The Orioles haven't moved the fences/walls nearly as much as the Indians did when they played at Municipal Stadium, where they moved the fences in and out like an accordion. In 1968, they moved the left and right center field fences back from 367 feet to 385 feet and then in 1970 they moved the fences back in to 365 feet. The homerun stats were extremely flawed, especially for the Indians who hit 133 homeruns at home in 1970 but only 50 away. In 1976, they moved them back again, turning Municipal Stadium into pitcher's paradise. It was crazy. They made further changes but this post is too long, so I'll stop.

This new proposal looks even worse with left center moving to 363ft and providing an even more akward angle for players to have to navigate that will come into play more frequently than the current deep left center odd angle. Why not (and the Orioles should have done this in the first place when renovating the wall) move the bottom bullpen underneath the batters eye in center and then realign the overlapped section of the bullpen that jets out with the new left field wall, thus removing odd angles, and still move the fences in enough to the liking of the team.

Just lower the wall and try to smooth out the angles a bit and be done with it.

Their mistake was both moving the wall BACK, and RAISING IT at the same time! This multiplied the effect. One or the other would've likely served their purpose.

I think they are interested in a right handed power hitter this offseason, plus the wall helped the pitching but really hurt the right handed hitting. They just announced their move to Steinbrenner Field for 2025. As to fixing the Tropicana Field or building the new stadium, those are up in the air. Pinnellas county is not happy about their move to another county and some people in the county board may want to delay the redvelopment till next year because of costs and their move to Steinbrenner which is in Hillsborough County,.
