Wes McAdams - Radically Christian
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 7 พ.ย. 2010
My name is Wes McAdams. I started RadicallyChristian.com in November of 2010. In the beginning, I focused on teaching people how to “do church,” but now I’m more interested in learning how to “be the church.” I’m slowly learning how to love God, my neighbors, and my enemies with the radically self-giving love of Jesus. I would be honored for you to join me on that learning journey!
Gratitude as a Spiritual Discipline
It’s hard to be thankful and grateful when life hurts and is overwhelming. But what if we learned to see gratitude as a discipline, not just a feeling? This episode of the Radically Christian Bible Study was recorded with a live audience. It includes real-time insights and reflections from the audience, making it a dynamic exploration of how gratitude can transform our spiritual lives.
We explore several passages from the book of Philippians. Drawing from Paul's example of being joyful and thankful even while imprisoned, we discuss how gratitude is more than a feeling-it's an intentional practice rooted in faith and trust in God's goodness.
You'll hear practical ideas for cultivating a mindset of thankfulness, regardless of your circumstances, and come away with a renewed sense of how gratitude can deepen your relationship with God and reflect his love to the world.

Powerful discussion ❤
Upon learning about Stoic physics and logic (not only ethics, which is the final "advise") i believe its compatible. Stoics propose there is an Active agent and a passive agent. The Active agent is that which creates and gives form, its fully powerful to take the passive and affect it. Something like basically God. The Stoic sage is someone who is fully entuned with Nature and what did happen, what does happen and what will happen. An ideal person who speaks only in truth, fully perfect truth because he knowns perfectly how the gods' operate and move the world..... This is Jesus. Jesus would be a stoic sage. And so much more. Of course how Zeno of cyprus and early greek stoica or even how Marcus aurelius and later roman stoics talk about the Gods and Zeus is not compatible, but the ideas are. Same with things like wealth and fame. Stoics taught that a good life is one lived in virtue, and peace, wealth, fame, renown etc. are neutral to it. So wealth is nice to have sure, but its not something to chase after and make it your goal. Likewise Jesus taught that having wealth was not a good nor bad thing, but the love of money was.
Why must I suffer all day every single day of my life? God offers healing but you say it's wrong. Why? Using the creation of Adam and Eve is dishonest. When they were cast out of Eden disease and deformity became possible. The body we have now cannot possibly be God's desire for us. It's the product of a fallen world.

Thank you. Listened thanksgiving morning ❤
Again !!!!!❤. Needed this
Our God wants us to be grateful 🙏🙏
When you are grateful and you have a journal to be grateful as every day practice is easy to be grateful for me is a discipline to seat and be grateful to our awesome God 🙏
Thank you so much my beloved brother Wes for teaching us. I love you so much.
Luke 9:23 desiring to follow Jesus takes a denial on our part everyday taking up our cross daily then we can follow Him.
Oh so good! I have jotted notes all over scrap paper I could reach at the moment. 😁 When we see the gift, we see the Giver … even during the times our physical eyes can’t see the gift, and we have to rely on our “faith eyes” to see Him. 😊 One of the many points that jumped out at me this morning, “We don’t grow more like Jesus by accident”. Yes… spiritual discipline helps our spiritual “muscle memory” to react more easily in the ways of Jesus. Thanks for this podcast today! 😊
Thanks, Wes - I purchased Logos about a month ago and was unhappy with the product. I've been using free versions for the past 20 years, so this was initially unfamiliar and unwieldy. This video helped immensely! Hud
Yes Noah was found righteous in Gods eyes but he was not God and Ham's descendents were cursed from Canaan to today because of Noahs sin of drunkeness which lead to unrighteous anger and cursing. Canaan's descendents were the arch enemy of their cousins the Jews who were Shems descendents. Slavery of the african peoples was as a result of misinterpretation of this scripture justifying that black people were cursed be servant of servants and slave of slaves. Jesus broke all curses on the cross redeemed by his blood and sanctified by the word of his testimony.
Wow, what a wonderful gift this has been. I wanted to hear more from Dr. Rubel. I could just sit and soak up his knowledge. The way both of you have presented the information is lined with empathy, compassion, and grace AND with scholarly evidence of God's call in aligning with His good and perfect plan for us to flourish. I want to hear more.
They push conformity to this world over conforming to God's kingdom. They don't understand what it means to be trans so their reasoning is distorted from the truth.

So incredibly thankful to hear these specific concepts discussed! Words I feel like I've waited to hear, as a sister growing up in the church. God's Spirit, and mercies are mind blowing. That grace that I feel has always escaped my understanding. I will be sharing this alot! Thank you brothers!
The Blueprint Theology has created a lot of fear in people because we've presented it as something that must be done in order to maintain salvation. In other words, salvation is not based on the finished work of Christ but on our ability to correctly determine (and then maintain) what the Bible teaches. This has expressed itself by teaching, albeit indirectly, that salvation comes by being in the right church. The church is the result of being in Christ, not the means of being in Christ.
I'm looking for answers about binding, and loosed,
Noah's routine new nakedness was his drunken (post-flood new wine chemistry that created alcohol) neglect of his awareness that his son Ham was sexually active with Noah's wife, Ham's mother; and she gave birth to Canaan, without Noah's realization till much later Ham needed to cover his tracks by getting his other brothers to cover his father's nakedness, that is, cover Ham's sexual activities with Ham's mother, Noah's wife in effect, Canaan, whilst Ham's youngest and last son, was not Noah's own, by his own wife, but by Ham's incest with Ham's mother, and in effect, Canaan was essentially a half-brother to Ham, Shem, and Japheth Noah's "nakedness" exposed, was Ham's affair with Noah's wife, mother to Ham, and his last son Canaan, as well as mother to both Ham's brothers: Shem and Japheth Ham's last son, Canaan, was born from his own mother, his father's wife, instead of born from Ham's own wife Ham's other older sons were born from Ham's own wife, but not his last one; having taken advantage of Noah's new drunken habits, and had a d'alliance/affair with his mother, his father's wife this is a possible explanation, regarding Canaan, without expressing the explicit situation of maternal incest Ham set the pattern for maternal incest which may have affected his other older sons, such Cush, and his son, Nimrod, and his mother, Semiramis, as recorded in profane (non-biblical) history

@RadicallyChristian thank you. Great lesson.
Yes! That worry and judgement .. I'm judging them for what I think they are thinking of me!! That is so wrong on so many levels!
My favorite lament: "More Holiness Give Me".. can't sing this enough!😊
So now it’s Christ plus Stoicism?
One lives in accordance with nature. The other lives in accordance with the supernatural.
I love this discussion! Unfortunately, in most congregations, these postures in prayer and singing are not acceptable. I hope this changes. And, yes, worship is not just Sunday!
In Need …a lament for me.
I used to do that months ago. It is a beautiful feeling. My brother Wes, thank you so much. I give God thanks for you every single day, because the way you teach and love God. The world needs more christians like you. I love you so much in the love of God brother Wes.
What a kind word of encouragement! Thank you so much! Have a blessed day!
Loved this!!!! Do you listen to Christian songs with musical accompaniment? As a Church member I’ve wondered as I do enjoy it in my home and and car. Not in worship service. Your thoughts?
I do now. I didn't for a very long time. That is a very recent change for me.
@@RadicallyChristian I like Josiah Queens songs but he could totally do it without instruments and it would be great
Ham was wrong but Noah cursing is mistake of him. That teach us to be careful with our words cause our words may bring blessings and curses especially to our children.
So thankful for this episode brother. It’s been a great one to share with others I love as a good starting place for healthier dialogue. I particularly like how it was emphasized we all have this in common. For us to truly grow we have to start here in genuine self reflection.
A very hearty discussion that gives me some healthy challenges. Thank you ❤️
I wonder if there is a point at which we need to reject doctrines or if we are obligated to listen to all of them. This seems like it would be an impossible task given how many different (and conflicting) ideas there are. If we are to remain steadfast in something, we must then believe that it is the correct doctrine.
That is likely why summary statements of the Gospel, or "Christ hymns," became so important in the early church and why later creeds were developed. There are some core fundamental doctrines that need to be settled in our minds. These are issues on which we must not entertain any contradictory ideas. However, sometimes we ourselves might not understand even these fundamental doctrines correctly and when someone tries to help us understand them better, we reject their instruction because we are unwilling to consider any new information. All of this is why we have to be so fully invested in Jesus that we are humble enough to keep learning the way of Christ more perfectly and completely.
Thank you for this conversation. Helpful. 👍🏻👍🏻😊
I like stoicism and feel like its compatable. But also feel like christinas should keep 1 cortithians 8 in mind and not indulge in things if it will make our brothers stray from faith.
I have watched the Chosen. Is it a sin to view images of Christ?
God made Adam and Eve perfect so your body must be perfect, right? No? Then why do you think anyone's body is exactly what God wants for us?
Please pray for me! I was briefly saved but I went back to the sin of believing new age version of Christ. Am I doomed?
No one is doomed who has a heart to repent and follow the will of Jesus.
@RadicallyChristian I'm just getting to the end of the video; and it gave me comfort because I am repentant and I turned away from new age. Thank you!
Is it sinful to have images of Jesus as depicted in "The Chosen"?
I am saddened by this discussion. The preacher of the church I am part of also takes your stance about not getting involved in politics. From what I understand, there is evil and good, darkness and light in this world. You say vote but it doesn't really matter because we're sojourners here. Is abortion a political issue or sin issue? Is gender reassignment a political issue or a sin issue? Is homosexuality a political issue or sin issue? Which country has helped to spread the gospel to other countries and peoples more?
This can't be correct because it doesn't align with scripture. Matthew 19 9 does not in any way call divorce itself sinful. In every translation that I have seen Jesus puts an "and" right after divorces his wife. The "and" is undisputable proof that divorce in and of itself is not sinful. A man has to combine divorce and marrying another after said divorce to commit the sin of adultery. That's verbatim. That verse is to protect an innocent woman. If the woman has already committed adultery she can be divorced without any penalty on the divorcing husband. Another point is that God doesn't make laws condoning sin. If we aren't sure about how strict he was on Moses not strictly keeping his commands verbatim, let's check out how God punished him for changing up what God said. God wouldn't even allow his bones to cross into the promised land. So why would Moses come up with his own laws to allow something that God hated. Oh yeah Moses didn't make any laws. He just had the copy that God gave him. God himself divorced both of his wives. Man could marry more than one wife at the same time. God himself gave men wives. That's not adultery. God hates divorce so that negates his right to marry more women. If man divorces his wife and doesn't marry another he doesn't cause his wife to sin. If he married another wife and doesn't divorce his current wife he still doesn't cause her to commit adultery. I have never seen anywhere in the bible where divorce by itself is a sin.
Great theme and comments. Having said that, we obviously have a different government system than the Israelites or Christians in the first century, in that we can vote. Since voting is a part of our society, should we use it to open the most accessible route to reach the lost? In other words, would voting for someone hinder or help what we are striving to accomplish? We seem to have made abortion the measuring stick of who we support. While it is certainly a very important topic to consider, it is not the only one. There are ideologies of both candidates to which I agree and disagree. Some see that, some don't. And that's ok. One shining point you made which I think is at the crux of this topic is if someone who votes differently than you affects. how you treat or talk to them, you've made politics your idol. Well done, brothers.
🌿💐🌿
From what I got from this video is:---God raises up the leaders, the politicians and so we are to let God do this ...BUT... God (from what I learned and think) works through people to accomplish His choices soooooo ....maybe God will SPEAK to each of us as to how to vote or not to vote, ...hummmmm. Now in the scriptures it does say something to the effect" come , let us reason together"...I think we are to make the best choice we can using our knowledge of the Bible and let Jesus take care if it...hummmm A bit confusing, still
This Podcaster starts out by saying "except it be for sexual immortality". The Scriptures doesn't say that. It says except it be for 'Fornication'. Jesus was talking about pre marriage. Once a man and a woman are married they can no longer commit fornication in God's definition. They would be adulterers at that point.. ❤🙏🏾
The word in Greek is actually "porneia," which is a broad term that includes any kind of sexually immoral behavior. It would include sex before marriage, but it would also include other types of sexually immoral behavior, including adultery.
@RadicallyChristian Are you saying that the (Original kjv) is wrong for where it says (fornication)? There is a difference between Fornication and Adultery. Fornication is where 2 (unmarried) are having sex and Adultery is where 2 (married) are having sex outside their marriage. Once a person is married they can no longer commit fornication as they are now under God's covenant of marriage. 2 single people cannot commit Adultery until they are under the law of marriage.
@@RadicallyChristian Also, whoremongers is another term for single people having (unmarried) sex. Hebrews 13:4 King James Version 4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. Notice how God (separates) whoremongers (and) adulterers.. ❤️🙏🏾
Matthew 19:9 King James Version 9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
Please remember that in (God's) eyes when a man is (cleaving) to a woman, he is cleaving to his (wife to be). So God considers that woman his wife what we now call engaged. To give an example of (God's) terminology with the word wife, please take a look at how God talked about Joseph and Mary. Joseph was not yet married, but God called Mary his wife. Is that right or wrong?
We’re Scott Hahn and Walter Bergsma ever cited during this teaching? They wrote a journal on this in 2005.
The early Church had no Bible. I don't believe Jesus loves me because the Bible tells me so. We've made the Bible an Idol. Christ lives in me. He is personal & is the objective in everything I am and what I do.
Why were there NO Believers when Jesus died? NO one believed in the Resurrection. Not one person looked for an empty tomb. Also, Paul wrote and developed leaders in the early Church, who discipled them? Paul, who was never discipled himself?
I love listening to you both 😊
2 Peter 2 talks about similar things, but refers to being re-entangled after having "escaped the defilements of the world". Is the meaning of this similar to the meaning of Hebrews 6? (i.e., that you've essentially given up on, or rejected Jesus due to becoming so hardened?). I fell back into adultery 3 or 4 times over a 20 year period (as well as idolatry), but have since repented, and asked God to "do what it takes" to help keep me from ever falling in this way again... So far so good, but 2 Peter 2 is also a whopper of a warning!!!
Idolaters, which you are if you believe your salvation is owing to your conduct. Idolatry is apparently being taught here.
Thank you! Very clear message.
