My little space on the TH-cam part of the internet, nothing fancy, just me uploading stuff I find interesting, and what makes me happy, and that latter point is important!
Mainly garden railway material. ( the GCLR) made into little stories to help make people smile, and actually helps me work out how video material is made, I learn how to edit material, all interesting to me, BUT non of it is serious, its light hearted and meant for fun.

GCLR Episode 13 Engineering Work & Fika. #gardenrailway #GCLR
Welcome to Episode 13 of the GCLR. A little different take of things this time, where we see the track being improved. We meet a new character, Harold Elliot, the Chief Inspector, we even get a feline incursion!
Having a railway outside in the garden, brings its own challenges as we have seen previously, with vegetation, and the pigeons! but also the ground naturally moves with weather. I have one section thats been niggling for a while now, and it was time to give that section some TLC. The pigeons I have learnt like to sit on the track with the ballast (gravel) and have a rest and so disturbing the ballast!
We experience Swedish Fika, with some good coffee and swedish vanilla biscuits, with Harold Jonesy, Alf and myself, it was really nice, and something we will do again.
Swedish Fika
It's deeply ingrained in Swedish culture. Most Swedes have fika several times a day, whether it is at the weekend or during the business week. The history of fika is associated with the spread of "kaffe och kaka". This is how the expression "coffee and cookies" sounds in Swedish.
I do hope you like the unfolding story of the GCLR

In this episode we show some of the recycled items that are used, which may surprise you, and we show where they have been used. A special train is touring the UK, and in this episode it comes to visit the GCLR, its a ...

I can hardly believe we are already at Episode 10 of the GCLR. I make these for a bit of fun, but I am really interested how films are made with graphics, but I am not a film maker, its pure interest and seeing how I can improve and I can see a difference over the 10 films, including my spelling and grammar, just being honest thats all! In this episode we start to see all that has to happen bef...

Welcome to another video on my channel which is being created to show the slow but steady progress with my interest in garden railways. This episode is being filmed in early May 2024 and at long last we have some sunshine! As always there is a little story from my mad brain, as always its only a bit of fun, but over time you see the slow ( sometimes very slow) progress of the railway. Like the ...

มุมมอง 7302 หลายเดือนก่อน
The GCLR is preparing for the summer season, if the rain ever stops that is, and after 'Bernie the brush' had finished painting the station, the engineers train needed to be moved as the line engineer needed to do some testing with 'Allan' on new track and some clearances at the station. Everyone was confident it would be ok, but the testing needed to happen so there was no near misses on the G...
GCLR Episode 5
มุมมอง 3662 หลายเดือนก่อน
The GCLR welcomes 2024, and work has begun to get the railway ready for trains to begin running. Before any trains can run some essential maintenance was needed and checking of the track is required. This winter we have seen a lot of rain and whilst we have not had any landslips like on the big railway, there were still sections that needed some ballast work. After a visual check it was time to...

Looks great. Those circular spirit levels are really useful. I worked in Göteborg/Gothenburg for some years - I miss Fika!!
Thanks Nigel, Those levels are made for the job I reckon, perfect for garden railways. my track is far from perfect, but its helped work out the rough spots I can see how you miss Fika, Its been a good many years since I last went to Göteburg, I was in Denmark a few weeks ago, and my train from Kobehavn was direct to Götenburg, but I was only popping over the bridge to Malmö
My goodness, everyone has been so busy, track looks great, must all be very tired with this heat ,but lovely weather 😊
Thank You, that is a appreciated, they have worked hard, the railway runs better over that section now, and the General Manager treated them all to an Ice Cream, White Magnums of course.
I really like that leveling rig... Need to set up something like that for my own railway!
Thanks, I used a Bullseye Bubble spirit level from that ever so famous online retailer, and attached to a flat wagon, it helps just see how track is aligned. Mine is far from perfect, but helped me iron out known trouble spots.
Lovely turnout,Glad to see uncle Fester looking so handsome ,nice to see how the new signal box operates too ,that fire will be ideal on a winters day need a packet of crumpets in his snap box to toast when the fire has got a healthy glow 😊
Thank You very much, once we get the autumn here, we will show the glow from the fire, and get some crumpets too! For now we are enjoying the warmer weather and sunshine.
Looks like North Pilton kit inside the box!
Morning, Yes it is, I meant to put that in the description, the entire thing ( except Alf Newman aka No1) is North Pilton, a nice kit to build
Nice video, Like ...
Thank You very much.
Very interesting, love the old livery colours cream and brown and the blue steam train too .
Thank You very much, its a lovely railway, right at the top of the Welsh valleys, right on top of the hill. The Officers coach was just wonderful, but the whole railway was superb.
nice video
Thanks very much, I appreciate you saying that.
@@mrowl-the-dsm1304 oohhhh nice words dear thanx
Excellent
Thanks very much, I really appreciate that, means a lot, a lucky catch.
Looking very green and the purple flower s a type of violet I think lovely to see a special train ,but sadly only spotted Uncle Fester, see the love birds romance is progressing, but feel Nervous Nancy shouldn’t hang around the boys so much needs some girlfriends too ,don’t want to get a reputation?😇😇😇…….. great video 😊😊
The special train is rare to see now, so good it came for a visit. Nervous Nancy, I hope she does not get a reputation, perhaps its just friends with Jonesy, after his help last week. She does need new company, we will have to see what happens over the summer..........
Your railway is s lot of fun to watch.
Thank You ever so much, thats very kind of you. I aim to bring a smile to peoples faces, and give a some fun, your kind comment is appreciated
Thank goodness Bernard the brew defused Nancys tantrum! She is a bit temperamental but nice lady ,a mermaid she isn’t 😂😂 just fed up with the wet weather again ! …… the line is looking very pristine after the teams work ,well done to all .
Nancy is a bit techy!! Good job Old Jonesy came to help, nice chap he is. After all that rain, the team have a big job on to cut back again.
Looks like a very busy day . 😊
Thank You, yes it was, they don't mess around,
Oh my goodness love is in the air ❤
Perhaps there is.......
Looking good.
Thanks very much, I appreciate that. a bit crazy at times, but we all need something to make us smile.
Never thought as what I call modern trains “ retiring “ where😊😊 do they go ? Train grave yard or sold on ? This design is modern to my way of thinking. When train had separate carriages that my first memory of trains in the 1960s did these types of trains pull them back in the day or was it only steam ??
Interesting comment, these trains transformed UK train travel, in that it was faster than anything else in use at that time, and made train operations easier. Many have gone to be cut up and made into razor blades, BUT a number have been exported to Mexico, and Nigeria, and now transforming their railways.
@@mrowl-the-dsm1304 razor blades ! Lots of them made from one train ! I did think they did get sold to other countries to help with their transport too.
Great news nervous Nancy will be please 😊
This is brilliant!!
Thats really very kind of you, Its a bit mad I know, its a bit of fun to help us through the mad world we live. However the railway, brings us a rewarding interest to have and operate,
So glad all went well with the inspection! All looks good despite the overgrowth problem .Bird song is wonderful too, lovely to see the greenery after the winter months Rolling stock looks in fine fettle .Do hope nervous Nancy doesn’t have to wait too long before her train arrives , sadly no tea room near Allan’s Halt but lovely views on a bright May morning…..
Thanks very much indeed, the bird song is a added bonus. As for poor Nancy, good things will happen soon I hope, she sits quietly, enjoys the view of the passing trains and people, refreshment room, mmmm possibly in the future :-)
Fantastic layout and a lovely story with the characters
@oldskool7313 Thats very kind of you to say that, the story and characters, all came into my head,
Wow,Station looks fantastic! Hope the weather improves and the railway will be in full swing 😊😊😊
Thank You very much, glad you liked, more trains, more people soon, all being well
Lovely smart loco and nice station building
Thanks very much, I appreciate that.
Bert and Len are my heroes ❤ great day for weather 🌞
They are hard working, but often sneak off to enjoy a cup of tea 🙂
Great job by Bert and Len hope they had a couple of pints afterwards
They certainly did, the loco was shut down and they were soon supping a beer or two :-) 😄
very nice little railway you have there
Thanks very much, thats kind of you, once the warmer weather comes, I can some work completed which will feature on more little videos all being well
Do hope Bert and Len are both well after a busy day clearing the line !
They are, they got a bonus, and went down the pub!
As always excellent
Thank You very much, that means a lot
is the bridge where the anker meets the thame called the lady bridge
Thats right, the two rivers meet the town side just at the bridge, and where that Otter ladder is is the Tame going down a flood channel and join up again at another weir close to where Alders paper mill was
i see the bunkers or are they drug dens or tolets now a days
The bunkers suffer a bit of graffiti inside, kinds/youths hang around them in the summer, difficult one really to sense them off would be wrong, but its wrong how they get attacked.
nice vid mr owl
@fishypie Thanks very much, I appreciate that.
i always smile when i see ww2 bunkers. i remember fishing the tame as kid and finding bits of bog roll on my line but there was more in there river than there is now. seems odd
There is a couple of those WW2 lookout bunkers along that stretch of the Tame. A lot more people fish the river now than a few years back, the pols at Kingsbury have helped. You can just see the Otter ramp they built at the Weir, although not spotted an otter yet!
@@mrowl-the-dsm1304I saw an otter a couple of years ago, a bit further up where alders used to be. Popped his head up, saw me and went back under.
where can i buy it?
Buy what?
👍
Thanks
Incredible railway and lovely shots
Thank You very much, work in progress, a model railway never gets finished,
Did you hear the 2 tone from the midland pullman at night
Yea it was nice, I suspect he was a bit frustrated following the LNWR service a couple of signals ahead
Absolutely brilliant
Thank You, @oldskool7313, thats is very much appreciated.
So many cute engines! 🙂 Although I didn't see a "Hoyt Clagwell" amongst the tractors.
@garryferrington811, afraid a no show this year
Nice capture, I caught the HST at Micheldever and also at Overton
Thanks very much for kind words. I got totally soaked, but well worth it and a special moment. Nice it ventured to southern metals again after such a long time,
Moments in history and thank you mr owl
Thank You @oldskool7313, appreciated. This project is about capturing the present, which will soon be the past, for the future.
This railway is excellent and the footage is brilliant Top job
