    Hi Maikel, Great video. The headlight bezel screws on my 1966 FHC have slotted heads. I’m almost certain these slotted screws are original. Perhaps Jaguar switched to Philips head sometime during 1966 production.

    Good Morning Maikel, top Video. For all E-Type Enthusiasts, it can be possible, to get the Front light scoop seals in internet shops for historic caravans. Another Trick, but Not original is to take the outer side of a Rubber covered cable. For the Glass mounting. A really Old Specialist told me, befor years ago, to heat up the Rubberseal in hot water, min. near 80 degrees. They are more softly and smooth. Best wishes, also to the camera Lady, Dieter and Sabine

  • @chrisgarside7974
    @chrisgarside7974 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Maikel, the difficulty you had in installing the rear hatch glass is probably due to the rubber seal. These do go hard with time and will make fitment of glass impossible. Best to always get fresh rubber seals from the manufacturer (COH Baines in the uk) as they are most likely to have fresh product. This is where NOS seals are not a good idea !

    • @JaguarEType
      @JaguarEType 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Chris, thank you for your good input. You might actually be right. I had a NOS Con Baines seal, still with the number tag on it, but god knows how old and I think it is really hard. I will try a brand new seal and as Dieter commented heat, I will also heat it up in boiling water. Now waiting for a new screen. Will keep you posted. But both tips are very useful to all of us. Thanks 👍🏻

    Great video gents, I absolutely love the attention to detail. On the subject of 2+2s, I just dropped the IRS from mine, and something tells me that’s the easy part!! As both you and Richard @RichardMichaelOwen are renowned experts on the E Types I have a question for you about a part that I’ve not seen covered in any E Type video. Im restoring my1970 2+2 and it has a breather tank, with 4 small hoses running to it, that’s tucked up inside the rear of the left rear quarter/wing. I managed to get the hoses off, that I labeled, and the 2 small self tappers, but how in the #### get it out! The gas filler tube is in the way. I can’t believe they built the car around it! Any help would be much appreciated, and thank you in advance 👍🏻 Keep posting these great videos, both of you

    • @JaguarEType
      @JaguarEType 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @colinwheeler2912 I am not exactly sure what hoses you are talking about. On the S1, there is a small breather hose from the fuel tank to the inlet stud ( high up in horizontal position pointing to the rear of the car) and another overflow hose from the stud next to the inlet down to the trunk floor. You see one hole from the top when you open the fuel filler flap and hole from underneath.3rd hose is the short, wide fuel inlet hose you mentioned. Can not think of anything else in that area. Hope this helps. Good luck 👍

Final bis was 150.000 GBP, hence did not reach the reserve but might have sold after the auction as the car came from Australia. So, fee and import taxes might apply as well. But as David said, not a collectors car and we did not measure the paint nor did we start the engine. I would like to know if it really sold and what the new owner really found 🤔 . It's a shame there are people who "restore" cars at this level, and yet the old saying of let the buyer beware is STILL applicable. This type of action is that of a second hand car salesman 😢

    • @JaguarEType
      @JaguarEType 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@JC-he7yk It can be two or more reasons. Usually the restorer does not know his job and is hoping the owner will not find out. Or the owner says, get it done as cheap as possible, it will be for sale anyway. With these rare cars, money should be spent wisely or not at all. We all see the result now in the very low price for messed up restorations compared with the high end blue chip cars which are indeed very, very are and valuable. You just need to know how to distinguish them. Usually an auction house is interested in the fee and usually can not be the expert in every single car they are offering.

    Once the body has been totally repaired and brought back to new condition is there a way to zinc dip the body before painting to prevent corrosion in the future? Is anyone doing this? What cost would be involved? Thank you

      @crissignori7482 I do not think that is needed. Some few people do ktl dipping but I think good primer and waxing is enough. Should last a generation.

Fantastico 😍 Italian language is very handy. But I do not speak Chinese 😅😂. So it is all relative. Hope you also enjoyed the 6 minutes of vintage 1968 movie at the end of my video. Hi Mikael, I’m learning so much from your videos. E types seem to have such a huge disparity in prices, even on comparable cars. Do you find there’s a price difference between Europe & UK cars, and how do you see the market going in the next year or 2? I’m starting out on the road of custodianship. Thank you.

    • @JaguarEType
      @JaguarEType หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your feedback. I find there is a difference in price between the UK and European market. Especially if you are trying to sell to Europe, the Brexit certainly did not help. A very original car, especially the early ones, is highly demanded and usually not offered it public. These cars (call them "blue chip") command a completely different price compared to a hurry up, passionless, reproduction restoration. The early, collectable cars will take the same route as the Ferrari Dino. Time has come that more and more people do understand the difference. However, there is still a low budget market for E Types that at first glance do look ok, but will require a substantial amount of money and a professional workshop to fix it. Not what everyone has at hand. Do not think that those cars, sold or offered for little money, are a bargain just because they have the E Type shape. It is the number of countless small details that make the difference between a valuable and a trouble car. Buying an E Type is a minefield, and you better make sure to have an expert with you and become fully aware of what you are dealing with. For many people, it is more convenient to sell a car cheap rather than spending a fortune to fix it. How many restorations stalled just because the costs exploded? 🤯 You can contact me for more information if required. maikel.lemke@etypes1.com

    Wonderful shop! I love the Alfa at 8:40, I'm trying to buy a 1971 Alfa 1750 GTV here in the US, the seller is an odd duck, he has 100 old cars rusting and sinking into the dirt, the Alfa is a sad one. It is complete but VERY rusty, he thinks he is sitting on gold though.
