21 years ago, when we were young and poor noobz. Our DD Numark TTs, and second hand Behringer mixer we had to buy together, a TV sound system, and a Sony Handycam was all we needed. Hence, the shitty sound quality :) 29:40 - 31:12 - train wrecks of my life :(

1.5kW single-phase Siemens Sinamics V20 driving a 1.1kW tri-phase motor

Testing out the new 1.5 kW single-phase Sinamics V20 VFD and the 1.1kW tri-phase asynchronous motor (ELK Motor, made in Turkey, delta wired for 230V) in the workshop, using a laser tachometer, after entering the motor parameters. And they make some good machines. The casting at least looks good. Much better than the base of my Chinese band-saw. Had to drill and tap a hole on it for a setscrew to level the arm, and it was softer than butter. The motor is a NEMA 34. Thanks for watching :)

    i'm interested in doing this, but with a baby 8 and a monotron delay. I watched a video covering delay and sq1 watch?v=hDgIoM7qrOU but it seems that the delay only works well with 8 volts? and the baby 8 is up to 5 volts? do you think it's possible that the combination of delay and baby 8 would work out ok?

    • @technoshamanarchist
      @technoshamanarchist 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      4017 can handle voltages from 3V to 15V, so it should be no problem just to power it with 8V. BUT, I see that he says 8V/Hz for control voltage range. This is wrong, and he probably means 8[Hz/V]. 8V is the whole range of the output, and it's also different from the 5V (1V/Octave) generated here with the Baby8. I'm no analog guru, but as far as I can tell, Baby8 should work fine with Delay as long as you stay within the limits. Just make sure that it can handle an 8V (Max) CV input. But start with 5V. Also see this article here, and also check out the other projects on this site. He seems to have done fine with 5V - picsynth.000space.com/monotron/pitchcontrol.html

      Hi! PIC12F683 is used in the step sequencer, and it's only providing the pulses for the sequencer to move to the next step. I don't have the code or the schematics, since it was a quick fix. PIC only provides timer pulses from a digital output pin, whose frequency changes depending on the value of the potentiometer, which's connected to an ADC pin on the PIC.

    Cool project, I'm considering 4017 for a similar sequencer, how did you limit it to 8 outputs, output 9 to reset?

    10 years later and this is still dope; and I've been saying dope longer than 10 years so some things are just timeless. Thanks for this.

    Ended too soon! Was just getting into it. Well done hack and great sequencer, too. Sounds great! You must lose all kinds of time playing with this, huh? 😊 Thanks for sharing, Mister.

    Hi, hows the Optimum lathe going. I'm now thinking of purchasing one myself. Regards Kevin

      Hi Kevin. I like it so far. Good for everything I need. Precision is what you get for the price (tailstock is still a bit too high). The 1HP AC motor is rather strong (I don't think DC Varios are that strong, my mill is not). I can cut silver steel, stainless steel no problem with carbide inserts.

    Hm. When you write data to the SID. You disable clock. And expose it to 1. This can lead to sound artifacts. You did not have the idea of how to do this differently?

    • @technoshamanarchist
      @technoshamanarchist 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's been too long since the last time I worked on this project. But as far as I remember, I only stop the clock (and switch to a bit banged clock) to write data to SID, and it's back on when the sound is going to be produced. Since a SID track uses a 50Hz pulse from the mains (I never got to that point), I think it should be safe.

      Never seen one. Maybe you should check out the pcb for relevant labels.

    Can anyone explain how increasing the barrel length increases the fps? I can see it will improve accuracy but all the extra friction should reduce the fps.
