If there is new Stargate I really hope it's a continuation and not a reboot.
They never do continuations like everyone wants, they have no imagination and always go for the reboots which annoy people, a continuation would be cool.

Personally, I'm not as pressed about a strict continuation as I am pressed about NOT erasing, ignoring or negating existing canon.
We want Stargate done the Wright way! No Bad Reboots! We just want the new series to honor what came before. Stargate does not need a hard reboot to produce something new and creative for the franchise. For now the program is shut down and the iris is still closed thanks to Kinsey/Amazon.
Unfortunately I disagree. It's too late for continuations, actors are old, plot dried out.
@@piotrjasielskiHe means no hard reboot obviously it's gonna be new characters with perhaps the odd cameo appearance from a old cast member but keeping continuity with what came before.
@@jjMcCartan9686 I think retelling the story of original characters might be more interesting and an easier point of entry for new viewers. I'd love a continuation but 10 years ago. They would need to come up with a very interesting new premise - a groundbreaking plot for continuation to work.
@piotrjasielski continuations don't have to have the old cast as main full time characters, it just means continuing using the canon of the previous story.

SGU is a Grimdark Series thats NEVER Stargate. I can think of a Reintepretation of SG1 or SGU but more in a Altantis based Style, Stargate is a more realistic Star Treck
I agree SGU was starting to find it's footing and got cut way to short ...yes SGU went down a more serious and darker story line but honestly I liked that. stargate tried something new with univers and it didn't deserve the hate it got....I believe the more hard core fans where to set in there ways and compared and expected it to be like SG-1 instead of just accepting it was it's own series
@@PpVolto SGU was a attempt to be Battlestar Galactica that was its entire purpose, to capitalise of BG ending it was indeed never intended to be a stargate show
It does need to be a continuation and not a reboot.
It would be like rebooting the entirety of Trek or Star Wars. It's too rich an IP and Universe of characters, worlds, villains, heroes, backstories and more, to start from scratch. They would just be retreading the same ground for the next 10+ years with different actors.
A continuation still has plenty of potential (although perhaps they might stretch to find original stories) if they pick up where SG:U ended and have a new and original threat, emerge from a whole new Universe. Perhaps woken up by the ship (somehow) as the crew are still in hibernation and travelling.
And it's been long enough that 'Stargate Command' could have now spanned our entire solar system, with bases on multiple planets, and perhaps that wakes up some old, ancient evil.
Well they ruined wheel of time so i expect wormhole xtreme levels of production from Amazon.

It would depend on whether the pitch includes a movie 🎥 length feature to act as a quasi-pilot for a new series. It would also depend upon whether Amazon uses that proposed feature pilot to attract distribution deals around the world 🗺️ to co-fund the series. Or whether they just go it alone on their Prime video service.
As for Brad Wright. He may get a producer credit along with Jonathan Glassner as would Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich. How involved all 4 would be ? Hardly likely I would say. Unless Jeff Bezos himself walks in the room and says “we’re going with Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner. If anyone doesn’t like it, there’s the door.” It’s a long shot for sure, but stranger things have happened in Hollywood.😅

And yes please don't "mirror" the Star Trek scenario of Kurtzman for Stargate unless it is created out of another universe. Lol
I also would like a continuation of Stargate Universe even if it's a one-off movie like Farscape Peacekeeper Wars. If they do, I hope they don't end the movie with the usual trope of killing off one of the main characters.

Nope. I wasent on TH-cam 4 years ago. I do remember saying there was a plan for a movie and mark fergus was showrunning. First before anyone else. And deadline then saying the same thing 6 months after me… and being first to say Amazon weren’t going with Brad wrights series plan like everyone thought they would. Maybe that’s what you’re remembering?? 😉

I just didn't enjoy Stargate Universe. I loved sg1 and atlantis. I'd prefer to see a continuation of Atlantis. I was disappointed with sg1 Ori story ark. I'd like to see maybe a continuation of sg1 where humanity has expanded and become more of a middle power in a more evenly matched universe, with a fractured Gould presence and other new space powers.
I would love, love, stargate to be in some way brought back to our screens. But given that all we hear is rumour after rumour and nothing ever happens, i wont hold my breath
The one thing SG1 had that no other SG franchise had was a coalition.
The biggest Danger for shows like this, is time lapse , Where is a lot of the former Fandom simply moves away and moves on ..........
If Stargate is offered again to bidders by Amazon wouldn't it be in the best interests of everyone for a Brad Wright/Stargate experienced crew whether that's through crowdfunding / Amazon weighing in with a load of money, but actually making a great series (Amazon can then make money with a film and several series off shoots Atlantis etc + interest in the back catalogue)
If a new Stargate show is made, it needs to be set in a post-disclosure world.
I considered the secrecy viable back when the Stargate program was limited to a handful of SG teams. But now that we have additional things like a space fleet and multiple offworld bases and people and infrastructure needed to keep those things running, that secrecy is no longer valid. Especially in 2025.
if there ever was a new sg team i did like to see a followup sg series that cont the fight on the remaining lucian alliance and they become stronger than ba'als leauge in terms of strongholds etc. and i did love to see tomin being part of the new sg team as his redemption. if i ever made a sg series that did be my plot ideas.
I just dont want a full reboot if they ever say modern audience its a red flag. imo

sg is actually back but you havnt realised it yet , nearly every week we hear a new rumour about sg1 and who is doing it and then not doing it and is it a film ? , a series ? , a film and a series ? , series and a film or flags of all nations , this has been going on for 4 years now , atlantis only ran for 5 years and we are in yr4 of sg1 and the drama and plot twists keep coming.

Gee, I could swear that it was like a year ago that I heard there was big update, and that a new Stargate project was "definitely" happening. I also recall hearing that there would be some kind of conclusion to Stargate Universe's cliffhanger ending.
Of course I've been seeing these videos promising that big things are "coming soon", for years now. Personally, I think a new Stargate project will come out about the same time that Half-Life 2: Episode 3 does.

I really don't think that's quite fair to Alex Kurtzman. While he's lambasted, somewhat rightfully so, about the movie times, he does come off as a Trek supporter. Maybe he understood it after getting the job but clearly he has revitalized the franchise as a decent to good steward. Imo

if they are going to bring stargate back either somehow pick up where universe left off ( I'd love that personally ) or come up with a new arc. Don't try to reboot sg1 or atlantis.
I could maybe see picking up from where atlantis left off but they sorta had an end - atlantis went home to earth. I don't see much to work with there - maybe getting the gate warp and tie it to universe? The quest for more zpms but that feels likely to be very boring!

IMO, if there's a reboot, i would like the Bill McCay novels to be turned into a tv show as i doubt that the movie will happen due to ip issues.
Interesting. Japanese companies like Sony are very big on trust so you having few maybe not so strong sources makes sense. Creative direction been decoupled from Amazon would be a huge win. Once Amazon is involved it goes to shit. Also lately from other projects that are rumored at Amazon they seem a bit more willing to reduce the corporate commitee mettling.
They seems to understand that audiances are not happy with the slob they have been serving for the last few years.

As much as i whole heartly love stargate i'm atleast partly glad we never got anything from amazon. i just don't see them doing the series justice (perhaps my feelings to this would of been different 10 years ago but now with how the world is it'll be just another woke claim for money)
Stargate can be like Santa Barbara running for 30 years as you can make all sorts of stories going trough the stargate.
I just hope they wont go with the Universe concept if they do it. It needs to be a story a week and larger story built in the season.
Like with a threat for the middle season and end season while they have a time period to come up with a defense for the threat.
Like in Atlantis they spot that a wraith ship takes course to their base and will arrive in something few months while on the meantime they use stargate to find a solution traveling from planet to planet and so on. Universe was bad cause it was not adventure as they were stuck in a ship with limited access so they didnt even discover any interesting technology in there.
Also didnt go trough gates even tough they were on a ship that plants gates all over the galaxy
You know what will happen they will only do it a few years and then cancel. So I am not going to get excited. Also it has been so long ago maybe they won’t get people to watch. So if this ever happens it will be surprising

I am NOT a Fan at All of SGU , I thought it was Extremely poorly written and the acting was Terrible !!! Which I attribute more to plot of the story ............ I hated SGU - it's the only Stargate series that I stopped watching and it only took a couple of episodes for me to tune out.

Todd the Wraith makes me chuckle out loud everytime.
Until SGU I could never get into the Stargate shows because they were so hokey, even though I loved the movie when it came out, and the concept. During the pandemic I finally did watch all of SG1, and the sci-fi is actually super sick, but it is undeniably bad by today's standards, c'mon. That corny old TV format and acting style of SG1/SGA really defanged the material, but I do see the charm, and it is also a great comfort show. Maybe give SGU another go. I just finished a rewatch and I liked it even more than I did the first time I watched it as it aired. The second season is when it came into its own, it's a real shame we never got any more. I am just hopeful we get more SG of any kind. At this point I'll take what I can get lol.
It would be nice if they did figure out a way to give SGU at least a single further season to finish things off, and easily enough to explain away that there was a break of so long because of them being in stasis longer than expected. The actor who played Eli has actually lost a lot of weight in the time since the show finished, so they could easily explain this as being him finding some way other than being able to fix the last stasis pod for him to use.
Or they could put him in a fat suit 😂

I want a reboot, it was amazing going through the Stargate not knowing what was on the other side,
You can't put the genie back in the bottle. We now know what is on the other side of the gate. If they reboot and change what is on the other side it will always be compared with OG SG, and the odds of it being compared favorably are very, very low. Therefore a reboot that ignores all that came before, in all likelihood, would last a season or two and them permanently kill the SG franchise.
