This video is excellent, but I must say you left me hanging at a critical point. My fridge doesn't work but following your video, all voltages are exactly what you say they should be be, everywhere you say they they should except on the black wire coming back from the eyebrow board to the main. No power there. However, if you hold the eyebrow board in your hand vertically with the connector on top, there is a small row of pins across the top of the board that correspond to the wiring colors in the harness. So the green wire is to the right and the black wire is to the left. The orange wire has 12 volts as you said. But the corresponding pin for the black wire is dead. I have put two new boards in and the results are the same. Is there really supposed to be 12 volts there or am I missing something? Thanks for clearing this up if possible.

I've had this tankless water heater for over 6 years. Never had to mess with the water control valve. Our water tank is on the exterior of the unit. This makes for some very cold water (45-50 Degree Fahrenheit) coming into the system, and maxing out at the faucet at about 102 degrees. Recommendation was to decrease the water control valve allowing more time for the unit to heat the water. How much does this turn, as it appears to only turn about a quarter turn max, unless it is stuck?

Watched your video for a fridge that wouldn't light on propane. Tested the circuit board and found that there was no power to the valves, I purchased another board from amazon $38 Had it the next morning, Put it in and It lit right up. Thank you for your vid. saved me from not having a fridge on gas for my vacation next week

Consider doing a video on how to troubleshoot a problem where when your rv water pump runs, the lights in your rv dim. Mine is doing it and I'm guessing it is a bad ground. I see this in a lot of rv forums.

Hello! I have a dometic rv fridge not yet installed in my camper. We put 12V and 120V and the pipe got hot, but no cooling happened. When we put it on propane, it cooled, but cant get below 66 in the freezer, fridge is room temp. I checked the position of the thermistor, put it in the right tight place. What else? You can hear the ammonia boiling, and its super hot on the pipes. Why isn't it cooling inside? Thanks from Texas

Followed your algorithm. Propane, water pressure, etc all perfect. Measured pins 2 and 3 at 4.9V when unhooked from the flow detector. Checked at all harness points. 4.9V. consistently. However once the harness is connected to the flow detector measurement drops to zero, therefore no way to detect a further drop when hot water is turned on (Klein tool, professional electrician). What now? And thank you!

Just got home from the NRVTA on Monday after taking the 5 weeks course. Yes, Dan still does the long boring speech and cries. The tests still suck. So much content that wasn’t taught and their response to us was that the course would have to be 10 weeks if they taught it. Totally missing the point on not testing us on content that wasn’t taught. Everyone still bitches about solar. It hasn’t changed. Had a guy with COVID that they didn’t tell anyone about. How did we find out? He was the only one sick and then half the class got sick. I took a COVID test when I got home and let them know about the positive test. They still never said anything but the teachers did mention that if you were sick to sit in the back of class. No COVID mention or precautions were taken even after other positive test came up.

My furnace is intermittent. It works about 30% of the time. Had it to the dealer last year and they said they found “rust” and had fixed it. Well, first time I had to use it last week, it was back to 30% operation. I took it apart and everything checked out using a meter: sail switch, high temp switch, gas valve solenoids, igniter, etc. Put the furnace back together and it worked fine on the floor inside the camper through half a dozed cycles. Put it back in the camper and it worked a couple times and then stopped working. It seems to have completely quit now as about 10 attempts all failed. So, I ordered a sail switch and hopefully that is the source of the problem.

My wife and I live off grid in a 4 bedroom house that runs off solar and propane and our propane fridge broke down about a year or so ago. Our solar is limited but we have 2 1000 gallon propane tanks for our generator at night and our refrigerator. We have a few RV's on our property that were left from the previous owners and were able to get a pretty nice propane fridge out of one of them and but we can seem to get it to turn on, we followed your video and made it to the orange wire and nothing on that wire. So we went and pulled the circuit boards off of 3 other fridges all of the the exact same and everyone one of them has power up to the orange wire and then nothing, all 4 boards look to be in excellent condition and the fuses are all good to go. They all can't be bad could they? I mean there is no sign of any damage at all to any of them. Any ideas? I'm wondering if I need to run a grounding rod of some kind out side but if it was a grounding issue i wouldn't be getting power to evey other part up to that wire I wouldn't think would I?

Mine is testing good on all but the thermistor resistance is low. Putting in a new one tomorrow and hopfully the fridge will cool? The fridge is only 3 years old and no yellow leak or ammonia. Next step is turn the fridge upside-down for 24hrs

Some great points, definitely some I hadn't thought of. A couple of other things to consider.... Gas... Most "on demand" units use a good bit of gas and typically don't have an electric option to heat the water. So, for boondocking, that might be an issue. For the weight side of the argument, you might also want to consider the lack of water storage that the tank water heater gives you. When boondocking, again, more water storage is generally better. LOL. notice how much "general" verbiage I'm using here. Personally I prefer the tanks. Much easier to care for and maintain. Really enjoying all your content! Keep it up and thanks!!!

This video looks great. And it would be nice to have a little flow chart based on symptoms for the uninitiated. Then then could skip right to the part they need. Was able to figure out I only needed to start with your last chapter. My problem is that on shore power the unit turns off the gas but doesn't cool. I found a blown fuse, replaced it and it didn't blow but still didn't cool. I could hear a relay kick in so I thought it was working, but no. My guess is that it was the electric heating element. I measure an open circuit across the heating coil. I really need that resistance table that you say is in the description, but is not. Or at least a range. I'm pretty sure that there would be some resistance on the heater.

You can put capacitors in series and parallel and get the value you are targeting. So you don't have to buy them all. As long as you have enough physical space inside the unit to fit them both in there.

How much propane do tankless use? I full time and go through a ton of propane every winter with the furnace and cooking,so im super leery of going tankless.

We have a carrier air v low profile and it freezes up all the time. It’s all clean drains and all. I don’t see a freeze sensor on it at all were these made with one. I can’t seem to find anything on them ever having one. Not sure why it keeps freezing up

I have a 1995 Fleetwood Southwind. It's dated and faded but solidly built and looks a lot like yours in the inside.

Be aware that if you taking the inspector course you will need to live in the areas where people will pay for this service, which is mainly in the southern part of the country and California. If you want to live in other parts of the country then realize you likely won't have enough demand to make this a business and people don't hire inspectors during the winter.

I tested my thermostat, ac condenser not turning on. In the process noticed all settings were fine volt wise except “low fan”. Would that indicate a bad thermostat or just for that setting. About to go in the roof to check AC capacitors. Great videos.

your help/guidance will be appreciated..... I have an RV Coleman Mach unit that stopped working when I set the thermostat in Auto..... Nothing.....when I set it on FAN/On it turns on the fan but not the compressor. I replaced the capacitors and still nothing...I know there is a metal box inside the unit by the filter, where I can see the thermostat wires going in and AC wires going out... maybe relays in that box. any suggestions ? thx.
