French Broad River Smallmouth Kayak Bass Fishing! (ROUGH DAY)
In today's video, I will be floating the French Broad river for smallmouth bass! Fishing the French Broad river for smallmouth bass is one of the best things to do around Asheville North Carolina! The French broad river kayaking scene is a big community and friendly toward kayakers. There are many launching locations for kayaks on the french broad river bent creek river park being the most popular. River kayak fishing especially river bass fishing is one of my favorite things to do. River smallmouth bass fishing is something that you should try if you have not already. Smallmouth bass fishing is one of my favorite hobbies to do in the warmer months, especially on the french broad river. French Broad river fishing for bass is well known in the area to have giant river smallmouth and can be very rewarding especially if you're persistent. The french broad river flows through Asheville NC and has some good early summer bass fishing. The French Broad River in North Carolina has an excellent population of smallmouth bass in the river and is some of the best sections of the french broad river smallmouth fishing. The french broad river is best when fished around and has some excellent fishing opportunities. Smallmouth river fishing is very rewarding compared to lakes because it seems like the smallmouth bass fight harder. Take a breath dude! 3:15 in and I 've got to stop the video. I'll possibly try another one or two to see if I can manage watching but please. More silence and let non stop talking for the sake of talking. This could be good content but you need to breath and give us some silence now and then.
Yeah normally I try to add some b roll footage into the video and try to make it to where there’s some silence in the video. However this section is very loud with all of the traffic going by it and that’s why it seems like I never quit talking. If I left the audio in and didn’t cut the footage like I did, all of the noise would result in a lower audience retention because of how loud it is fishing that section. For future videos I’ll try to figure out a way to make the video flow more naturally. Thank you for the feedback and I really appreciate you watching!

I love it when it's low and clear, I've been killing it for the last few weeks. Ask yourself where the river fish go in the summer when it's HOT...We paddle through the calm and fish the eddies adjacent to the swift.
Yeah normally I’m the same way but just so many of my spots I normally fish were very shallow or non existent during this float. I love targeting the eddies especially during the summer months with all of the oxygen flowing into them and generally there’s some big smallmouth there. I went out there a week ago after some rain. It was blown out and dirty, but a few fish did get caught. Just had to keep my patience and trust.
That’s awesome that you caught some even with the water being blown out! Whenever it gets blown out it can be really difficult to catch them. As long as you find the right area most of the time they like to stack up. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it!
Try a Dark Sleeper or any paddletail that looks like a river sucker/darter. If you need a little more flash try an underspin with the same paddletail colors. We fish the Broad, Pigeon, Nolisucky and South Holston. Things have changed a lot in the last 40 years, we try not to fish any rivers that the jet boats can get to.
I’ve thrown a dark sleeper on the French broad before and got some follows but I never thrown it on the pigeon though. I love using a paddletail whenever they’re willing to commit to a moving bait. I thought about making a video going down one of the rivers around here throwing a big swimbait to hopefully get a big bite. Yeah it’s crazy how much things have changed around here. I agree I try to avoid boat traffic as much as possible on rivers. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it!

Yeah it’s a habit that I picked up from floating the rivers and honestly one I need to break. I’ve heard there’s some great smallmouth fishing over there but I’ve only done the holston and little pigeon over in Tennessee. Nice day on one of my favorite riversThose boots were dragging you down. Boots that hold water are no bueno summer kayak fishing. If you had on some old sneakers or something you probably wouldn't have gotten your foot stuck. And if you had a well fitting pair of felt bottom wadeing boots you probably wouldn't have fallen. Great video though, the quality had definitely improved I haven't seen one of your's in a while and you are getting a lot better about camera angle and positioning. Keep up the good work, I'll probably see you out there sometime and say hi, we fish all the same places.

Nice smallies! I've mostly fished largemouth but may switch it up some. I don’t expect you to give up your spots but can you recommend some areas in the river where the water is calm enough for kayak fishing? I've seen some areas where the current would definitely take you down river
There’s lots of good places to kayak the French broad depending on where you’re at. I’ve heard the Tennessee section has some good smallmouth in it but the North Carolina section I’m more familiar with. This time of year the flow isn’t too bad so now is a good time to explore. I mainly fish around the Asheville and woodfin section. Hopefully this helps some and if you got any other questions if you’re on facebook join the western North Carolina smallmouth club. It depends on what type of baitfish are in the lake you’re talking about. But generally the bone color or the loon color will do good. It also depends on conditions you’re fishing in. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it!

I came sooo close to getting one of these. I gave in and got a Humminbird Solix instead. This is 100% the next choice I would make though.

I love bonafides lineup and I love their products. I’ve been rocking a bonafide SS 127 for two years now and I love it. I have trolling motor and everything you can imagine on mine
