crankbait bass fishing in shallow water during the summertime
Summer can be one of the toughest times to catch bass due to the intense heat but don’t let that discourage you from going out! Bass can sometimes be lethargic and unwilling to chase down lures due to hot water temperatures but with the crankbait I can deflect it off structure or cover to generate a reaction strike making the most inactive bass take a bite. Cover a lot of water during the hottest part of the day and find active fish or get inactive fish to strike!

I’ve never used electronics to find fish but I bought a Garmin striker cast castable sonar and it definitely helped out in locating bluegills/redear sunfish out there. Shore fishing on the ca delta? All the ogs say it’s almost impossible to consistently shore pound
It’s possible on the right tides and time of day. Weekdays are better, weekends are more challenging for bank fishing on the delta.
I have had really good experience with the Real Yak modular kayak as well

If you can afford it and have the space to store it definitely get the bigger sizes kayak. This one is just fun for smaller waters and mild weather!

I like your kayak. I just bought the Reel Yaks modular version. I'm a geezer, so a full sized one is just too difficult for me to load and unload. The modular version is ideal for me. Each half is a bit over 30 lbs. I had a problem with loose rudder cables, but a quick email to Reel Yaks tech support and they send me some new parts. It was easy to fix. Nice video by the way.

I am thinking of getting a reel yak 9.5 but with a pedal drive propeller type. Do you feel the kayak is stable? Is it hard to learn to fish from a kayak?
Stability is somewhat stable but I wouldn’t stand in it and fish. The kayak itself is durable and it handles against the wind well. Fishing from a kayak is completely different than fishing from the bank or on a boat. Shorter rods are better and learning how to maneuver the kayak to get better casting angles is crucial to getting bites. It takes time and practice but once you get the hang of it, kayak fishing is extremely fun!

I have this yak after watching your first video . Been out twice. Legs get a but tired and maneuvering the yak in just small bits its a little challenging considering it takes quite a few peddles to turn and wide turns Found myself using half a paddle to keep me straight. Hopefully, practice with my anchor will help. Minn kota hook up by monday. Thinkin ill upload a video. Nice fishin man!

@@alhenry92 it’s not much like a native watercraft or old town but hey it gets the job done! One advice I can give you is do not go out kayaking with this kayak if the wind is 15 MPH and up with 20 plus mph gust. It does not handle heavy wind to well.

I’m pretty sure Texas has some monster sizes as well! Usually in lakes or reservoirs they spawn a bit deeper and live on bottom structure such as rock piles, brush piles, etc
They are big what state are you in ???
I’m in California River redears don’t get as big as their lake relatives so catching 1 pound plus is consider a trophy size here on the delta

Central delta but they’re everywhere. Look for hard bottom and you’ll find colonies of sunfish. After they’re done spawning, look for them in deeper water with weed clumps or weed lines.

Im using a phenix feather medium action casting rod but I swapped out from braid to mono and it made a difference for me in hookup percentage.

I don’t hate it but I guess it comes with a bit of common sense. Light line into a weed bed is never a good idea haha.. I’m just glad my line didn’t get cut in the process.
