Adventures in Thailand..!
December and Season's Greetings from rural NE Thailand!
December 20th and perfect Cool Season Weather in Korat, NE Thailand to explore the local village and farmland on my electric Fatbike.
Our village is currently busy draining our Village Reservoir as it is now dry season, and as soon as it is empty around a week's time, the excavators will move in the increase the depth and capacity, so it will be a busy few weeks around the village, especially once the New Year celebrations are out of the way!
After checking out the pumping activities at the Reservoir, we head off for a ride through the sugar plantations and rural farmland to enjoy the beautiful December morning..
I hope you can join me for the ride..!

Fitting a new Michelin tubeless tyre to a Kawasaki Vulcan 650s front wheel without Tyre Levers!
มุมมอง 7172 ปีที่แล้ว
Being very protective of my pristine Kawasaki Vulcan 650s Black Painted Alloy Wheels, I use the Zip Tie method to compress the new tyre sidewall and bead to allow tge new tyre to be slipped onto the wheel rim without any use of potentially damaging tyre levers. All you need are 10 or so long, heavy duty Zip Ties and some soapy water..Sounds just like a Thai Massage in certain areas of Bangkok.....
How to break the Tyre bead seal on your Motorcycle wheels without using Tyre Levers!

I don't know about you, but I am very fussy and protective when it comes to my Kawasaki Vulcan 650s and especially with the condition of my Black painted Alloy Wheels! So when it came to replacing my original factory Dunlops with a new set of Michelin Road 5's, I decided to try doing the job myself, with information gleaned from others, and a few necessary tools. My key aim was to use Tyre leve...

Ever try a hack saw when removing the old tire??
Awesome 👍
I did that yesterday with a inner tube tyre, no fuss and no swearing, brilliant
How did get old tyre off 😂
This very much AGAINST manufacturers recommendations. Go ahead and email them if you don't believe me. You should not do this to your tires!!! I literally changed my rear tire today. Took me no more than 5 minutes to put new one on. Leave the new tire out on the sun while you take the old one out or put a hair dryer inside until it heats up a bit. Add a bit of tire lube and it pops on super easy. Instead of fiddling with cable ties and potentially damaging your tire.
❤
I wonder how it would go with a stiff carcass tire 190/50/17 I was going to give it a try till I got the tires and realized how stiff and hard they are no give whatsoever I’m also wondering if the zip ties could potentially damage the tire at all
Try doing the zip tie method on a smaller 12 inch tyre impossible
Still need tyre livers to get the tyre off, personally it’s quicker with levers and a rim protector.
👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
That certainly worked! I’ve always found getting them off is much more difficult than putting them on. Purchased a decent bead-breaker for this purpose. The CO2 cartridges in repair kits usually dump enough air in to seal the bead if you use 2. Also - be careful with your brake rotors as they’re easily bent. Don’t ask me how I know. Great job! 👍🏻
Getting old ones off can be a real hassle. Like just removed one worn front tire from custom that was it like 10 years old, anyway first time I've noticed dry rot on sidewall of motorcycle tire. Was really hard to get off. Also bought one bike years ago and it also had so hard tire (tubeless) that i decided to just saw it off the rim 😂
Most impressive. And doubly so since you were spraying lube on the upper tyre bead, yet it was the lower bead that you didn't seem to spray that was being pushed down over the rim.....
Whaaaaaat the actual f**k did I just watch?! Me: I need to practise my thai, I’ll try an entertainment show to see what words and phrases I can identify. Comes across this chaotic mess with a convulsion of sound effects and bloody blackface!! Not What I Was Expecting.
Good video John. Curious as to why you needed to replace the impeller ?
I really enjoyed this video. I came to see a review of this particular mic but I ended up staying for the tour. It reminds me of some parts of the island where I live in the Caribbean 🙏
Hi. Good video. Thanks. I was looking to see if during this procedure I could determine why my exact same pump is running every 5 minutes or so even though no water is being used. No obvious leaks either. Any ideas much appreciated. Thanks. Michael
Have you checked for any air lock in the pump by slightly releasing the black plastic cap on the top tank? Normally if the pump is cycling it is a slight pressure leak somewhere in the outlet side of your system.. The smallest weep from a tap will cause it to happen.
Original tanks are not stainless tanks, I wonder why, We did this, pressure switch never worked properly after. Looks like you had the pressure switch replaced on there. The replacement tanks often have no screw holes to secure the top lid
Thank you for your reply. My pressure sensor is the original 15 year old one and works perfectly in the new SS tank. My Pump didn't have the later screw and bracket secured top cover, so the SS Tank matched my original perfectly. My pump is located under the house floor, so never had a problem with the pump cover unsecured fitting.
Alright I'm sold. Next tyre change os going on like this
Thanks for this video. I am impressed with the quality and clarity of these mics. I am glad to see proper real world usage of the gimbal and mics. Cheers.
well, this is not the Thai tv show that I was expected.
Are you in issan?
That's a big job John.
Hi! Yes, luckily most of the water was drained through drainage pipes into the adjacent canal..the last 30% has to be pumped out, before excavation can start.
is she in blackface…
Shame you can’t use that method to get the tyre off
I'll bet most shops wouldn't inflate it for you or will charge a stupid amount of money. I've got this response when taking my tyres to be fitted because they want to supply the tyres
Applause 👏
Awesome idea! Thanks
Great tour of your area. Thanks.
Removing the tyre is the problem
Neat, but - I hate to be that guy - firstly the old tyre needs to come off the rim - any hacks there?
Ive seen similar videos before and it is an easy way to mount a tire. What you fail to add is how you removed the old tire. I’d like to see your video on how you remove the tire with no tools and tie wraps. Cheers!
Per risparmiare 20 euro di montaggio 😂😂
Still need to ballance tyre after fitting
I was expecting to laugh my arse off at a fail but instead i am supremely impressed and looking forward to the next tyre change, cheers!
If it was a 12inch tyre u would of got your laugh
What about -15C in siberia and tyre with spykes (iron needles) 12" or 14"
and the old tyre jumps off the rim by itself :)
Wooww! This is a good one, thanks for share it
Get an old tyre from a Mini or similar to hold the wheel off the ground. Much better than banging the disc around on a piece of cardboard.
This is one of the best tricks ever, but… did your old tyre come off as easy?
Bei Reifendrucksensoren so nicht möglich😅😮
Это тот случай, когда хомуты халявные... Или ты работаешь на фабрике, которая производит хомуты....
40+ years of changing motorcycle, car, and lawntractor tires by hand, and I've never seen this cool trick! I'm going to try this on my motorcycle tires that should be here in a few days.
Clean up all the soap and water, dry it up, seal the rims, before releasing the zip ties?
Creative and seems to work well ! I always mounted my supermoto slicks, also tubeless, with tyre levers, but with a nice plastic strip you can put at the edge of the wheel, no scratches as well. Have been doing tyres, tubeless and tube (motocross) for years with levers and I can do it quite quickly. I do however use a stand so I can stay upright.
Tks ! 👍
A great video showing how to fit a tyre but how do you get the old one off without scratching the rim?
Are you going to balance them yourself?
looks good on video does not work in real life . tried with feont ties and rear... had to revert back to tire spoons
