Hi Kevin. I like it so far. Good for everything I need. Precision is what you get for the price (tailstock is still a bit too high). The 1HP AC motor is rather strong (I don't think DC Varios are that strong, my mill is not). I can cut silver steel, stainless steel no problem with carbide inserts.
Could you tell me which size of the cutting tools you need for this lathe to be exactly centered in the 4 position tool post ?I think it is 12x12 mm ? Would be cool if you could tell me the measurements ;)
+TheBK117B2 You need the 14x14mm ones. On the other hand, I use a 4mm parallel bar and a 1mm feeler gauge to center these 10mm brazed carbide tools, with 1mm less tip height than my other 10mm cutters with inserts. These were recommended in the manual, so I thought they would center naturally. I think the 12x12mm would fit nicer, but they're also more expensive. The set of 10mm cutters with inserts only require a 4mm parallel bar. On the other hand, the tool holder tool width is 12mm, and can handle up to 20mm tool height. I think it would be smart to invest in a QCTH.
Hi, hows the Optimum lathe going. I'm now thinking of purchasing one myself. Regards Kevin
