I never found the American Tanto style useful, but this with the reprofiled belly looks much more useful.

I got news for you fella's. That plastic is actually very close to a "phenolic" and is as tough as plastic gets. It is stronger and will last longer than G10. CS G10 is awesome grippy when its new. Carry it in your pocket for a year and it is no longer grippy. G10 will wear out on you.

They went with the liner lock because you can have heavy gloves on and still actuate the knife. What I've been told....so take that for what it is. I own one of these and I love it.

Mine has evicted many many Black Widow spiders. It's killed a few. 😒 It's also killed the abominations known as brown widow spiders. Dispatched rattlesnakes with it too., they were beyond medical help and dying in pain. Hello from San Diego California.

Actually the backspacer is aluminium. For what I heard, they went without the liners, because as they tested it the blade broke. Never once the handle. So basically before you break the handle you snap the blade off 😂

In my opinion Blade HQ is too expensive. I can always find it cheaper someplace else.

This is good for slicing chip bags and apples, and other mild edc taks… it’s way too thin for its length and with the hole it’ll snap with any lateral force, it’s not for any para or military use

Looks like pricing is up around $250 for this model now. I've owned mine for about 6yrs. The DLC coating is indestructible lol if it wasn't for the missing paint on the pocket clip and some gouges on the G10 you'd never know the blade was heavily used. The tip is very thin, but it's great for gutting fish and cleaning small to medium game.

I'll never quite understand the"every oz counts" guys. I've never carried a knife and ended the day limping from the weight 😂 my phone weighs more then almost any knife you can carry and no one complains about that

I used to think the compression lock was just an upside down liner lock too, but they are different. For a liner lock to fail, the tab on the liner just needs to be bent over to the side or folded downwards. For the compression lock to fail, the tab liner needs to be crushed/sheared between the blade and the standoff above the lock. The later would take significantly more force.

For the better steel I was going to spend the bigger bucks $ Now I'm glad I didn't because the Scout is Stout and very capable and I don't see any need for a super expensive Super Steel in that blade design. ⚔️😜

I think it's funny that people use this pocket knife like they would a heavy duty knife. These smaller knife's are made for edc.

I just got my first Military; a St. Nick’s exclusive model with a DLC coated 4V blade, ($220 and WELL worth it). I LOVE it! I prefer the full sized blade and the Millie ergos are better for me than the PM2, (I own six PM2’s). The liner lock on this model is incredibly good, and I wish Spyderco used it on more models. I should’ve gotten a Millie ~20 years ago. 🤔

I have been carrying the first version of the military for over 10 years now. They are pretty much the same knife but this 2nd version refines a couple of things in the design. It is in my pocket every single day. It is the perfect size knife for me and my absolute favorite in the spyderco line up. I Only use my knife for cutting, no prying. The tip has never broke or bent. I sharpen the knife about once every two or three weeks on the spyderco sharp maker to maintain the s30v edge. I rarely have to use anything but the ceramic rods to bring the edge back. The blade profile in my opinion is the perfect balance between edc utility and self defense. I do own the blurple pm2 in s110v steel. I love the compression lock on the PM2 but the size is too small for my taste. It does end up in my jacket or flannel front pocket from time to time just to flick a play with. As luck would have it Spyderco is finally going to release a "Military 2" with the para's compression lock! It was debuted at blade show. I am definitely jumping on it when its released and maybe it will earn the edc spot my original has. Love these knives! Thank you for a great video.

Just so you are aware, the figurehead on the pivot and clip is a trademark of Grimsmo! Anyone who owns one of these knives by itself without the box or papers has a true clone of a Grimsmo knife. If the engraving on the inside of the knife said Hilberg anywhere then it would be a Hilberg knife regardless of the figurehead on the exterior. Anyone who buys this knife off of someone without the box or papers has no way to identify this knife as a Hilberg knife so no matter what this knife is a true clone of a Grimsmo knife and that is wrong! Unless you want to carry the identification papers around every time you carry that knife! If this knife had Hilberg somewhere on it, different story but it doesn’t so that makes it a true clone no matter what Hilberg says on the packaging! That holds true with any product! Would you like your F150 truck to be made in some small island country and be labeled on the steering wheel F150! Would that make it right because it’s a $70 grand truck and you could get the same for $25Grand in Cuba and have it shipped to Key West! I’m sure that would upset a few auto workers in Kentucky! Buy real and don’t support the China clones or just do without. There are a lot of really good American made knives out there that will do the same.

Let’s be real. Anything after 400usd these days for a standard lock type of production knife, the value you get diminishes much and much of it will just be inflated cost due to demand, perception and/or real/fabricated scarcity. Nowadays I look for innovative pieces to spend my money that break the mould to justify the high cost, instead of paying for overpriced branded knives that act more like men jewellery. All the shiros, hinderers, crks, striders, medfords, etc etc are all very much overpriced and boringly same for so many years that when you get one, there’s no point in getting any other. There isn’t really any much value for me paying for these knives or chasing them like mad online to pay for them at rrp prices that are already overpriced. At this stage, I would rather pay for a real custom art piece rather than waste money on the branded production knives.
