It's been almost a year since I've been out on the bikes to do a ride and video. Through the re-occurrence of an old debilitating back injury and COVID, it's been impossible to do so until now. Feels SO good to be riding again. This is just a short ride to Taralga NSW for a coffee with friends at the Grand Ettie Cafe. www.grandettie.net/ Hopefully, more rides to come!! Brad

Rides, Roads, People and Places is a channel created to share motorcycle journeys in Australia and New Zealand. I'm not a professional Vlogger, nor ever will be. A simple celebration of riding great motorbikes, on outstanding roads in the company of wonderful people.
Motorcycle Touring - Three Day Ride - Wagga Wagga and Orange
มุมมอง 8K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Decided to do a three day solo ride in regional NSW. From Sutton to Wagga Wagga, to Orange and return to Sutton. In Australia, we don’t have those amazing high altitude passes of southern Europe or the spectacular scenery of New Zealand or Canada. What we do have is a lack of traffic on our regional roads. On this trip I rode some magnificent roads through some beautiful countryside with almost...

Thanks for the feedback. Yes they are. One of the reasons why I haven't published any videos for a while is because of the issues I was having with GoPro cameras. In short, they are junk. I'm now using DJI Osmo Action 4 cameras. They are brilliant! Super reliable, don't overheat and seize up, great images. You can see the two remote controllers on a strap that's wrapped around the brake reservoir. They work really well. Brad

Thanks David, well worth the time to ride that region. I use Scenic as my nav app on iPhone. The thing I like about it is the ability to determine exact routes I want to ride on Google Maps, then use the URL of that to paste into the Scenic Web App and export to the iPhone. Of course, I have a backup navigator when it rains. Garmin Zumo 595.

Great video and a new subscriber. Well today, the 17th of Sept. 23, I decided to do the trip from Albury where I live to Tumbarumba and return, what great scenery, good roads (except a few potholes but they make life interesting) quite a few bikes touring the area, absolutely no sign of snow anywhere as it was 21C up there at Tumba. I have a 2021 650 V-Strom and it loved it as much as I did. We'll be having a meet up with V-strom owners (part of the Stromtrooper forum) in late October and I want to show some of the other riders this part of the road heading up to Tumut instead of boring Hwy 31,.....I'm 100% convinced I've found the best way there and the most enjoyable ride.. I've only lived down this way for not quite 12 Months so still feeling my way around. I really enjoyed this video trip.....cheers Dave J.

An inspirational video. I loved being able to recognise most of the locations on the roads videoed. To do the Bells Line justice you have to do it early in the morning, the same goes for the Putty, otherwise it’s the Boys in Blue and traffic. I’d also recommend the back way (there’s a couple) between Singleton and Gloucester rather than the Highway down to Hexham. Try Dog Rocks and Rockley Roads between Black Springs and Bathurst next time you’re in the area. There are so many great roads to explore.

Jeff, You raise a good point. I had to make sure the ride fitted in to eight days to allow the others to take one week's leave. That meant we had to do long days on the bike with early starts and not enough time factored in to get more footage of the surrounds and the towns we stayed at. If I was to do it again, I would allocate at least 10 or more days to do it. That way I would have the time to also do some drone footage. It's a stunning landscape....from start to finish. Well worth taking the time!

Hi. All 3 GoPro cameras are Hero 7 Black. I also use a remote controller for each camera. Like many other moto vloggers, not completely happy with them. From the GoPro 5 onwards, they all suffer from overheating and just lock up. Just got back from a long trip and missed out on a lot of footage because of this. However, when you look at key requirements like size, mounting options, remote controll etc, there are not many alternatives. Battery life is also an issue.

    • @PJA333

Hi, the app is called Scenic. It's a motorcycle specific navigation app. The thing I like most about it is that I can create routes easily on Google Maps and simply upload it through the Scenic web interface and import it to my iPhone. Many of the rides I do I want to ride a specific set of roads. Much easier to do that on Scenic than Garmin or Tom Tom. Hope that helps

Love your Channel & your videos, especially the Long way for coffee series. May I ask, what set up you have for your GoPro remotes? I've only ever seen the single mounts available & would love to get a double set up. Thanks

Tudor, Glad you like the channel. What I do is far from perfect, but I try my best. You will notice on this video that I am using three cameras. All GoPro 7 Black with a controller for each camera. Two controllers mounted on the one velcro strap wrapped around the front break oil reservoir and the third on a shortened velcro strap on the left mirror mount just where it attaches to the handlebar. For me, the controllers are a must. Impractical to be reaching up to turn the chin mounted camera on with gloves. Impossible to turn the two rear cameras without controllers. Are the GoPro remotes foolproof? No. With GoPro, there are systemic issues and shortcomings with their technology. The main ones being software/firmware bugs, connection to microphones, poor battery life, wind noise management and overheating. Just to name a few. I might put together a short video on my camera setup and approach. Take care.

Finally someone near the ACT sharing some good rides and roads! Sorry to hear your back has been a bugger but great to see you back on the bike. Thanks, will definitely check out the cafe at Taralga.

Thanks, there are some outstanding rides to the north of the ACT. Including great roads leading to Blayney and Oberon where there is almost nil traffic. Hoping to do a video of those in the next few months.
