Garden follow up after 3 months
I think having quality soil makes a big difference from the start. Plants from seed started growing fine, but quickly stopped once I re-potted into 4" containers. I was just using a top soil/peat mix. Slowly moving them into 6" or 8" with some Jobe brand fertilizer and a better mix (with perlite and compost). Fluffy soil made a big difference with the tomatoes and peppers. This was a fun project and I'm just starting to see decent results. Having fresh basil is awesome for home-made pizza. Check out the end of the video to see the lizard on the lemon bush. They do a great job eating garden pests (anole).

Growing herbs and veggies this year. What could go wrong? #homesteading

Decided to grow some herbs and veggies, but I can't have a traditional garden. I'll update with more videos as the season progresses, hopefully more successes than failures. I have a few goals. First is to have ingredients for home-made salsa (hence the tomatoes, onion, jalapenos and cilantro), and except for the avocado and lime, a couple ingredients for guacamole (red onion and tomatoes). If you don't bend the dust shield early on, it might turn into a series of severe thunking noises, make you wonder if you have a flat (or that something serious is caught in the wheel), and then fall off. Just ask my dust shield. Location unknown.

    Thanks... You'll crack on me but I really wanted it. I bought a CLA 250 recently w/the AMG package, well... drove it about 1000miles after 3 months and a few days ago I heard this sound from the driver side... I parked and inspected visually w/hands and determined it was the brake dust shield as I could move it around, as well as scraping. Worst part is, it is part of the wheel hub assembly, I don't even know if this is covered under warranty but it does state it covers any lubricated parts and if they take it apart the bearing has to be removed and lubricated and if not looks like I got to do it myself, fug. Ahhhhh the choices we make. Thanks for the video.

    • @Pathos312
      @Pathos312 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As an update, wasn't too bad. Chucked the back wheels and jacked her up using the pad beneath. Took the wheel off, the caliper which was zip tied off dangling and the rotor (which has a security key!) and was able to break the dust shield off easily - I think the recent salt we got finished it off. It's a very thin piece of steel so it doesn't take long for it to wear down tbh, imo less than 10 years and they're cooked for certain in a mildly cold climate. Regardless, it was all assembled back in reverse without issue. The caveat is that when I replace the caliper/pads/rotor I'll also do the wheel bearing and put a new shield on too (in a month or so). Took like 30 minutes tops.

    Im assuming that is a pick and pull type salvage yard. I worked at one that the empoyees pulled all the parts. It was somewhat organized. It wasnt flat nor on gravel. Grass and hills was what we worked with. On any given day they have 5 to 7 thousand cars. One thing I never got used to seeing was the cars that came in that had carseats covered in🩸. Even being in the front seat with🩸did not affect me like the carseats did. I loved the job, loved the atmosphere but the owners thats a different story.

      @jenniferrogers2624 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@hairbear72 well if they make back plus some right away they hauled it to the scrap yard. If not the car was put up in the yard taking secrets with them. He did have a crusher come in for about a year, he didnt own one himself. There was so much he said she said with the company and he told them to come and get it. Ive seen cars like that also. Cars you couldnt imagine there be no evidence left behind. The guys usually elected me to he the one in the car to start them. Ive crawled in and out of so many that was horrific on the inside. They say after so long you get used to seeing things over and over. Yet I have so many mental pictures stored away and I never got used to it. The carseats is what got me the worst. I do miss working at the yard though. The basis of our days was the same but we never knew what the day would bring. They(I said we at first) was registered with car-parts.com. We shipped parts out and ordered in all across the lower 48. I think that was one of my favorite parts of my job. I got the pleasure of talking with so many people in places I will never see. In your video I liked the way they had their cars sectioned by make. Also nicely lined up, easy to get to, cars lifted off the ground for access to the undercarriage and they are on gravel. Shoot I walked through brush, weeds way taller than me, sticker bushes, chiggers if it grew wild I was in it lol. Cars would get swallowed up by vegetation. My grandpa had his own repair shop, wrecker service and small junkyard. All of his kids lived on property connected to his so I was always either in the garage or having a blast in the cars. Between his shop and my dad being a mechanic is how I got my start in the auto field. He had one rule when it came to towing cars that would wined up being his. If someone lost their life in the accident he would tow the car but it went somewhere besides his place. He only broke that rule once when his nephew was killed in a crash. He did put that car up on the hill. My uncle(his son) was about 8-10 years older than me, I cant remember exactly. He was the uncle that tortured his nieces/nephews. My sister and I was at papas house alot and it was normally dark when we walked home and we had to pass the junkyard to get home. Well my asshole Uncle would tell us stories of dead bodies up in the cars, ghosts that lingered all through the junkyard. Ya he was that uncle lol. We was just kids so when we walked home well pretty much ran we always thought we would never make it home. The dick would even go up and hide in cars, jump out to scare the shit out of us😶‍🌫️😯😧🥺😵‍💫🤯☠️☠️. To this day I scare so easily cuz of his ass. I did enjoy your video and please dont think you was being to heavy or harsh. You did a great job describing and showing info on how this yard worked. I enjoy almost all content that has to do with the automotive world. I do all of my own repairs on 3 vehicles and so enjoy being under the hood. This past spring I did a motor swap on my 05 malibu with a 3.5. Of course we all know that the 3.5 is a 3.4 with a few minor changes. One of the cars I work in is a 03 Montana 3.4. I kept my core engine when I replaced the engine for spare parts. The tensioner went out on the montana. So I grabbed the one of my Malibu fit perfect. Then the alternator went bad on the Montana. Again I used the one off my core. Only difference was where the plug was. The wiring harness had enough give it worked great. Now the job of replacing the alternator wasnt too much fun. Being a mini van and the alt being in the back it took longer to take off so much shit, taking the front motor mounts off so I could throw the motor forward so there was enough room to get it out. Sorry for talking your ear off. As you can tell I have oil running thru my veins and cars are a topic I enjoy. Look forward to the next video.

      @@hairbear72 yeah thnx. I just sorted this out a few days ago. On my whirlpool it was quite tedious to get that back panel off. For those wondering, had to remove around 6 screws, take out the bulb/housing as it was in the way of panel removal. Also the trays and tray shelf supports had to be removed. I could then get the panel off. Steamer would have been nice here but didn't have one and a turkey baster with hot water would have taken longer. The ice over the drain was a block maybe an inch thick. The solution for me was boiling water and taking time to pour it slowly on the ice with a cup measurer. After about 5 mins I could see the drain unclogging thr ice with the hot water and finally heard it dripping. I confirmed the drain was clear by looking from back of fridge and the water was draining into try pan. Put everything back together and voila, working. FYI, if taking this on, it's a nice time to deep clean the dust underneath, behind and behind the removable front grate etc. I also took the time with some clorox Wipes and cleaned up the freezer where things had spilled over time and you never notice. The bulb in the fridge had some sort of frozen sauce on there alone. Fridge now sounds better and dry after a few days (knock on wood). I know this was a bit long but maybe it may help someone else. This was on an older whirlpool side by side fridge (non gold series, but they should be similar). Frigidaire and kitchen aid models like this one should be almost identical I gather.
