I Love to Camp in Crazy Places!
Journey to Gaziantep - Capital of Turkish Cuisine
In this video I take a look at the Charon Relief above Antakya, the World's Oldest Christian Cave Church, & the City Centre Devastated by recent Earthquakes. From there I catch a Bus to Gaziantep, the Centre of Turkish Cuisine. I try numerous Gaziantep Specialties: Katmer, a Heavenly Filo Pastry Pillow of Clotted Cream & Pistachios; Alinazik Kebab, made with Lamb atop Eggplant Puree Yoghurt; & of course, Baclava!

Stealth Camping in Earthquake-Devastated Antioch
มุมมอง 24216 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
On February 6th, 2023, South-Eastern Turkey was hit by a pair of Massive Earthquakes. Fairing the Worst was the city of Antakya, Anciently known as Antioch. After a year, the city is still in Shambles, slowly picking up the pieces. The once-thriving city centre lies in Complete Ruins & is eerily quiet. I spend the night atop the shell of a Damaged Building, waking to a truly Post-Apocalyptic la...

Not adding any music while showing the scenery is such a perfect unintentional asmr which is why I really enjoyed the video. I hope ur having good time while travelling around the Turkiye.
@Kaan-wy3ec Thanks, I'd always rather use the ambient audio, a much more immersive experience!
As a 25 years old Turkish man i've never been to Gaziantep before. You're lucky :)
Dude, I liked your video. If you want to see Mersin, you can reach me anytime so we can show you around and eat great food. But I think one of the best cities in Turkey where you can eat the most delicious food is Gaziantep and Hatay.
You mean Kurdish cuisine.
Gaziantep is a Turkish city. Read some before making idiotic comments
@ - Don’t worry, Kaaner, when Ocalan is released you will soon see where Kurdistan is.
calm down everyone, plenty of baklava to go around - you saw it. If I had just one of those round platters...
stayed at the exact spot a week earlier from this video. greetings from ankara

Nice music. Sounds a bit like a mix of Kevin Eubanks and David Qualey. Nice🤭
Why somebody would want to insist to do This is just Kind ofwacko
Unbelievable! Thanks for documenting your travels and showing them to us.
The bit that upsets me watching this is seeing the pets. I would have to go with a big van and scoop them all up. :(
You have a healthy attitude towards war. I was meant to be a warrior. My older brother and hero was in the Vietnam War. That changed my thinking. Did you weep while you were there. It's alright if you didn't, I'm just emotional.
It truly is a magnificent land.
Thank you for sharing I always enjoy your videos, music, drone footage it all just comes together well done
Wow! Surprised that so many of the tiles, bricks, etc. weren't being re-used. It was interesting to note that all of the modern rebar buildings were mostly intact - it was just all of the older stuff with non-steel reinforced concrete walls. Which is a huge pity because of all of the beautiful old style building are now just rubble.
Ironically, it is known that this city was destroyed by very strong earthquakes several times. Due to its location, this is a geography where many communities are densely settled. I guess this is the fate of this city. it is known that there was no uprising in this region even during the Ottoman period. probably the people of this city were an ancient community that had always lived in this area until recently. some of the legends are still told by the old people who live in that city . it comes to them from their ancestors .
@@hk8450 Such an ancient place tells many tales
the fact that the earthquake occurred along a line with crowded cities hundreds of kilometers long, that it was a shallow earthquake, and that the subsequent earthquakes affected the region much more strongly based on its location, magnified the dimensions of the disaster. some neighborhoods were buried 6 meters underground due to the liquefaction of the soil. 200km long plate was moved.

You probably already know this. Acts 11:26 the disciples were called christians first at Antioch. NIV
@oneil4252 Yes it is such an important historical city
Cool camp spot, but very shocked you managed to capture TWO Holden UTEs driving past; incredibly rare in the UK.
Haha I've just spotted you're in Aus, good stuff anyway!
Does anyone really know how all this work was done? I can't imagine how it looked when it was new. Or even what life was like.
@@oneil4252 It really is unfathomable
I like that, smoking a cigarette, stirring tea, driving a car with no seatbelts. 😊 I had a 63 ford no seatbelts. Had to put a big rope behind the seat to strap my son's car seat to.

@oneil4252 Yes it is such a beautiful city
Disgusting to see people write their own name on those nice drawings ! Believe me it's not about religion people do that to Ottoman era artifacts too... I wish there's a big penalty for those who scratch artifacts.
Hi Tim ! hope you doing well ! Where did you land with your Australia flight and how did you took your bike with you :O Greetings from İstanbul / Kadıköy district ! have fun on your trip !
@@Pitiless.Arbiter Hello & thanks! My flight landed in Istanbul, where I bought my bike!
It must take a certain measure of balls to ride around foreign countries on an ebike and what not.
@oneil4252 Haha yes I never knew what would be happening next!
Turkish guy here, hope you enjoyed the trip and food. Despite the name similarity, Iskender actually originates in Bursa, not iskenderun 😅. The name comes from the surname of the inventor. Still, should taste pretty good though. There are definitely other dishes to be tried in Iskenderun. Sad to see the effects of the earthquake (messed up tiles in the park for example) there still, Iskenderun was heavily damaged.
@416KPD Noooo my whole life has been a lie!!!!😭 Went all the way there with no clue... To think I was in Bursa & didn't have Iskender kebab there, if only I'd known!

Very interesting.
Where is this? Looks like a great place to fish.
@oneil4252 This is on the West Coast of the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus, & Yes it is a great place to fish! Osman filled his entire Squid Bag in an hour.
14:06 cool mythical background 🐍👑 from wiki: Shāhmārān comes from the Persian words Shāh (شاه), and mārān (ماران; transl. 'snakes'; sg. مار mar) ('the king of snakes'): half-snake and half-woman, portrayed as a dual-headed creature with a crown on each head, possessing a human female head on one end, and a snake's head on the other, featuring in the tale _The Story of Yemliha: An Underground Queen_ from the 1001 Arabian Nights. In Adana in southern Turkey, the *Yılankale* (Snake Castle) is locally known as her home; her story and imagery are considered a national treasure in Turkey, depicted in embroidery, fabrics, rugs, and jewelry..." From the tales, she seemed a nice lady. Likely worth meeting her... maybe next time 😂 Thank you for sharing your great journey this year. Happy holidays and a 2025 full of adventurous travels 🥳🎉
Lucky you are sure footed 😅 made my anxiety go up lol

Thanks for sharing i see a face in the rock on the left @ 14:20-23 ..
Hmmm, I hadn't noticed that!
yeah, it looks like the Australian comedian Isaac Butterfield
I think there is still a huge part that has not been discovered or buried places. Because there are so many warehouses. This much warehouse can feed so many people for a long time. So there must be a lot of room for sleeping and sitting.
@hk8450 Yes definitely, this place is sprawling & massive, the public area only comprises a small fraction of its full size
But I thought it was dug in the Younger Dryass by the Annunaki's slaves to protect them from the flood so someday one of them could tell someone how to make fire and stuff and transmit the Atlantean culture to the proto-Egyptians so we in modern times could make up trippy stories while high - as Ancient Astronaut theorists contend. No?

12:20 you have an eve capturing a male voice saying something. You captured a ghost!
I hope those puppies have a good home. That is the one thing about traveling that is so hard, you often see stray dogs and cats starving and in bad condition but those puppies look healthy. The area is very interesting and it would interesting to know what the villagers know about them.
