I watched Echo in the Canyon several times, and will probably see it again. The Canyon sound track pulls my young spirit from the depths of my memory bank and makes it soar. It is true, the heart always remains young. Love Jadeś voice! Peace and love to all.

Great version absolutely... but the magic of the original was the haunting keyboard solos of Larry Knechtel.... they lifted this song to some place otherworldly.

This ain’t half as good as the original.

In the documentary, Andrew Slater says the music was from a time ranging from 1965-1967, or thereabouts. Towards the end of the movie, Jakob Dylan is sitting on a couch with Regina, Beck & Cat, discussing how the early California music era came to the end because it was transitioning from a group-based vibe to one focusing on the individual artist (i.e., Neil Young leaving the Buffalo Springfield), and they used "Expecting To Fly" as the background tune. Even Stephen Stills suggested that Neil's song was his way of saying goodbye to the band. Regardless of why Neil wrote the song, it was an exceptional song to end with, especially when they showed Neil jamming by himself to a tune as the credits rolled.

Norah Jones was awesome doing this studio version. But for the life of me, I don't know why Jakob had Cat Power sing it live on stage with his band (in the documentary). Cat was God awful.

This song has always haunted me , when I was a kid it would come on the radio we be in Mom’s. Corvair and I would start crying something about it made me cry and now as an older gentle man who been in music bizz long time it’s time for me to record a version of it - just booked studio in Austin Tx so I’ll go full circle on this !!!

Just found this documentary on Showtime, and loved every minute of it. So many of the songs took me back to a simpler time.

I am a massive Stephen Stills fan and I really respect what Jakob Dylan has done with rediscovering the music that came out of Laurel Canyon in the late 60s; but it is Eric Clapton's breathtaking solo that really elevates this song into another stratosphere. Why isn't Clapton given proper credit here?

This keeps coming on Showtime and I keep watching it, probably 4 times now it’s just so good. I swear was born a couple decades too late! (1971) Anyway I think this is my favorite track and it’s because of Jade’s voice - just amazing!
