With the piles removeable you could make several piles of different sizes and change them occasionally to make the layout more alive.

hey there, bill !!! hope all is well... isn't "experimental engineering" one of the coolest areas of our hobby ??? you gave her one hell of a try, that's for sure !!! just wondering, to continue with your "experiment"... could you possibly turn the load upside down, with the plastic wrap facing upward, and add your alcohol/white glue through holes in the plastic ? i am pretty sure it would solve your problem as that inner part of the load, although "loose" inside, is still very anhydrous ( dry) and would absorb your alcohol/diluted white glue application as nicely as it did on the topside of your load ! btw.... the payloader looks absolutely fantastic !!! also, as we previously discussed, i am having friends over for your korean wings, with other "flavors", and plenty of beer as the bills have their opener today against the cardinals !! about a dozen fans will be here, mostly guys i played ball with, and i figure about 120-150 wings deep fried in heavy lard via my turkey deep fryer !!! OUCH !!! as i am 20 minutes from highmark stadium, i am sure i will be babysitting most of them later tonight !!! blessings to you, billy !!! denny

Hi Denny! I'm afraid those gravel piles would disintegrate if I tried to turn them upside down. Sometimes you just gotta let well enough alone 😁. Man I wish I could be there for those wings, sounds like a great time! Not sure how those wings will stand up to deep frying, cause they're kinda wet. Maybe fry a small batch first, and if it doesn't work out, do the rest in the oven. Oh I forgot to tell you, I used honey instead of corn syrup, but should be fine either way. Apparently the Koreans are big fans of corn syrup. I made Korean Peanut Butter Noodles the other night - fantastic! aaronandclaire.com/peanut-butter-noodles/ Can you send me some video of the wings frying and stuff? I am on Whassup and Facebook. Let me know how the wings come out - Bill.

@@MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout bill... man, is my house a mess !!! some friends !!! at least a couple stayed overnight and helped clean up. here's how i cook wings... 375 degrees of lard, then deep fry just until they float ( this means the grease has left the wing.. same for fish, taters, etc), then i absolutely covered the hot wings with sauce ( btw, korean was great and enjoyed by most everyone.. some folks here in chicken wing country just stick to hot sauce w/ butter the old fashioned style... boneheads !!!) anyway, after the wings have been covered enough, i throw them on my bbq grill ( wood/charcoal...no propane for me !!!) and give them a light "char". this makes for a tough clean-up job of the grill grates so i just throw them in my fire pit and burn the stuff off, which is pretty well stuck on . i think i fudged your recipe a bit but all ended well !!! too much soy sauce i think... btw, you got me thinking about difco cars... i have 3 in ns orange that i am gonna paint over... where did you get your nokl decals ? mine will be flat gray like yours. denny

@@dennisarmes3473 Oh , you sauce them AFTER the deep fry. Of course! I was thinking the other way around, like man this ain't gonna work 🤪. Glad they came out good. I've been grilling and smoking all my life and have never owned a gas grill. Never will. Those decals are from Smokebox Graphics - DF5187 Road Sign Font Patch Jobs. Take care - GO BILLS 🏈

Last time I chased a Finger Lakes train it had a bunch of those dump cars. What if you put pieces of styrene strips or wood strips down first then pour the gravel on. That might make the load more stable when being removed.

Yes, I'll do something like that if I decide to rework them. For now, I'm leaving well enough alone 😊

Should use waxed paper not plastic wrap.
