BIG PROBLEMS FOUND !!! Deck Replacement and Extension - Part 1, How To Fix the Rusted Veranda Posts
Hi Thanks for Hanging Out!
In this video, we'll start the next project to replace all the rotten timber on this Deck and add onto it while we're at it for some extra space.
We were hoping that the structure under the rotted decking boards would be good enough to re-use. Once we started to remove the decking, it was clear that the bearers and joists were just as bad and would need to be replaced.
That wasn't the worst of though, EVERY Veranda Post was rusted off at the bottom and rotted around the bolts, they were only being held up by the dirt under the edge of the deck itself and left hanging when all that was taken away, they had to be fixed before we could move on.
Our Labrador was having a good run around and keeping a close watch on what I was doing and signed off on all the work and I was very happy with how everything went too.
Part 2 we'll set out the new deck and get the sub-structure in, stick around for that as soon as I can get it done and uploaded.
Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video. Any questions or comments, please leave them below.

FIRST JOB DONE !!! Mini Excavator Work, Grass & Concrete Removal for a Deck Extension
มุมมอง 1.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi Thanks for Hanging Out! In this video, you'll see me get to work on the first job with the Mini Excavator I've just serviced. This is the very first time running an excavator of any description for me, I'm excited to get to use and learn it and I expect I'll be slow to start with . . . and I was. I felt like the action of the controls got quicker and I made less mistakes, but I still need to...
NEW BUCKET TEETH on the Mini Excavator and Other Maintenance
มุมมอง 5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi Thanks for Hanging Out! In this video, I'll do the last few things needed to get the Mini Excavator ready for use, I'll re-install the ROPS I took off to get it in the shop, change the Bucket Teeth and fix the fuel filler lid that wouldn't lock. I had a few issues with everything this time around and in particular the first old bucket tooth pin was a royal pain. I eventually got it out and t...
MINI EXCAVATOR Service, Getting it Ready for Action!
มุมมอง 1.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi Thanks for Hanging Out! In this video, I'll show you everything I did to get the new to me Mini Excavator serviced and ready for moving some dirt! This is an entry level mini excavator and shortly I'll upload a video of it in action and I'm really impressed, it was the model that led to the popular U17 series and it shows. Apart from some scratches here and there and a few small maintenance ...
VINTAGE STREET SIGN Installation - Saved from the scrap heap!
มุมมอง 2592 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi Thanks for Hanging Out! In this video, I'll show you how I go about tidying up and mounting this old vintage street sign. This method could be used for any similar piece that you'd want to mount to a wall in a similar way. This project didn't need any fancy tools, you could do it with a drill and hacksaw, so get after it and give it a go. We're really happy with the patina on the sign, the d...
HOW to BUILD an Entryway Console Table, a Great DIY Project!
มุมมอง 2032 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi Thanks for Hanging Out! In this video, I'll show you how I go about building a sleek, modern, timber & steel entryway console table. With a simple design and a prefab timber top, I think this is a great project if you're new to welding or wanting to learn welding, the joints and assembly aren't too difficult and the timber top only needed some sanding and a finish. Overall I'm very happy wit...
Mounting ANTIQUE Wooden Boat Oars for Less than $20
มุมมอง 2.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi Thanks for Hanging Out! In this video, I'll show you how I go about making the straps and mounting a pair of Antique Wooden Boat Oars. The piece of leather cost $13, the punch was $3 and the toggles $3, everything else I used I already had. If you don't have a good pair of shears/scissors like I did, a sharp knife and straight edge would work well too. The mounting went well and we're really...

Hi, Thanks for Hanging Out! In this video, I'll show you how I go about Making a Custom Multi-Grip Chin-Up Bar for a Mate of mine, customised to his Squat Rack. Hi, Thanks for Hanging Out! In this video, I'll show you how I go about Fabricating a Trailer Cage. My neighbour and I took down an old fence and the mesh was perfect to recycle into this project. Howdy, thanks for watching and the comment, and yes, you're right this frame is not particularly strong and I knew that building it, most times I can tie down to the trailer still and avoid too much pressure on the frame. Hi there, thanks for watching, appreciate it 😀. I should think a silicon sealant would be ok, it would depend on the construction of the garden shed. I'd ask a sales person at a hardware store for some advice on suitable sealants for the job.

    3 comments...1) Spectacular job on the restoration and video documentation there of. I got some great ideas the best of which was using a file to trim the blue tape along the edges. Great job! 2) Please oh please never again with the techno "music". I would much prefer to hear the sound of you breathing, tools clinking and rattle cans rattling! Anything other than that repetitive dreck! 3) You said you had a guard. Why weren't you using it!!?! My testicles actually retracted back into my abdomen watching you pass your hands over those exposed knives. I have personally witnessed amputations on tablesaws and jointers in my woodworking career. They are horrible life altering events. Don't ever do that again!

    • @hangingoutwithhally7463
      @hangingoutwithhally7463 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you and thanks for watching. All I did was make sure they were clean, masked off the timber to make sure there was no overspray and then used a spray paint specific to metal, if you go to any hardware store, they would be able to advise you on a suitable paint. If these were already painted, you would want to scuff the surface and remove any loose or flaking paint before your top coat. Any rust can be sanded out or treated using rust converters, and a hardware store would also be able to advise on a suitable product. Hope that helps, good luck.

    Thank you for doing the video of this. Do you have the model of what jointer that is? I’m about to try and get running I think the same jointer but I’m missing the tensioner spring for the blade guard and didn’t know if you could do a short video or any recommendations where to get one specifically for the 30289 6” Jointer by Central Machinery I have. Hi CT, the model is a Toolex WJ-150 6" Jointer. I'm sure it's sold under a few different names depending on your region, if you can find a manual online, that might help with the part you're after, hope this helps and thanks for watching, appreciate it, cheers!🙂

      @@ct3282 Hi CT, great to hear you're getting the Jointer up and running. I don't know exactly where to get the spring from, but I'd think that most machinery spare parts stores would be able to match something for you, like vespertools.com.au/product/jointer-planer-spring-guard/ (I'm not sure of your region). Hope that helps 😀

    Hey, what size drill bits did you use to drill the holes in the slab for the Ankascrews? and how deep? Thanks

    • @hangingoutwithhally7463
      @hangingoutwithhally7463 ปีที่แล้ว

      Howdy, they were 8mm Ankascrews, so the drill bit size was 8mm, (that's how they are designed). This concrete pad was fairly thin, so I ended up drilling completely through, but I'd recommend drilling 10mm more than the embedment depth so if any dust gets caught in the bottom of the hole it won't stop the screw going in, make sure to blow out the hole before using the screws. Hope that helps and thanks for stopping by to check it out, appreciate it 😀

    Sorry but could not watch the video, the absolute, annoying, loud music, ruined it for me anyway would’ve like to see the restoration

    Woodworking, restoring machines and electronic music are among the finer things in life. Nice job restoring! Thank you for posting!!
