1921 House Renovation: Kitchen Demo -part 4
มุมมอง 188ปีที่แล้ว
Inspite of the heat of the South Carolina summer, I dig down to the bones of our kitchen in our 1921 caftsman style house. In order to make everything striaght and level alot of framing needs to be redone, so let's pull out the old before bringing in the new. As near as I can tell, the kitchen was put in an area that was once a porch, so alot of the framing was poorly done. Not only am I bringi...

I built my teardrop galley to fit this mini fridge. To accommodate the actual dimensions I had to change how the handles attach. This model is now discontinued and one of the changes was the handles.
Filon problems revealed. Temporary fix for leaking door
มุมมอง 1.1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Getting ready for a road trip to North Dakota. I've come up with an idea to keep water out of the teardrop camper. Though probably temporary, good enough to get on the road! I will reveal how bad the filon is on the hatch too!

THANKS!!! I HAVE BEEN CUTTING THE PIECES AS I GO AROUND THE CORNER. REAL HARD!! AND NOT ALL THAT GOOD LOOKING.
Nice Filon surface work!
Hard work, is never easy!
The front door is really nice . Thank you for the visit . ❤️ Mom
Steve glad to see all the progress you are making on the house, like the collar of the shingles.
Nice work Steve!
Thanks for sharing!
Love seeing the prairie areas of North America. This reminds me of videos and photos I've seen of Saskatchewan. Nice countryside. Cheers!
Please don't put your new fresh air intake vent right next to the propane tank! If it leaks......
Any chance the passenger door is on the driver side and vice versa as I've never seen a window vent from the bottom up - usually the top portion slides and the bottom is fixed.
Hello, Steve, I'm new to your channel. Well, I finally found a video with someone adding Filon siding to there camper!! I'm tired of seeing people painting or putting on poor mans fiberglass 🙄. Lol... Where can someone get the filon material? So, I'm not understanding something... I noticed the contact cement you put on was black. But when you get it adhered onto your half inch ply it looked clear? Is this a different contact cement? Also, did you glue an additional piece of plywood to the filon because you didn't want to put it to the half Inch plywood that you screwed the frame too? Sorry i'm just trying to understand why two pieces of plywood being used. In the near future I'm going to build me a truck camper, & want to add this filon material. Looks more professional & cleaner. Thanks Steve! Hope to hear back. Love your build!
Hello, I'm new to the channel. Love the way your trailer is turning out! True craftsman... Question,,, would you have the link to where you bought your black edge trim & what length/width it is? I have another question to your Filon siding, but I will ask this on the video of u putting it on. Thanks!
Hello, I'm new to your channel. Good job! I have seen some of your other videos. You being precise, picky, & a good eye for detail makes you a good craftsman. I started watching you're videos because I wanted to know more about the filon siding & kept watching. I'm going to go back to one of your videos where you're putting on the filon to the side walls. I'll have questions & hope you answer. Thanks for sharing your videos. 😎
I'll get back to you and try to answer all your questions. I'm traveling right now. Thanks for watching!
@RinconSteve No problem, thanks Steve. Safe travels.
Cool sheers! If I may, do you have a link to where you found the air sheers?
Probably the worst all time camera work for a ‘How to Video’ in the history of TH-cam.
love the mellow attitude. good job. yes done this before but nicely explained.
Thank you we are just getting ready to do this what a big help this is. 👏👏
Handsome man
Shellac would have worked
If only those walls could talk, the stories they might tell...
Yikes! So glad your safe and your house is ok🙏
Greetings from Tucson. Happy to hear all are well. Winslow came through good too.
Hey buddy. Glad you are alright.
Glad to see that you’re home came out ok with only minor damage. Need to get rid of the trees mom will take them and the leaves for the goats. LOL 😊
Love It!
Thank you so much for the great video . He’s a smart little fella . ❤ Mom
I'm lucky that my Ranger floor and cage installation has hatches where the seats were. Hell no would I be hacking up my Ram C/V load floor.
My teardrops kitchen door is stuck. The lock inside broke away from the handle. Any ideas how I can fix it myself?
i dont get it ? how come you need a unheated converter when your running vaper anyway ? how are you triggering the filter lock
Rincon, do you have a diagram of your electrical? Yours is one of the better ones that ive seen.
What about the long pieces is that 22.5
@@guero8820 yes, you can even do 23 degrees. The corner may not actually be 90 degrees, if it's less than this that helps, and still works if it's more.
7:10 - should have at least a dust mask.
Good video
What’s the name of glue products please
The filon is glued on with a product by 3M called: 1357
good video
Your hatch spar (the spar that you will attach the hatch hinge to) is how far from the bottom of your galley? 48" since it's the width of the luan?
You should have put it on the floor to roll out the bubbles, you need a very stable surface and your table looks undersized
It would be nice to know what county and Township this is in
So the outer walls are just glued to the inner walls, no fasteners? I need to replace the outer walls on my motorhome, and I'm very apprehensive about taking on such a huge project. Any input would be great.
I have the same van. It came with plywood over the top. And it was split like 2.5 foot and 1.5 foot. I bought bi mart plastic shelving. I think it said it was rated at 200lb per shelf. I put plywood on top of the 2.5 foot section and made a nice bench. I don't drive it much anymore as gas prices make me drive a small car. But, I always wondered about what was under the metal. Thank you. If i had your measurements, I would be cutting the aluminum today. I had a flat once and it was a pain to lower the tire, so I keep it in the back, wonder if I could fit it in one of these seat compartments? I carry a racing jack and like to change a tire fast, as you know lookie loos like to crash into you. I hate the lowering tire thing they have, especially if I were on a busy hwy. Thanks for the video. My van has been a bit of $$ for repairs, but overall, it gets great mpg for a van that acts like a truck. I even got 29 mpg with some tablets in the tank a friend gave me. I think i want to get a small trailer to see how she does with the loaded back suspension and radiator on the tranny. Great little camper van. I only wish I wasn't so tall so I could slouch in the back instead of just lying down.
PS I had to cut the shelving plastic poles to make it so the bed wasn't so tall. I store stuff under the shelf. If you ever thought of using it for camping or shelf storage.
When my high school was being rebuilt, someone did the very same thing. It caused half of the new auditorium burn down
Looks great! What kind of wood did you use for the bulk of the galley? Like the cabinets, countertop, bulkhead etc. Did you put any sort of protective coating on the wood?
That's a really good idea
Can you send me those measurements
go to OregonBatman youtube channel. I got my plans from him. He will sell you a full set of plans
Where do you get these particular regulators from? I'm going to switch my lawn equipment over one at a time and want to do it right the first time rather than destroy an engine. Or my shop 😄
The regulators shown are cobras made by Century Fuels. I have since changed them to Impco Cobra-P which is exactly the same but has a primer button which makes it easier to start. They weren’t available originally. These are commonly used on things like forklifts but they actually work really well on small engines. I generally get them from Century Fuels or Carb and Turbo but there are probably other places as well
Can you glue filing to foam?
No. The adhesive needed is a high solvent and it would melt the foam.
No. The adhesive needed has high solvents in it and it would melt the foam.
Great to have you back on the air. Good thing the safety man wasn't there to see you installing header by yourself. But sometimes we have to make do!! Keep it coming.
doing what I gotta do! Thanks Bob
Looks great 😊
Thank you! 😊
How did you go with your doors, did the manufacturer fix the problem?
I put a huge trash bag well ahead and behind the door. I tuck it all the way under the mattress. Over that, I tuck a huge beach towel. I've never had the water leave the towel but it has leaked every time I've driven in the rain.
