the running to win the championship are as follows. Utah Oklahoma State Houston UCF Kansas State Arizona Arizona State TCU West Virginia Kansas These are the ten schools that are most likely to be competitive with a chance to earn a spot in the conference championship game as 1 of the 2 teams. BYU and Cincinnati could also play for a conference championship in five years or so but both teams have more work to do than originally thought and don’t condone getting rid of their head coaches either if have another losing season.

They'll do well, but the Big 12 is deeper than the ACC. FSU has been a mixed bag and Clemson looks to be in a relative decline (their decline still being way better than most teams). But I wouldn't see a problem with them being amongst the best teams in the conference.

I don't love how big conferences are getting, but I like all those additions. It would certainly make it very tough to leave the Big 12 behind with so many solid brands.

Not necessarily. It's possible the other two don't offer them spots or they have to go in at a reduced share. But yes, the offer would have to be really enticing to get them to pass up on the Big 10 or SEC.

No. Unequal revenue distribution led to the disharmony between the Big12 community back in the day. So makes no sense to risk that again plus private equity has more drawbacks than benefits. I would not get involved with private equity or private capital.

I loved the rivalry when we were playing. It really only extended to football, but I'd argue it was better than the rivalry with Utah St over that same period. But it's hard to consider it a rivalry going forward unless since they won't be playing for the foreseeable future, as you mentioned.

I wouldn't read into it. I just fit what I could. I think Kansas was even on there but I rearranged it. My mistake was that I included as many logos as I did.

Colorado was one of the toughest because it works well with so many teams. I like these.

I'm not sure what you're implying I lied about. Also, BYU has a top 12 recruiting class for this year. Catchings is one solid piece among many.

We're just saying what we think. BYU will probably be better than last year, but their schedule is also tougher. But if you prefer, we can just say BYU will win 10 games so you can feel better.

@@saturdayswarriorbyu agreed, I took a good look at every game and the play of Jake R was very promising (not decision making) his talent abilities was obviously everything we were told. Those last two games Minis two plays BYU was the superior team against two of The leagues top teams….its going to be fun. Our talent is there.

I've never been out of Retzlaff and am hopeful we'll see more of the flashes of talent he showed last year. And just as important, I believe the O line will be much improved, even if not quite as talented individually. I love Martin, but I do worry a little about the RB depth, especially if he gets injured. I'm very excited to see the defense in year 2 under Jay Hill. But that middle stretch of games is brutal, and our non conference match ups aren't gimmes (outside of game 1). I definitely think BYU can get to 7 or even 8 wins, but it's not where I'd put my money. I'll be happy to be wrong though. Feel free to come back and throw it in my face.

It's not that I don't think they can do it, but BYU has a tough road ahead of them. Every year they talk big before the season, so I'd like to see them back it up. I'm still going to watch every game and root for them like they're going to win.

Arizona desperrately wants that Oakland recruiting ground back. Stanford was told "NO!" by the BIG10. Would Stanford play with ASU, AZ, Utah, and Colorado?(Hint:they already did) KU is also AAU BYU had some success scheduling Cali schools in independence. The kicker The other option is irrelevance. Does Stanford want to become Yale?

@@saturdayswarriorbyu I think that is nonsense. They are flying across the country just to remain relevant in athletics. The Bay area was certainly oversaturated as far as sports. They just lost the A's and Raiders though possibly allowing for a little more oxygen. Stanford could be in a position to benefit.

Regardless, both sides have already had a chance to make a deal but didn't. Can't say for sure who did no, but it looks like that ship has sailed. There're are schools I'd rather add, but it's fine if it ends up being Stanford.

Agreed. There are plenty of examples of this failing (Utah- Colorado) for one. Like you said this is just for fun, but also it would be fun to face some teams more regularly to help encourage rivalries. I'm hoping some unexpected rivalries for organically.

I was aware of the Kansas hated towards Missouri. It sounds similar to the Michigan dynamic with ohio and Michigan State.

Arizona would be great because if basketball. The games with TT in recent years have been fun, so I like that one too.

But I'm sure this wasn't implemented in part for the reasons you laid out. I look forward to seeing which rivalries form in the Big 12. I wonder though with teams not playing every year and the transfer portal, if we'll see on field rivalries form as often. More likely than not they will be formed by the fans on Twitter.

Thanks for the insights. I love getting each fan base's perspective on this, especially as we're still new to the conference. Feels like in basketball BYU and ISU was setting the stage for a potentially fun new rivalry.

Fair, but it would also be good to not just keep all the Pac-12 schools together. Plus, when looking at knowrivalry.com (which we should've done for the video), Arizona doesn't show up for Utah at all. And for Arizona, it was just ASU. So, I still think we take more established rivalries into account first. Zona does show up for Colorado though, so we could try rearranging to accommodate that.

Texas Tech and Arizona State do you have a lot of similarities that could create a rivalry if they were good and we were good. The only problem with the Houston rivalry is there’s just no one to return fire on the Houston side. That was one thing that made our Texas and Texas A&M rivalries fine. Was that the other fan that was there and ready to mix it up. Whenever we try to start beef with Houston, there’s really no one to fight with , so that may be why it hasn’t developed quite as much

Rivalries can't be forced. It'll come with time. It's interesting you say that about Houston. It could just be my account, but I don't see any Houston fans on Twitter.

Just looking at the information we have. We didn't say anything too different from what people on others BYU shows are saying, that I've heard. I think BYU could absolutely come out and shock everyone by winning 7-8 games, but I don't see that as likely as 5-6.

Cincy and Louisville would be great. I think it's funny how WVU is so indifferent towards Cincy when all they've wanted is to have a regional rival for so long. We'll need Cincy to be competitive in those games though to help it pick up.

Bigger fan bases, but I still think Miami would generally be considered a bigger brand. But unless they start backing it up, that may not be the case much longer. TCU is probably Tech's most hated in rival in the Big 12 now that Texas and aggy are in SEC.

As an ISU fan, it is incredible just how we come together to specifically make your lives hell.

Nobody cares about Houston. And we're not making these decisions in a vacuum, those schools have other rivalries to consider. Utah could become one if you continually compete for the conference championship as you both think you will.

I'm in Virginia, so I prefer VT over Duke. But having Duke BB would be an awesome addition to the best BB conference.

Duke would never join and as a West Virginia fan, Pitt or Virginia Tech would be better for the conference for the rivalry games between West Virginia. To have either the backyard brawl or the black diamond trophy game in conference would be a great addition. Football schools > basketball schools.
