All music done with the Teenage Engineering OP-1 Field. I put the vocals put through the CM-15 on the trip. The narration was done the same way at home when I got back. I took a Trip to Argentina and took my OP1-Field and my trusty Sony ZV-E10. If you’re new to filming and cinematography, this camera is incredible. I'm pretty new to the camera side of things and the quality of the footage I got...

It's so easy to collect unfinished works. In this video I talk about 5 things I think about when writing songs on the OP-1 Field, particularly from the viewpoint of a beginner, or aspiring songwriter that never finishes their ideas. For those that stick around, I offer something free for hanging out. Thanks for watching! I hope some of this helps your songwriting process. I'd love to hear your ...

Not a review, but a joyride. There are people that hold a certain level of respect from me in regards to the products they create. Products that I don't need to hear or see before I buy because I just know it's gonna be good. Their track records have proven that their passion and integrity come first. After seeing the videos for the Chroma Console, it was hard to wait the 4 weeks it took to get...

So beautiful!! 😍 anxiously awaiting for my field to arrive so your videos are helping to tide me over in the meantime ❤
@@ellemarshall8351 congratulations, and thanks for the kind words! 😃
What case is that?!

Great sound
subbed for life. you literally covered questions I wanted to ask about the mic on this thing haha
Aah! I’m so glad 👏🏼. Thanks for watching!
the recording at the start of the guitar sounds so clean 😭
🙏🏼
Thanks now I need a „Schwarzneger“ mic and they don’t exist 😂 great videos dude!
lol, thanks for watching!!

@@NovakTheEnjoyer That crunch is insane. Crazy to think it’s all digital… pretty cool though!

@@81realtime thanks!
Just stumbled across your channel Awesome stuff Would love to hear how you came up w a pop filter
Where could we get that pop filter for the CM-15??? 😮
I love this! I think what younger producers get into their head is “THIS way is the right way” when in reality, all the things we are doing is subjective and up to the individual. Is there a more effective fashionable way to do _______? Maybe, but if I can get that result in a different fashion 🤷♂️ if it sounds good, it sounds good
Yeah, man. I think there are definitely better ways to do some things, but for the most part, just catch the vibe and go.
02:56 WHATTT?!?! :0
😎
I love the op-1 f so much. and your approach feels so much like my own. is it me or is the op-1 more like an acoustic instrument than any other groovebox/ recorder/ synth? so yeah, thank you. your content has truly been inspirational to me.
@@boogerfoot thanks man, it means a lot. Yeah I love this thing. It really does feel more analog than most electronic instruments. The other day I needed to a sound for a project I’m working on in a DAW. It seems like everytime I try to use the midi functions of my midi keyboard to affect a soft synth in Logic, I have to figure out the same thing to set it up over and over again. I just turn the OP1 on and go. Everything in one place like an acoustic guitar, and you don’t even have to tune it! lol.
Looks great
Great share of your knowledge and skills/process. I stumbled across you a few days ago as ive jumped back on board the TE train, and bought the field. Hoping you make more like this! Thanks 😊
@@mikmc thanks for watching man! More soon to come 🙂
What a beautiful mic test. ❤
@@TechOutAdam thanks! 🙏🏼
OP-1 is the best songwriting device in the world!
I agree. I’ve never had another instrument propel me into new ideas as much as the OP-1. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for keeping us up with the occasional short. Hope you kill it on that contract 😄
HE NEVER MISSES
Very nice sound design and bold storytelling, between a classique review and a very engaging and personnel story Congrats and thank you for sharing !
Thanks for watching! I’m really glad you liked it 😁
Nice bowie chord changes going on.
⚡️
loved this. subscribed. downloaded the samples (thank you). watched a few vids and will work my way through the others. I still mainly record to cassette (guitar / Bugbrand modular / drum sampler / MS20) and use an old version of Audacity for editing things together (where you had no undo once file was saved) so the OP1 Field "limitations ... are not limitations".
Old school baby! Thanks for watching 💪🏼
So good. Wish it was longer! Gotta use that repeat button. 😁
@@jcelwin9 awe, thank you!!
You, sir, are an inspiration. I think I have watched all your content and cannot WAIT to get my OP-1. I am old, but I am not going down without a fight.
I appreciate that very much! Stick with it. It doesn’t take long, but once you get used to the workflow it’s a real creation station. So many possibilities, happy accidents, and immediate results. Jam on!

Would love to see your furry cm-15 pop filter on the Novak shop as well 🙂
Noted!
Love, love this song. Question. How did you record the electric guitar?
Hey thanks for watching! I recorded the guitar just like you see in the video. I sat the OP1F up on its side and played into the mic. 🙂👍🏼 I always use the vocoder with the mix turned all the way to the red dot and use the reverb of the vocoder to effect my clean tone. Not sure I have much reverb on the guitar this time around, but it’s always good to have the option. If I remember correctly, I recorded 2 takes and panned each one to opposite sides.
I saw that the acoustic was recorded direct to the CM-15. The Jazzmaster looks like you’ve got a guitar cable plugged in. Did you mic an amp with the CM-15? I’ve watched the video multiple times. Sorry if I missed a scene showing how the Jazzmaster was mic’d 🙂
@@karabinerstudios shit, I forgot all about the Jazzmaster. That was plugged straight in. Sorry I totally miss read your first question 🤦🏻♂️. Acoustic mic’d with the OP1F and Jazzmaster > Line in.
Absolutely beautiful song. I had an OP 1 and keep watching vids on the field waiting for something like this to inspire me to pull the trigger. Thanks.
Wow, thank you! It's a really fun machine at the right time in life. I bought and returned 2 OG OP1's before I finally vibed with the workflow. The Field changed the way I create all together :)
Thanks man! I haven’t tried to bounce yet but this is great advice! Now that i have big knobs in the op1f I’m ready to bounce haha!
Yo! Thanks again for rocking the knobs and supporting the channel! It's kinda crazy how many little pathways of workflow there are in this simple little device.
Where did he buy that furry thing he put on the mic at 7:58
I just made this one off the cuff. Still trying to figure out a way to put it out, but I'll announce when it happens. It's been taking quite a while. Thanks for watching!
Good stuff as always man!

Hey! Thanks for watching
what an amazing video! op-1 masterclass for songwriting!🤟🏼
@@eddytemponi4843 thanks dude!!
could you plug something to Line In that gives you 2-3 Ins? something like a mixer?
@@eddytemponi4843 absolutely! The tx6 is a great example of this. A little pricey, but anything with and out will work 🙂
@@NovakTheEnjoyer will look for other options but would be great! tx-6 too much for this purpose only 😅
Before the TX6, I would use the myVolts MickXer to split my Modular up and record to the OP1F. It’s a really great and cheap way to to take 5 ins to 1 out and 1 to 5 as well.
@@NovakTheEnjoyer great option! thanks!
Man, love your videos! Watching on the commuter train to/from work and getting all inspired for when I get home to my OP1. Please never stop making jams! /Chris from Stockholm
Chris, I can't tell you how crazy it feels to hear that someone on the other side of the world has watched my videos and made jams as a result. I took a little break, but I'll be getting back to it pretty soon. Thanks so much for watching!!
what windscreen are you using on the cm-15?
I made it, but it's a bit of a Frankenstein so I can't put it up in my shop as it is.
Big Radiohead vibes. Love it! ❤

Great work! How do you process your vocals in this one besides layering?
Thanks dude! I sang through the CM 15 into the TX-6 and took a little bit of the highs and a little bit of the lows down. I think I may also have added a little compression from the TX-6 as well. The mother Reverb on the OP1F is always present.
