Nick's Garage Builds
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 12 ม.ค. 2023
Hello Everyone my name is Nick and thanks for checking out my channel! Nicks Garage Builds is all about the many things I build, with a heavy emphasis on electric builds. The builds range from full Motorcycle builds, down to something like the battery. I have a passion for learning new skills, but also sharing my knowledge with anyone. I hope you enjoy, and lets go build something!
Kuberg Freerider Fixed And It Rips!!
I finally was able to procure a motor to fix the Kuberg. I was able to fix the leaky front fork and replace the blown rear shock with a massive upgraded one! Finished off this with a nice little competitive Drag Race with some of the Boys.

Kuberg Freerider TONS OF ISSUES!!
มุมมอง 2.3Kปีที่แล้ว
Hello fellow E-bike, E dirt bike, and E-anything fans! I bought this Kuberg Freerider from a a buddy in California knowing it had "some" issues. I quickly realize that almost everything is extremely difficult to get and SUPER expensive! This will be a 3 part series as I get this thing back to its former glory, and we'll see just how fast it is!
Amorge Lithium Battery Teardown. Overall Build And Quality Assessment
มุมมอง 8Kปีที่แล้ว
Amorge is known to be one of the cheapest battery builders, with some of the best specs. Like many I wanted to see the inside to determine how the build quality was and how they are always $700-$300 dollars cheaper than any competitor. Amorge can be found on Alibaba and is shipped from China. They will make custom sizes and even let you choose the cell and BMS type!. They have been extremely ac...
In Depth Razor Swing Arm Extension With A FULLY ADJUSTABLE Chain Tensioner
มุมมอง 8Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video I use a Swing Arm from a King Cobra 50 CX50SR, cut it, and fit it into the end of the MX Swing Arm. The swing arm is fully adjustable for chain tension. I have linked the type of swing arm which can often be found on Ebay for $50 - $65 shipped. Also in the very near future the rear brake will be offered on Ride or Die research and Development! All Amazon links are Affiliate links....
In Depth UPGRADED FORK Install For Razor
มุมมอง 11Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video I show you how to make your own bushings from the provided bolt with a front fork kit. I also cover the install of the Forks, upgraded MX brake, and upgraded 14" wheel. I have also attached options for a ready made bushing kit and all the things we used to assemble the bike. All Amazon links are Affiliate links. The rest I get zero kick back. If you want just bushings already made...
AWESOME TRAIL RIDING WITH MY RAZOR MX TO TEST THE NEW EC4P AND THERMAL COMPARISON TO THE MY1020.
มุมมอง 10Kปีที่แล้ว
In my last video the MY1020 burnt up after a total of 24 minutes of riding! In this video I show the EC4P install and hit the same trails, but even harder! Still with my extremely Modified Razor MX! Video to the build explanation: th-cam.com/video/6oiXZpFmovQ/w-d-xo.html
EC4P ELECTRO & CO PROGRAMMING TO KELLY USING KIDS FIRE TABLET
มุมมอง 2.7Kปีที่แล้ว
This video is a combination of 2 things. First being how to use a cheap Fire Tablet to program a Kelly Controller via bluetooth! This also covers what to program when purchasing the new EC4P Electro and Co Motor.
I Take a Kids Razor MX Dirt Bike and modify it to Look and Feel More Like an 85CC!!
มุมมอง 27Kปีที่แล้ว
I started down this road over a year ago and had no idea it would lead to this obsession! In this video I go over a finished Razor MX650 Dirt Bike, with many custom parts, and the things I still need to fix. Yes these are affiliate links! amzn.to/3x9FuTN. Front Forks amzn.to/3IdjEF7. Hi nick how safe is it to solder a new tx90 to the battery side!? I’m so scared.! 72v mini 20a. I gotta do something about it or I got no battery… 😮😊❤
It should be fine you just need to take your time! Just take extra precaution so positive and negative don’t touch!
By far one of the best looking builds! Would love to do a builds based off yours!! Not sure if you have a full list of everything you did and the parts. Would be awesome
Obviously not the custom stuff, but other items are all in the description
great video helped alot
Hi, I cannot get my free rider to go into calibration mode, even after verifying the throttle and button work
Can you make a full tutorial I want to make this
Where did you get the swing arm suspension?
Dude? WTF get back in the garage and make and electric dirt bike from a 250 gasser.
lol I know right. Been working on a Golf Cart Battery startup. I love the electric dirt bikes, but the golf cart is just much more family friendly
At the moment im trying to build a razor sx500 with a 8inch swingarm extension and put 16” and 17” wheels on it and everytime im stuck i always come back to this video. This build is genuinely impressive.
Glad it helps!
Those handlebars lol
If i put a 17 inch front wheel on mine with upgraded forks, will the wheel hit the frame or fender if it bottoms out?
Depends on the length of fork. If it’s the normal 630mm forks, yes absolutely. I believe the ones I have are 720mm
what chain do you have on there ? i’m building a 14 inch wheel with “the one” motor from electro and co and want to know what would fit and not break
It’s T8F, but I would use #35H at minimum. T8F stretches and wears too much
What was it in the end? Was it 200 line amp or peak? Awesome video! Very brave of you to take one for the team and unwrap a brand new battery like that.
So it is 200 line amps and I think 340 peak. More than most these tiny bikes should ever have lol
Darn I’ve seen a lot of builds this thing is great! The throttle is awesome! The forks you fitted with brakes 😮! On off switch nice! I hadn’t seen those plastics with seat placement super cool. You are awesome! 5 out of 5 exclamation points😊. I wish you lived in Boise area
Thank you! There are a lot of great builders out there
Is it the 14kw or 8kw? And Is 1300$ a good deal for used freerider? The 20in tire and 8kw motor version?
I would personally avoid
super underrated, hope you keep posting, you help so much
I needed to know myself! Thanks
Nice, I liked and subscribed
what rear shock is that
Thank you so much!
How long did it take to come?
Too long. I air shipped and it still took 30 days. Better off waiting slightly longer and having it shipped by boat
how many milimeters is the rear shock and fork
735mm front fork and 220mm rear shock
i got an amorge but its only 24 AH out of 32 AH @ Full charge @ 4.2 volts why would the battery have lower AH than marked?
Curious how you are measuring Ah of the entire battery vs the individual cells?
@@NicksGarageBuilds has an app it shows the total battery AH out of the capacity. After I took off the charger AH balanced out to 31.33 out of 32 cells were like 4.150 volts so IDK but i think the battery is good? weird glitch on the app was showing the AH as 24 out of 32 when charging was completed
@@Nouri_TV The ant BMS app?
@@andyfumo8931 yeah amorge battery from econic
I have a good question. I am actively talking to Grace right now about building my battery. I am skeptical because she said she can build me a Molicel P50b 72v 75ah 420amp discharge. But Molicel has not released the P50b as of today from what I can see.
That’s a good sized battery! They may have early access, but I can’t say for certain! All I know is they seem to have a decent track record. I know from talking to others it seems they are getting way behind though. Probably growing a bit more than they were ready for.
Are you close to ny
Nope Austin TX
How do you adjust the forks??
Mine had damper adjustment screws on the top
@@NicksGarageBuilds mine doesn't, munst be nice?
You never know with these cheap forks. Some do and some don’t. I’ve seen where they change them as well despite buying the same set.
i bought the same bike 2 years ago before i even got into this sport properly. and i already bought it broken for about 1700€ wich i thought was a gereat price too. since i bought it blind tho, i didnt know that the controller battery are 100% dead. i was sure about the battery not the controller tho. turned out the controller burned down. and he crashed since a peg was bent and the throttle was broken. now i sold the motor and threw away the rest, i bought the surron motor and the neww electro and co trumoto controller, and now im trying to rebuild this bike but with surron parts for better upgrade ability and after market parts.... good luck to you.... i really love this bike buy it looks except a few little things, but i defenitely wanna make that work since the surron is not really a bike iw oudl want to have.....
That’s pretty smart to take Surron parts
So a stock razor MX 500 frame you can put the CRF 50 plastics and tool seat and they just bolt on no modifications needed?? Awesome looking build. I’m in the process of building a razor MX 500 pit bike do you recommend the extended swing arm? It looks nice
Yeah the plastics go on with very little work. Almost perfect. I certainly recommend a swing arm. They are pretty small bikes and that swing arm adds a ton of stability
doing god's work son. salute
If we don’t upgrade to 12mm bolt, could we just buy 10mm bolt and keep stock bushings and that’s all we do, or do we need to cut down the bolt that comes with forks?
Bolts that are stock are not long enough. You can use a 10mm and most do. I just prefer 12mm for the rigidity
Why do you like the 12" 14" set up better than 14" 17" rear front?
For the frame of the bike a 17/14 doesn’t feel right. I have that setup as well and it works great, just looks kinda funny in my opinion
Where is a good place to get this Controller.
Amorge told me my cells aren’t balanced on my batteries and they’re sending me a new “intelligent BMS”…what is this and how the heck will I install it?
That is unfortunate. That can happen with all batteries. Regarding BMS replacement. If you don’t have much experience with that kind of thing I would strongly advise paying someone with experience to do it or teach you. But in my opinion they shouldn’t be sending you parts to fix a battery. Is it under the “warranty”?
@@NicksGarageBuilds I’m not sure what the warranty is…it’s been far less than a year since I ordered. I will ask about replacement instead. Who would I go to for repair? I’m not even sure what kind of business does that kind of thing.
Pretty sure warranty is 1 yr. Yeah there is not many if any “official” business that perform those kind of repairs. Your best bet is to get a replacement. Depending on what they say on what to do with the old one throw it on Marketplace or similar as broken. Guarantee someone will either know how to repair it or at least be interested.
what do you need to buy with spending the least amount of koney
How are the tensioners holding up with offroad use? I'm building a swingarm and I'm since it's steel I'm worried about rust on the inside and seizing the tensioner block
Haven’t had any issues. I put grease where the blocks slide though
Hi got the same bike :-) mine also in a bad shape. Senley motor? never heard of it, do you know where i can get one. Regards from Sweden
So other have bought the Senli 50. You will likely have to swap the end caps, but others seem to have done it. Saw it on FB in a Kuberg group
You can increase the space in the Kuberg Freerider battery compartment, cut off the lower tubes and measure how far they can be lowered behind the battery so that the shock-absorbing fork in front does not touch the frame. It seems to me that this is possible by 15 cm or more
Not a bad idea. It can be a fun bike, just wish I had larger wheels for the rocky terrain we have
Hi, what size are those upgrade tyres?
They didn’t add as much as I would have hoped, but I like the stiffness of the tire a lot more. Kept getting flats on the creepy crawler. New size is 3.0/20”
What controller and motor will you recommend for a 48v budget set up.
I wouldn’t waste my money on the MY1020 personally. EC4P whatever version and a fardriver are my go to for budget
Silent G?
Not sure if anyone knows haha. It’s just my best guess
Which rear shock do you think will be better for off-roading and doing jumps air shock or coil shock?
I assume when you say coil you mean a hydraulic shock with a coil? I despise the air shocks off-road. My personal opinion
@@NicksGarageBuilds ok thanks.
Would you sell the parts you used a lathe to make in order to fit those front forks? I’ll be needing a pair as well but I don’t have a lathe? Thanks !
Would love to just never have the time! Plus plenty of folks now sell bushing kits
I know this is probably a weird question but how tall are you? I'm looking to build my mx650 for a better fit to my size and with a more powerful motor.
Nah valid question if you’re looking for how you want to do your setup. I’m 5’11” on a good day. I will say even if you stretch the swing arm or put larger forks on you are still left with the smaller sized frame. Not a lot you can do about that. Add some drop pegs can help a little
@NicksGarageBuilds plans are 735mm front forks, 6" stretch on rear with 240mm shock, 17 front wheel and 14 rear. And lowering the pegs. I'm 6ft 3 everything helps haha I make my mt07 look small ans that's a full size motorcycle 😅
love your video man im getting the ec4p asap just by looking at this video i can feel it
Thanks! Honestly I don’t promote any company’s, but I will say that this motor has been solid. Almost 1 year in and my big bike still hasn’t ruined it
just one more question do you feel like its powerful enough to lift the front of the bike because i also have upgraded forks?@@NicksGarageBuilds
With a 72v battery minimum 150amps continuous yes
where can i buy the forks adapter to fit for the razor
I know Ride or Die R&D sells some
What size rear sprocket are you running here? I'm assuming it's from Rebel Gears? If you have a different source for sprockets could you share?
That was an 80 tooth T8F from electric scooter parts. I have since switched to Rebel who makes a much more quality sprocket
@@NicksGarageBuildsDid the ESP in the video do OK while you had it though?
Yes it just binds with the chain and it’s not nearly as fancy as the Rebel gears.
Hey Nick, is the hole spacing on these pit bike wheels pretty standard? I bought one off eBay and I need to find a rear sprocket.
That’s tough to say. I know most the cheaper ones on Amazon are genetically the same. Resembles more of the Chinese bikes though. Can’t say I’ve bought a wheel off eBay before, but chances are all the same.
@@NicksGarageBuilds I actually found the same brand you linked so figured it was OK.
@@NicksGarageBuilds What size rear sprocket is on this bike?
I can see why gas bikes being loud is safer for other people on the trails.
Yup I agree.
Is this battery still holding up? and can you get water on it without it causing problems or no? Thanks
Sure is! It probably gets used more than most. I would say the water proofing is decent. I think it’s ok to splash it and ride in rain sparingly. I don’t think it could ever handle any submersion though
@@NicksGarageBuildsOk thanks for the reply. Would you recommend a stock surron battery or an amorge battery if I can get the stock surron battery for $400 with 1000 miles on it.
Tough question to answer without knowing what you intend on using it with, motor/controller. My Surron battery has been super reliable, but it fits terrible in most applications outside of Surron. It also lacks that punch that the Amorge batteries have. I think moving forward I won’t install anything below 150 amps continuous unless it’s just a little cruiser. I intend on taking my Surron battery and installing into a little Coleman 100.
@@NicksGarageBuilds Oh ok. My motor is an 1800w vevor, and my controller is a 45 amp controller that works with 48-72v range. However, i can also get a surron motor and controller for an extra $400, so that I could have a full surron setup in the razor for $800 total. What would you recommend?
Can’t say I’ve ever ran a full Surron setup before. My issues with all that stuff is you can’t change any settings. Honestly just comes down to what you want to install it in and how much fabric work you want to do. Not sure where you at, but in Austin we can grab Surron setups for around $600
Thanks, that was informative and interesting!
I’m glad you felt that way! To someone like me that’s a huge compliment
How much does it cost, the bike i mean and how different it is from a sur ron on your opinion?
So I think the bike brand new still goes for around 5k. Great question on the comparison. I personally think a Surron or Talaria handle better off road, but this thing kills them on power. So if you’re looking to cruise some in town streets and stunts I think this bike is better. If you enjoy trails like I do then a Surron is better. I just wish those had more power sadly
kills on power. my talaria has 18kw what u got the motor looks small surly the thing only dose max 8kw @@NicksGarageBuilds
@@Alicia-u6b1q yeah I shouldn’t probably say kill. It is faster than a stock surron or talaria. But with mods to either both surron and talaria rip. I’m more talking about out of the box stock. I agree the motor is pretty small but it’s fast. I’m pretty sure that’s why it burns up so easily. They push it to absolute max
@@Alicia-u6b1q Depends, Stock kuberg can do 14kw, stock surron is 6kw, and your talaria is prob way more expensive
@@Alicia-u6b1qsearch up electro and co and you’ll see some cool razors around 20kw which is overKILL
Sweet ! Just ordered the rear wheel You recommended, do you know if can I use the stock bolt ? If not could you recommend what I’ll need. Thanks
So stock bolt is 12mm and this wheel calls for a 15mm bearing ID. You can go 2 routes. I personally bought a new axle and just drilled out my swing arm for a 15mm bolt. The other option I never tried would be to find a bearing that fits, but goes to a 12mm diameter. Bolt if you go 15mm bolt route amzn.to/3tA0zbQ Replacement bearings that bring it to stock 12mm size. Then you should be able to reuse all hardware.will need 2 obviously amzn.to/3RLHuLM
