Looks like it has been a year since this video. Have you experienced any cracks at all on your dome thus far? I hear hairline cracks are common but just curious if you have had any hairline or worse at all?? ..thx 👍🏼
Hi! I do have one or two hairline cracks. They happened early on and haven’t changed. I still think about them, but they don’t bother much. At some point, I will do a video on how everything is holding up.
It’s gonna come out great, thank you!
Hello question for you. When bridged using the angle Iron in the front of your oven. Did you recess the agnhle iron into the cinder block. Thank you very much
I did not recess the angle iron. I am skim coating and covering the iron with stone so the 1/4” the iron sticks out is easily covered.
Thank you very very much. You and your wife truly inspirational. Thank you for sharing
they should be 4 inch anchors bro
Thanks!
What did you use instead of the instructions
I used the build app on my phone that is supplied with the pergola.
@@blood_sweat_and_beers Thank you
Awesome again great teamwork
Nice Job learned lots. Thanks for sharing. Awsome
Great vid thank you. What landscape fabric did you use?
Any professional grade landscape fabric will work. I personally stay away from woven landscape fabric.
No mortar on the vertical joints?
@@CJINW correct. Not needed for a pizza oven base when you fill the cores with concrete. Technically you could dry stack the rows as well, but my blocks were not all the same height.
Hardi board is not water proof. Idk like the idea…. You did say if it falls out it will be ok.
Yes, it is ok. It is only needed to support the concrete as it cures. Once the concrete is cured, it serves no structural purpose.
How tall is it to the top of the table? Really interested in ordering this splitter. It just seems short. How tall are you? Does it seem like a good height to you?
I am 6’. It may be a bit short for some. not near it to measure at the moment. It certainly isn’t short enough to be uncomfortable for me. I’ve split for many multiple hours in a row.
@@blood_sweat_and_beers appreciate it! I’m 6’ also. At least you don’t have to lift the logs as high. Just making sure it seems fairly natural to you. Appreciate the videos! Thank you.
@@blood_sweat_and_beers really appreciate the reply and the videos. I’m 6’ also. Just making sure it’s comfortable and seems natural to you. At least you don’t have to lift the rounds as high. Thanks again.
How tall is the working height of the table area? Thanks!
I will have to measure and get back to you.
Did you order that splitter through Home Depot? Would you purchase again?
Yes, ordered through Home Depot. Love the splitter. Would buy again for sure.
@@blood_sweat_and_beers thanks, how tall are you? I found online that the table height is only 25” which seems pretty low? Not sure if that’s true or not? Does this bother you ever or feel like you’re bending over? My current splitter is 31”
@@blood_sweat_and_beers ? Looking to order this unit, but can’t find the height? ..
I think your chain is dull.
Protip , move the nut all the way up and beat on that rather than beating on the threaded bolt
Doing similar and found a few answers to my questions! Thanks a bunch!
Can you give us the measurements please ?
Nice video. Exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely go with the rubber mulch on my next project.
I just started gardening and I used landscape fabric and the black rubber mulch. When I plant a flower, I just move the rubber mulch, cut a hole in the landscape fabric and plant. I don’t lie rubber mulch around the base of the plant. I receive lots of compliments and the rubber mulch does not blow away.
hello how are you sir today and video good very good video ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How deep is your concrete?
@@dylananddaddy the footer is down to our frost line which is 42”
nice job. Picanha looks amazing
I wish you would have addressed the pipe freeze issue. Putting blow outs on the outside with pressurized water still sitting on pipes in freezing conditions. I would have put the valves inside the house Secondly show how you insulated
Hi. Take a look at the 10:05 mark. I show how I put the valves inside the house. The line out from that valve drains when I blow out the lines. I did not insulate the pipes.
Do you realize how many times you say “Ummm” ????? Fuuuuuuudge! It’s driving me effing crazy! If you have a girlfriend, she deserves flowers! 😳
What cement and psi do you use for making footings for say the Costco 12x14’ roof covered pergolas? Is there a reference site where you learned the proper engineering specs for all of this you can share?
I like those vavles. Im doing this in 2024. I was looking for those vavles because i live in mass. Freezing cold out here in the winter
They work great! Really happy with my setup! Good luck!
This is a stupid question but when in the installation process should you actually anchor it to the concrete? Would it be best to wait till the whole thing is installed and anchor it last?
Depends on the gazebo. Mine is all wood with a metal roof so the very last step was anchoring it to the slab so that we could get everything square. Some aluminum pergolas require it towards the beginning because they flex much more. Hope this helped.
Just remove the firebricks and it’s easy to move.
I have pavers on top of concrete. Do you think that I can anchor through both the pavers and concrete?
That is what I would do. I would drill the hole for the anchor through both the paver and into the concrete. I would then drill out the holes in the paver a little bit so the anchor passes through them and into the concrete.
@@blood_sweat_and_beersthank you. This is exactly what I was thinking
@@Ant_007we are doing the same exact thing, limestone pavers and concrete underneath. The problem was that the included concrete screws are not long enough once they get to the concrete. We only had about 1/2” of screw in the actual concrete. Handyman installer said atleast 2” of the screw needs to be in the concrete not the pavers. 👍🏼
Did you put any insulation or gap in between the concrete landing and the pizza floor tile?
@@SuperMoeLarryCurly I did not. I wish I would have though. I am sure I am losing a little heat retention due to this.
Everything looks amazing, I think I will go this route...Thanks for the video!
Thanks for sharing. Couple of quick questions, how did you create concrete footings for Pergola? Is there any other way to secure it to interlocking that you explored?
Make yourself a slurry of portland and with a very small paint brush or even a cloth lightly brush your rock edging to fill in those small holes. Like your kitchen, but love your back yard.
The pvc pipes where you connected the copper lines to the pex waterlines, did you cover it somehow? I can see rodents going in there.
I cut a piece of hardware cloth to fit the opening and made holes for the pipes. This was enough to keep rodents out.
How long did you let your cement dry before putting the anchors in ?
The footings were poured in fall and pergola was installed in spring, so about six months. However, you could wait as little as two weeks.
Question for you... What did you use for sheathing on the outside of your steel structure? ...1/2" Durock or ?? thx in advance for your response 👍🏼
1/2” Durock on the walls. 5/8” plywood for the roof.
@@blood_sweat_and_beers Thank you 🙏
Did you take out pavers? Or can you drill through the pavers
To securely anchor the pergola, you will need to remove pavers to dig a hole for your concrete footing.
Awesome video! Your entire series is really demystifying this whole process for my wood fired oven build, cant thank you enough for this content 👍🏼
Do you have a video showing how you poured the footings
AWESOME SET OF VIDEOS! Thanks so much for taking the time to make these. I've watched all of them, some several times while building my Casa100. Its not complete but it will be soon ..nice job!
get to the point dude
Great video series! Glad I watched it before assembling our Backyard Discovery Pergola.
Completely agree! Depending on your miter saw fence setup you might be able to get enough support (with zero clearance or near zero clearance fence) but you can’t go wrong supporting the cut this way. One other option would be to lay the liner flat on the saw and tilt the saw so it is supported underneath by the saw’s table. You can also lay a little piece of scrap plywood or similar on top and then apply pressure to that with your hand while still staying away from the blade.
Great video and the info is just what I was looking for - thanks👍🇦🇺
How many 45 degree turns did you have? If I use the same method. will I be able to pull the pex straight through with 3 45 degree turns?
You should be fine. I had 2 45 elbows at each end to make the 90 degree turns and then I had two 45 degree elbow along the run. If you really want to be sure, you could run 4” pipe.
Maybe I missed it but you should mention that you need a hammer drill to drill concrete effectively. But great presentation.
2 minutes and 30 seconds exactly. He says you need a hammer drill.....
Absolutely love your videos and detailed instructions. Can you please tell me what stain color (brand and color) you used for that amazing landing? Thanks a million.
Look for Walttools concrete pigment powder on Amazon. I used an equal volume of the bluestone and charcoal pigments mixed in each bag of concrete.
Do your plants seem to be ok? I switched to rubber last year and planted for the first time this year and now I keep reading that it gets too hot and kills plants and that the chemicals leech into the soil and kill plants, but I honestly can’t afford to replace mulch in bulk every year, so I’m hoping I still made the right choice.
After 2 years, my plants are fine. Haven’t had any more die than I have in traditional wood mulch.
I have to admit, use of a bike pump was pretty primitive, but reasonably effective! Thanks for presenting!
