Give Vince at TransformRV a call mate, they’ll look after your for xps.
Who do you get your blades from?
From Amazon I have checked and unfortunately the seller doesn’t have any at the moment it was a custom length..
If you compare polystyrene to aircell, aircell has a much higher thermal rating compared to polystyrene foam. Polystyrene also is not waterproof, but it can absorb small amounts of water over time which could affect the cabinetry or flooring (if you had a water leak)
Thank you. Air cell would be a better option or xps?
@EngineeredToDesign xps is Exruded Polystyrene insulation. From my point of view air cell would be better, and air cell being thinner means you don't have to cut channels in it to make clearance for wiring. Reducing the thickness of any part of the xps would reduce the thermal rating in those areas
Could do the more expensive(more thermal resistant) option on the roof then the cheaper option on the walls. Could be an option that way you've got more protection from above.
Definitely a good idea 👌🏻
Kingspan insulation is perfect for this kind of application, I use it on all sorts of commercial buildings but it's also used for boats etc
@ where can I get it?
@EngineeredToDesign Kingspan is Australian made, I'm in NZ and a lot of our kingspan product is shipped from yous guys, give it a Google search and see what you can come up with.
@@EngineeredToDesignKingspan is Australian made, we import a majority of our product from you guys here in NZ. I'd Google and see if you can source locally
Again great work and to anyone taking the mickey out of ya efforts dont sweat em brother you accomplished what you set out to do and it looks great
Legend 👌🏻👌🏻
Brother this is amazing work..i dont know how i stumbled across your channel but glad i clicked great work
Can't wait to see interior builds subscribed
That’s awesome thanks!
how difficult was the process for the new vin number. Ie. understanding the stds and compliing and providing evedice?
Wasn’t to difficult it was mainly listing wheels, ratings, lighting and reflector adr’s. They were super helpful on the phone.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That things awesome
Well done young fella, great job, good work ethic. Congrats.
Thank you! 👌🏻
I've got the same saw what metal blade did you get I'd like to convert mine
I got a bimetal blade from Amazon it was in the US. 13mm wide 14tpi 2160 long from memory. Could probably be slightly longer. Does your saw have rubber on the wheels?
It's telling me good profits when they sell a campervan. Congratulations
Lots of hours to build one to 👌🏻
What a great video to stumble across!
That’s awesome 👌🏻
Huh, you stripped to chasey then changed chasey, so you built a caravan from scratch, you just removed a caravan and disposed of it. For the property owner.whats the weight now, steel is heavy
It weighs 1080kg
Was there anything original at all left? lol
Yes the entire chassis under the floor
I like it so far , nice work
Cool, pretty nice build
👌🏻👌🏻
I had to laugh at the comment at the end "I can't believe it's the same van" - it's not - you've pretty much rebuilt it from the ground up 😅
You inspire me to get off my arse and fix my own camper!
Heck yeah! 👌🏻
Hey mate what wall thickness was is the chassis frame and the caravan frame?
Draw bar is 4mm (over kill) main chassis is 3mm and the wall framing material is 30x30 2mm
😂😂😂😂😂😂 , so basically you built a caravan from new , all you saved was the floor frame $100 worth of second hand steel 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It certainly helped the build 👌🏻
bro im 2:30 mins in and im fkn blown away already. the things you can see on the webs!!!
Thanks legend!
Hi mate could you show a video in more detail of how you got the composite panel to bend, and was this a stock colour of was it the back of the gloss white boards?
If you have Instagram send me a DM and I can send you a video of what I did if you like? (Engineered2design)
Solid effort mate, well done!
unbelievable you reply to every comment. Well done. I learnt a lot!
Thanks that’s great to hear 👌🏻😊
When will we see this build finished and see what it can do
Will be driving this year for sure hopefully next few weeks.. 👀
Awesome job man! Stripping it down to its frame is my type of rebuild for sure. I doubt it’s gonna be under 7K to build the entire thing but it’s freakin amazing nonetheless 😎👍✨
That’s awesome thanks! 👌🏻
Can't rego with out the inside done because by the time you fit it out it will exceed your gvm good luck I do registration and build vans every day for a living alloy frame and build inside 1st so you can secure all fittings to frame also alloy frame is the go and will have to re rego if you install gas stick to what you know
If you want really light weight furniture you could build it out of foam board. It can be covered with plywood or paint and fabric to give it a hard surface. There are some vids on TH-cam showing how to make furniture from foam board.
Great idea thanks!
Im doing something similar, i bought an old 6.5m x 2.45m food trailer and going to convert it into an enclosed car trailer. Already has dual axle with 4 wheel electric brakes, all the wiring for lighting etc, which i will replace. Paid $400 for it, so already well infront for what i want to do!
Wow that’s a bargain!!
@@EngineeredToDesign yeah couldn't say no to it, i want to extend the front 2m & rear 1m making it 9m of enclosure, enough room to have workbench/kitchenette & some beds 😊
The wheels look comicaly small.
They are getting replaced very soon 👌🏻
Hey mate where did you get that filler from
Bcf store 👌🏻
Not knocking you at all, but is this considered the same van legally? Great work and am looking forward to seeing this one finished.
Thanks man, I believe so as it was accepted in the vin application and by the roads authority..
Looks awesome matey 👍 done well.. Thanks for sharing
👌🏻👌🏻
Congrats on your new born daughter. 👍 I wish you all a great new year. BTW, with your tape peeling the paint/powder-coat off, in situations like that I've always stuck the tape to my clothing then peel it off and apply to your project. I hope that helps with future projects.
Thank you! Same to you and your family 😊 That is a fantastic tip! I wish I had done that it would have saved me a heap of work haha
Well done mate
👌🏻👌🏻
How can you register the van with no interior, all the weights will change
I was told it was fine when I took it in.
Your weight is going to change after you fit it out.
I will be watching my weight very closely with the fitout 👌🏻
Looks good but I think it is going to be too heavy.
1100
Ill give you 10k for it mate?
I can’t sell it 😁
Damn mate that must have been a hard pill to swallow after pulling the cladding off and realising the whole thing wasn't worth restoring and needed to pretty much build an entire new van. Amazing build though youve made it seem much more simple to diy than it seems when you look at a van and imagine how complex the framing and wiring must be but the reality is theyre pretty simple. Thanks for sharing
Thanks man yeah it was a gut wrenching moment haha but all worth it. 👌🏻
Well Done 😂🎉 Does it Float 😮😂
😂😂
That's not a camper. It's more of a box trailer with lights than a camper.
Great stuff buddy, looking forward to the vids in the new year
👌🏻👌🏻
35 l per 100? Holy crap I knew they were thirsty but not that bad. Our 1hd-t powered coaster with trailer weigh a touch over six ton and the worst we get is 21-22l per 100.
Yeah I can’t get over 250kms to a tank.. we don’t dare touch the Ac button either haha.. good car but way too thirsty. Wow that’s good as!
It's shaped like an Ember Travel trailer here in the US.
That’s cool! I’ll have to search one up 👌🏻
