    The solutions you’ve made for the 150 have completely changed the view I have on my Prado and its overall utility. Whether the underbody tank, rear shelf and table - to the base rack awning brackets, all have been clearly well thought out and simplistic to install. I want to thank Tin and the team for transforming my car to a fully fledged off road camper. Keep up the good work!

    @ianmoone2359 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have bought KAON product for my Prado & like the engineering that goes into the product design & manufacture. With that said & out of the way - I’m not so much of a fan after watching this video. In essence you have created & installed so many products that now, there’s not enough payload left before reaching GVM for even the driver to legally get in it to drive it ffs. 🙄👎 Yes, now you’re going to have to do a GVM upgrade to be able to get you & your family in it legally to stay under max gvm. The upgrade MIGHT get you enough extra payload (500kg?) to actually fit your family into the vehicle legally again BUT, it still wouldn’t be legal to tow much if anything at all. The Max Towing limit on the later model 150 Prados after 2020 is 3 tonne, which means a 300kilo tow ball download, which has to be carried by the vehicle - out of its remaining payload capacity. So if you are already out of payload for even the driver, and you gain 500kilo extra payload by a GVM upgrade, then 4 passengers at 90 kilo each is 360kilos 300 kilos towball download & your already over your GVM again - so illegal to tow the max tow limit caravan. The simple facts are, you have “too much of a good thing! You’ve effectively bolted too much stuff onto the car to make it legally and logically useable on the road. I get it that it’s your business and maybe not everyone will opt to buy every KAON product and bolt it on as you have, in this video, however, in this instance it looks “over done” if you ask me. I’m reminded of the way that Indian truck drivers like to accessories & decorate their trucks, it’s a bit of a cultural thing. In this case I think this video does your company a slight disservice, in that it’s “over done”, to the point of not even being legal without spending $ thousands to upgrade the suspension & brakes for a GVM upgrade. And even then it’s no longer suited to towing basically. I’d class this as a fail myself. Again, I’m a happy KAON customer, so trying to give constructive criticism, not trying to troll you or tall poppy prune you for your deserved success. I think myself, part of the build process with customising a vehicle is knowing when to stop. In this case I think that point was reached with all the extra under body weight & a lot of the exterior add ons. My 2c

    • @KAONaust
      @KAONaust หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Ian, This is totally valid criticism, and the points you make are totally valid, especially for a regular touring vehicle. With the build, we tried to hit the balance of keeping it moderately attainable - we didn't go a huge lift and wheels, anything outlandish in terms of modifications to drivetrain, performance, etc - we wanted this to be an example of breathing new life into an old car and making it a reliable tourer. However, we did mention a few times throughout the build that while we wouldn't recommend adding everything we make to your own vehicle, the 150's true purpose for us is twofold. Trips is a part of it, but perhaps most importantly, we need it to function as a moving showroom. Customers come from all over to see us at the shows, and usually to touch and feel a product. We won't be towing. We aren't travelling with a family onboard. We understand that this might mean you feel this car is unsuitable for your average consumer, and we'd agree - it IS heavy, and we'd argue not many people need so much water. The reason we didn't shy away from talking about GVM is because that's a really important conversation to have. You don't need everything to get offroad, in fact, if you've ever watched some of our other content or talked to our team, we're pretty huge advocates for keeping things simple. But this Prado isn't for the average consumer, it's our demo vehicle, and perhaps most critically our R&D and test vehicle. It's designed to help customers visualise ways of solving problems, and so far, it's been instrumental in delivering real product feedback back into the business direct from customer interactions at shows. We hope you can understand that this has been a delicate balance to strike. We really appreciate comments like yours, for engaging in the conversation. It's an important one to have in our industry, and we're glad to have such insightful discourse happening in this space.

    • @ianmoone2359
      @ianmoone2359 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ I get exactly what you’re saying & I do understand your reasoning behind the decisions for product promotions at shows. I can’t knock you for that I guess. The water tank is an interesting topic. I wouldn’t mind having one except it ONLY fits with the Toyota OEM towbar. Surely you could engineer another tank that’s compatible with the after market towbar? 🤷‍♂️ A lot of people buy their car & add a towbar afterwards, on the Prado many avoid the Toyota bar because you have to cut the bumper bar to make it fit. Then after that’s out the way they discover “there’s a KAON water tank but it only fits if you have the Toyota tow bar. That just annoys potential customers IMHO. Just design a 2nd tank that fits after market tow bars - and let people choose which tank they want. Keep up the good work, I am a fan of the engineering that goes into the products. Quite a few I’d never add to my own vehicle but no doubt a lot would add them to theirs, so it’s all about meeting the market demand.

    • @jackh4787
      @jackh4787 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re an idiot. It’s clearly them building a “this is everything we can do”, as a demo car for sales and shows. Targeted towards tourers who don’t tow and live entirely out of the vehicle.

    • @KAONaust
      @KAONaust 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! It depends on which shelf you have. Assuming you have a Prado 150, we recently (Last 12 months) redesigned the Standalone Shelf so that it's handle brackets include nutserts to attach the Cargo Barrier to. If you have this model (KS0640) you do not need to uninstall the Shelf to install the barrier. If you have the older Shelf model, you will need to remove the shelf so you can layer the Cargo Barrier handle brackets.

      Undo the ratchet strap and the tyre mount / gas bottle can come off, and the hub mount is just two bolts. It doesn't add much to the process, given how infrequent tyre changes are for most.
