Long Live Hip Hop!!!!! Thanks for taking us along for the ride!!
no doubt brother.
I was there man!!! And let me tell you.. anyone that watches this will have an appreciation for it but!.. There is nothing like being there and feeling the energy of the people and the music in the park.. Watching this takes me back there and Dammit that’s fine with me.. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
fascinating to see this. part of me believes you can project yourself back to the bronx anytime you feel it or whenever "dr. buzzard's original savannah band" and a turntable get together. i'm the darryl who can't do that but this is wonderful to watch and hear. thanks.
Peace man... great post and book link. The 90s was my era for hip-hop coming up, and mixtapes are an essential but often forgotten component of the genre. Today, they're a lost art. All of the tapes in my library are on CD (digitally sourced from the cassettes) but still have the gritty sound and capture the essence. Mixtape style DJs were my vibe so I have a lot of Clue, Tony Touch and Do Wop. I'm also a big fan of DJ Drama who kept it alive in modern times. Respect and stay solid.
No doubt man. I remember back in the 90's when Dj Drama was huge down in Atlanta. In fact, i'm going to do a video of all the tapes I bought in Georgia soon. Thanks for stopping by.
Can someone archive all the hip hop mixtapes to digital?
Several collectors have digitized their tapes but I doubt there's someone out there will every mixtape made.
Bro LA had mixtapes poping in 86 878889 late mid 80 dg in la sold tapes at swaptmeet dr dra came iut mix circuit in California before the nyc mixtape boommof 90 we had jumping in 80
Sounds incredible. While I don't own any Dre tapes, I do have a ton from the "RAPP" series which were also big at the flea markets. I would love to hear/see more about those 80's tapes.
@@allthingsdarrelld ya well lucky for u look on TH-cam look up dg dr dre live in mix 86 roundemswamp also joe cooly kday mix ya in like early 80 after uncle jams army and wrecking crew kday am radio in 84 ,0r85 changed to only all rap station playing under ground rap in day night didn't matter they formed mixmaster click which citizen of Dr Dre Joe Cooley of call Rodney on Joe Cooley among many other dg who kut up mixed and it ended up recording a lot of the famous rap groups that came out in the early eighties and early nineties I was in San Diego were from but I got kday am station were I lived by beach most in my city could kday but I was blessed so I heard everything come out newyork as well new groups from la on come back u could bring clean version of your record to the station and they played they broke groups like rundmc Houdini fat boys EPMD who blew up west was great time place all mixtapes from swamp meet I still some times u also look kday mixtapes in 86 87 88
Great video. Book looks fantastic. Good luck getting everyone to sign it.
Just put up my response :)
Love it
Shout out to MC Groove. I'm formally known as DJ Mack. Lol. We made thst track in 1986.. Wow.. thanks for the love
love the first 10 or so issues of Static with the John Paul Leon art, also the Rebirth of Cool 4 issue series he did. Max Alan Fuchs is a wild boy and i want to see more Lady Facesmasher so i'm looking out for those Killmore books too. Ambassadors was a decent read but every issue was by a different artist so the one you showed is the only issue by Olivier Coipel. Coipel's done a ton of great work over the years, i first got on with him on his Avengers run in mid 2000's.
Am curious on how what plot to look for in comics
Chubby chub. That’s a guy you need to check out. He was early with jay z. Part of original Flava.
I Have at least 20 Chubby Chub tapes!
READ ALL COMICS ,Online Free!!!!
I hear ya. But I gotta have the physical copy in my hand!
only because of the tour nitro album is a dope dope dope album 5 mics
Great pick ups!
Good video, interesting group of comics,i enjoy your comments and know what you mean when you talk about that Conan comic bringing you back. I have a few comics and pulp mags, but am big into vintage paperback books. It is all related and fun, thanks.
Thanks for watching! What types of pulp mags do you collect?
@@allthingsdarrelld Hi, D, mostly sF, Captain Future, then 50s digests. Mostly all type paperbacks. I do some writing too, keeps me out of trouble. All best to you.
Man Rakim sounds cool AF
Man Rakim sounds cool AF
And the DJ Rectangle mixtapes were amazing too
I have a ton of Rectangle tapes. Thanks for stopping by.
I used to get the Doo Wop tapes from a local shop in the 90s ....wasn't easy being in England though
Great stuff man
falling behind on reading comics makes you a true comic collector..!
Haha! If that's true then I'm the King Collector!
i love the kool dj red alert comps i listened to today and became smitten with deputy burrow president kesha sutton james who spoke at statue unveiling. i had no idea you weren't in NYC!
Killer DD issue! I'm still after a decent priced one also! Great haul!
Thanks fo checking out the video!
beautiful thing to witness! thanks!
dont feel bad im more behind you in reading, i have 100s of comics i havent opened yet
I'm behind around 5 long boxes. That's pretty bad! Lol.
❤❤❤
Good to hear you found daredevil 16
Thanks, I was getting worried there for a second.
Morris Day t shirt for the win!
I love everything from Corben from the undergrounds, Warren magazines, to his work in Heavy Metal. Off topic, have you read Morbus Gravus by Elueteri Serpieri? Great horror sci-fi story!
I've never heard of that book but I looked it up and it seems pretty pricey. Maybe one day i'll find a decent priced copy. Thanks for stopping by.
@@allthingsdarrelld it's in Heavy Metal...I think the summer of 1986 or 87. It's the first appearance of the heroine Druuna, so it's going for $30 to $100 bucks depending on it's condition.
@@DPhasely I'll have to look for that one. Maybe I already have it in my collection somewhere. thanks.
Never seen those
Great video. Just saw LA's response and I'm gonna jump on this for sure. ....and yeah, you were right. She's On It was in the Krush Groove. The Disco Fever contest lol.
Dope
Yo dope episode!!! That REM you played was actually the "MONSTER REMIX" by KRS he even shouts out PAL JOEY who mad "HOT MUSIC".
We share a few similarities in record likes!!!
Slept on song in his catalogue.🐐
Big time
Yo, Darrell - I made my own RAP VINYL TAG video, inspired by you & Vinyl Richie. Tried to post a link here a few days ago, but I don;'t think it worked. Please go to my channel and let me know whatcha think of my tag video!
Amazing collection!
Wonderful collection! Are all these comics digitized somewhere, or do you have some comics never digitized? Just scared some works will be lost forever of your collection or other copies get lost
Thanks for watching. I don't digitize any of my comics. It's the physical copy or nothing for me.
@@allthingsdarrelld thanks for your response! what prompted by comment was a video i saw on how some Movie studio lost their collection of movies in a fire and they had to reach out to collectors for copies of their own movies. I saw another video of a guy complaining his DVD collection was getting bad and it turned out to be a well known problem due to one factory taking shortcuts in DVD production making DVDs that rot. Makes you think about backing up the physical media just in case.
Absolutely delighted that the TH-cam gods put your channel in my random feed! I have a ton of Corben and have been collecting his work since I was 11 and stumbled onto a couple issues of Skull in 1972 in NYC! Been crazy collecting his work ever since.....now I have 17 episodes of your show to 'collect'! Thanks Darrell and good hunting to you, Sir!
Thank you for the kind words and thanks for watching. Let me k now what you think about my collection.
showing hot fire !
Dollar bin Savage Sword is insane. Great collection
Fantastic stuff. Didn't know Corben Conan existed, wouldn't be surprised if his style fit that world better than most.
I think you are 100% correct, his style definitely fits that world better than most.
