First MTB Ride Of The Year - Snow Valley
I haven't really mountain biked at all this year. so, for my first ride back, I decided to hit up snow valley along woth my brother, Kevin, and Martin. I was using my diamondback atroz for this trip since I gave my brother the himalo Enduro bike which he was using.
unfortunately, my brother and I ended up leaving early since it was getting hot and he had work.but we were able to ride the trails atleast once which was good.
sorry for not much video clips, my gopro8 was acting up.

      I dont remember which maxxis tire o had up front but these tires have similar tread as maxxis ikons. Compared to the ikons, Speed wise I'd say they are the same. When it comes to grip, the maxxis is better cause it's softer rubber. Additionally, maxxis can come in tubeless ready which makes it much easier to set up tubeless. You can run the Billy goats tubeless but you'll need more wraps of rim tape to make it fit more snug

    • @BFBMTb
      @BFBMTb 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes my frame is a medium. The battery I'm using is the 52v 17.5ah shark battery by upp. The battery I'm looking at getting is the g56 battery. It's basically the same dimensions as the hailong 1 with it being 365 in length and 90 mm tall. If my calculations are correct, the battery should fit if you use a non-piggyback shock with a M frame. I do have a dead hailong that I might use to test fit. I'll try and pick up a used rs deluxe or so this weekend to see if it'll fit like I'm thinking.

      The rear is pretty sturdy and pretty much what you'd expect from an Enduro class bike. The bike is nimble and soaks up chunky stuff easily with my current settings. I've hit tabletop jumps on the bike and it does well but the coil shock isn't a "poppy" as an air shock. I'm going to build up another 29er himalo as an ebike with bbs02 since I use this bike for bike parks and downhill and enduro racing. The new himalo bike im going to build is going to be a full 29er with 2.6 inch wide tires which will give the motor enough clearance. It'll also have an inline airshock since that is the only shock I can run with having a g56 battery in the frame

    Hello there! I'm torn between the ICAN P1 (best vaule), Airwolf, Trifox , DYI or BXT carbon and the Himalo AL bike frame. I'm particularly drawn to the geometry of your bike. Before settling on this frame, did you consider other options? I'm grappling with whether to invest an extra $200 for carbon or opt for an aluminum frame and spend the extra money on upgrading components. Your insights would be immensely valuable in helping me make the right decision for my purchase and bike build. Thank you in advance for any guidance you can provide

    • @BFBMTb
      @BFBMTb 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi. Yes, I looked at other options before I built my bike. I was actually looking at ican since i read great reviews on the forums. I also was looking at bxt, but they didn't have a frame that fit my needs. What eventually steered me to the himalo frame is the price and travel. I already had other bikes with lower travel, and I wanted a bike with 150 or 160 mm of travel which the himalo has with a 55mm or 60mm stroke shock. Also, the price for the himalo frame was way less compared to the other carbon options out there. So, in my case, the himalo frame fit my requirements and I could invest a little more in components. Hmmm if you have the option to go with the ican, I'd say go for it since you'll save a little weight, plus you'll have the dampening qualities of carbon

    • @BFBMTb
      @BFBMTb 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the angle but I need to find a way to secure it a little better. I used one of those saddle mounts and also an extension piece to bring out and position the gopro a little higher to the point where I can have the rear tire show just a little bit. You can somewhat see the setup after I fell and was talking about what line to I should have use. The problem is that since I used an extension, the gopro does shake a little when it comes to chunkier bits. I also tried my hero 7 and hero 8 on the rear mount with some stairs and found that the hero 8 does a better job of stabilizing compared to my hero 7. I got to find a way to stabilize the extension a bit better, or I can just upgrade to a new gopro and use my hero 8 as a rear view camera.

      Yeah I wasn't too happy with the helmet Mounted Rear View Footage. It's nice and stabilized but doesnt give a good representation of speed or the terrain like footage from the saddle gives. I'm going to try and play around with the saddle mount a little more and maybe use some extensions to bring up the camera a little bit so the whole tire doesnt take up all of screen. What other mounting locations did you try? I'm thinking about getting one of those claw mounts to try and mount it on the chainstay or even the fork leg. I'm also thinking about dusting my old lumix camera for some tripod footage.

    • @BFBMTb
      @BFBMTb 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      160 is what the manufacturer recommends but you can normally go 20mm more or less without effecting geometry too much. The increase in 20mm will decrease your headtube angle by about 1 degree

      @@BFBMTb himalo 2nd gen ? Support 180mm ?

    • @BFBMTb
      @BFBMTb 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mdazame6525 this is 1st gen. The 2nd gen is also recommended to use 160mm fork. I forgot to mention that my frame is a 29er but I use 27.5 wheels and forks. The 27.5 180mm lyriks are about the same axle to crown length as the 29er 160mm lyrik. Headtube angle and seat tube angle isn't really effected since the axle to crown is similar. The bottom bracket does sit a bit lower since im using 27.5 wheels and the chainstay is a little bit longer compared to the 27.5er frame. These are things that i wanted in this build. The minor change in headtube angle is one of the reasons why I installed an angle headset, to slacken the bike even more while also elongating the front by a few mm.

    Hi, how does the frame suspension work on small, midle and big obstackles? What is Your feedback?

    • @BFBMTb
      @BFBMTb 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The frame shock and suspension linkage works very well and is sensitive. With out the rear shock on, The rear triangle goes through its travel smoothly and with no stiction or hesitation. The rear suspension is highly sensitive with a coil shock and absorb small chatter and bigger hits really well. There's another video I posted of using the bike on a more rugged trail and later on tbe switched bikes with my brother who has a shorter travel bike. I was able to go much faster and more stable on the himalo bike compared to the other bike. This version of the frame had a 66 degree headtube angle (the new version has 64 degree) so it felt a little twitchy on steering for me. I've since put in a -2 degree angle headset and the bike is now where I want it to be when it comes to steering and stability. As for strength, it's been good. We recently rode it at a bike park this weekend and my brother was using it and it did well. My brother doesn't ride as crazy as me but he did smaller drops and jumps and weighs 200lb so his extra weight tested the frames strength imo. I'm going to be using the bike on a dh race in the next two weeks.

    • @konradpietrus1668
      @konradpietrus1668 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BFBMTb So as l understand IT is sensitive at the begining, eats midle and big bumps and is progressive at the end. What about cross country style riding i mean trupa on flat terrain. Is It possibile in Your opinion. Isn't there top much pumping because of sensitive begining of the stroke? P.S. keep my fingers crossed for You in DH competition.

    • @BFBMTb
      @BFBMTb 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmmm I can see it doing okay with xc style riding if the build is more xc oriented. My setup is geared for downhill and with the coil, its really sensitive especially at the top. Also, i have no lock out so i turn compression up when climbing to make it more efficient. There is bob when im sprinting. But i think an xc style build with a shock that can lock out or a pedal mode like on rs shocks to help prevent power loss through the suspension would be really good, not to mention the 1lb or so of weight saved. That, along with fast rolling xc tires like mezcals, barzo, or Syerra. Maybe also lighter weight fork like a pike to save a few more grams. A build like that would possibly get you in the 30.x lb range and would probably be a nice build since you'll have more efficiency but you'll have the long travel for when things get really rough. Ofcourse there's trade offs such as less grip and it possibly might not be as efficient as a pure xc bike.
