WAIT A DAMN SECOND- I genuinely wish to know how this works given this game's *everything*. Eyvel usually has a hidden passive skill that prevents her death, but...this footage displays her being captured? And like, I wouldn't be commenting about that just by this alone, I would chalk it up to a funny quirk in the code...BUT CHAPTER 5 HAS VERY IMPORTANT EYVEL PLOT STUFF! Does the game just plop her into that plot stuff instead of the usual Captured Unit treatment of making a rescue operation in the late-game? Does the game just softlock in Chapter 5 because the Sage blocking the path is a JoJo Piller Man that's a wall until the plot stuff ends? WHAT HAPPENS?!

I think Res being considered the worst stat and being memed so hard isn't because it isn't good, I think it's because people really hate getting levels in things they didn't want as opposed to speed and strength. If you miss a crucial speed level, it really hurts to get skill and res.

Sort of late, but a great tip to avoid most of the traps is to pay attention to the AI movement since they'll avoid said traps.

While I've played PoR multiple times (though not as much as GBA games), I've only played RD once and never want to play it again. The first half of Part 1 and the Dawn Brigade Part 3 are the best part. The Elincia and GM are good on par with PoR, and part 4 just sucks. Now most FE game has a sucky map or two (my former favorite FE12 has chapter 3 and the fog chapters), but rarely do they suck back-to-back like part 4. BEXP is really one of the greatest innovations in the franchise and I'd love to have it back.

Don't underestimate Cistia, she's the best boss killer for most of the game.

TBH the fact that the game is not super tight on the gameplay front is fine. The units that are meant to be powerful, or become powerful, inevitably become carries for the final map. It feels like a story-driven decision, which is what the game is really about.

The Staggering Blows Hoarfrost and Wilted Flower also deal true damage as they both ignore Protection.

To be completely fair, L'Arachel at 20/6-ish Valkyrie can basically solo Chapter 18. Her Avo is high enough that stone isn't a realistic risk, and her Res is near-capped by that point, plus WTA so the Gorgons wet noodle whenever they actually (Rarely) do hit.

As someone who was largely frustrated and disappointed in Path of Radiance after seeing it get an absurd amount of hype, this is incredibly cathartic to find. Thank you.

I would arguement of investment of Delthea in SoV is mitigated by the fact that outside of dungeons, she generally does not compete with a deployment slot

Some good comments here: I've thumbs-upped @MythrilZenith proposing Miranda as a better archetype and @MrMarket1987 looking harder at the "low starting stats" idea. If Echoes Est is an Est, what about Mathilda! Echoes Shadows of Valentia is only FE I've played so far and can discuss. Its promotion system means Est, Sonya (if chosen) and Mathilda all join at the same time (for the route they are on) and the same number of level-ups (nine) away from promotion. They join well before halfway through the game, though when three quarters of each team have already joined before them. For a benchmark, Deen (alternative to Sonya) and Luthier (before Mathilda) start four levels ahead, relatively. Write Sonya off as "bad unit" if you like, but Mathilda is the one with some starting stats actually below what her class base should be, and with the expected growths (with the promotion stats-safety-net system) to make her good. So why single out Est? Jesse joins two maps earlier with one extra level-up needed, but do we take him all the way back to the seabound shrine for his intermediate promotion, or do we make him wait until the dragon shrine which will put him a skirmish and a map behind the others? Delthea certainly stands out, joining three maps and a dungeon later (than Mathilda and Est) with eleven level-ups to find, and being the last unpromoted recruit on Alm's route with Conrad the only less-than-fully-promoted one to come on Celica's.

One of the worst maps in FE ever only for those silly hidden warp tiles. I somehow saved Eyvel but missed the rings. 😅
