@@RickRuizAudio Thanks. Postscript: after trying everything, I finally in desperation was turning off and on various functions: DLNA, etc Finally I disabled Hilbylink and voila! Suddenly the phone connected and I could stream on Bluetooth again. Streaming in 96kh really does sound exceptionally good so most likely I will just keep this one so long as it works but maybe upgrade some day.

I just did a video on the SMSL DO100 Pro. Pretty much interchangeable in sound. I have the D-6s on the way, but I'm assuming it will be the same. I'll make that video next week 👍

Which one did you try? And sure they aren't the best, I wouldn't say they sound like shit. Just better than an analog out on a TV or computer. But for the price, it's a step above the basic built in dacs. Spend $200 and the Topping D50iii and SMSL D-6s blow these away. Assuming the speakers are good as well. No, you would need a headphone amp or a DAC with a headphone input for that.

You always need a phono pre amp. Sometimes it is built into the turntable and other times you have to provide your own. What turntable do you own or want to buy?

@@Beb0ptrane you need a phono preamp. It goes between the turntable and the A10, because the A10 only has 2 line level inputs. No phono inputs. What is your budget for a phono preamp?

Who did you buy it through? Won't they exchange it for you since you've only had it a week? Maybe they (Topping) have a bug in the last firmware and a new one will have a fix. Sorry to hear Scott. But thanks for sharing.

@@RickRuizAudio I got the updated firmware through the seller, and it still doesn't work. Exchanging it wouldn't help because I'd still be unable to upgrade the firmware. Hoping to return it for a refund. Very frustrating.

@@scottrex3435 May I ask, why do you need to update the firmware? I have my review sample and I don't see any problem with the one installed. Is there a new feature you wanted to get with the update?

@@RickRuizAudio When I powered it on, the only thing the screen would display was "DFU." It was inoperable.

@@scottrex3435 Ahh. Got it. Yeah. Mine goes to DFU when you power it on with a long press. Then to go back to normal mode, I have to unplug it, replug it in, then give the power a regular short press to power it on. Or use the remote.

Yeah, I reset it as well. With the reset button on the remote control. The EQ sound modes are slightly different but yes, output did increase. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching! 👍

Did you try complete factory reset then reconnect then reconnect to wifi? Maybe point antennas in a different direction? I really don't know. mine was at about 10 meters from router and blocked by 4 walls. 1 exterior and 3 interior walls. You might be right and could have a bad unit.

They are a custom build. Based on Joseph Crowes' Sabourin Plan, so it has that bass cabinet and the mid was modified from Horn to Open Baffle Dipole and I had him custom design the horn for the super tweeter. 👍 Thanks for watching!

I totally get it. Well... The octo is my pic, because I love that laid back sound. But if you want detail and more energy the D50iii is an awesome pic as well. I have the D90 III Sabre in now and that D50 sounds pretty close to the D90! So you won't go wrong saving the money either. Just really a matter of what type of sound you like. 👍

Lol. The box is pretty thin. I don't think it's suited for a really strong woofer. Plus, when designing a speaker, it's best to start with the woofer and build the box off of its parameters. But a new silk dome tweeter would be nice, then cross at around 1.5kHz

On the Octo, I liked filter 5, and filter 2. You can find the Sound modes in the D70 Pro Octo, not the A70 Pro, in the Advanced menu, just under the filter menu. Thanks again!

@@RickRuizAudio yes the d70 Octo. I have not the sound mode. I've only DAC mode. Why?

Check manual here: www.toppingaudio.com/download/d70-pro-otco-user-manual You should see Filter, then Advanced. Select advanced and you should go into next menu and see Sound Mode. If it's not there, maybe it needs a firmware update.

Hey PTG, I just researched the problem you have with your DAC and Coax. May I ask, what model do you have? Do you have the D50iii? Just to be clear if Topping hasn't fixed the coax s/pdif issue with the Cirrus Receiver chip. I tested the D50iii I have, over coax as well and I personally don't have any lock problems, so I could just be luck or the problem could have been resolved on the new product revision. As for Apos's Support, I'll email them and ask their policies. I think they should just swap yours out if the coax isn't functioning, but they do claim to have a 45 day return window.

@@RickRuizAudio I have the D50S which I've used for a long time purely on optical so I was not aware of Coax problems until I had to use Coax input waaaay after APOS's 45 day return window. I have 2 other fantastic DACs (Marantz, Denafrips) and NONE OF THEM have the COAX signal locking issue. It is an obvious design flaw that they refuse to acknowledge and fix. I would be happy with just a swap with a similar unit that works. Oh well.. door weight....

Hey Ramon, Thanks for the suggestion! If Geshelli sends me a loaner, I'd love to take a look at it, but I just don't like their styling to purchase one myself. I don't like the case. I wish they would offer a nice, clean aluminum enclosure for a little money more. If I have to make the case myself, it would cost around $200 but they can get that down to under $40 with higher volume production.

I don't know if it's "better". It's Different. I prefer the sound of the Octo, but the Sabre is technically more correct. Sabré is more transparent and controls bass better. The Octo is softer and more relaxed, almost like R2R sound.

Yeah, I do but in a slightly fuller, looser bass. The Sabre a tighter more precise bass. So more rumble on the Octo but a good rumble.
