Kmart came to my city in the 70s. Till then Service Merchandise was the hot thing. We equated Kmart with Woolworths. There was much excitement as it opened a few months before Christmas. By the time I became an adult I didn't like Kmart and I didn't know anyone who ever shopped there let alone talked about it. It became relegated to the seedy parts of towns. Never cared for Sears either though that was a good place to go buy a wash machine back in the 90s. People felt a little nostalgic when Sears closed but no one did when Kmart started to go. It was a slow and ugly death.

I do service in this area. It blew my mind that out of every store you would expect out there. (This is a very affluent area and these people wouldn’t be caught dead there.) I would almost expect a while goods or a target. That store sells nothing these people want/buy. The only items I could see are AC units or coolers and last minute food/drinks. Store doesn’t cater to the area it’s in at all.

I'll tell you what. I've had to deal with Walmart for the last four weeks. It's been a nightmare. First I bought a Futon. It came with half the parts to assemble the Futon. As for trying to get someone at Wal-Mart to understand that. I've had to call ten times. They scheduled the Futon to be picked up each time. I waited all those times. Nothing. I actually took it to a local Wal-Mart to return it. Was told they couldn't except it because it didn't come from their store. Don't do business with Wal-mart. It's a nightmare. Wal-Mart is the company that needs to be shut down. They are a joke.

Music tends to play louder in empty environments, no bodies to absorb the sound, and also when there is little carpeting to deaden the noise. What an incredibly well stocked store for a brand on its last legs.

Ownership has destroyed this once mighty chain! Too bad someone with smarts could not have bought the company back in the 2000’s & helped it return to some form of relevance! Who ever has been in charge of buying & pricing showed they lacked any knowledge! Kmart was the highest priced of the big three until they started closing stores! Even online they are ridiculous priced for what junk they have!

This sure brings memories, K-Mart was one of the stores i frequented to when i was a kid all the way to my early adult years. Most of the things i had back then for the most part came from there, from clothing, shoes, cooking utilities to electronics, it was the more affordable option for the families with little money. What i remember from K-Mart the most is the pizza, my parents used to buy me some every now and then, sure it tasted like cardboard and while it wasn't the best neither the worst it was a decent cardboard tasting pizza XD.

I worked at a KMart 40 years ago. I hated every minute of it. The in store music was this annoying muzak that played the songs off Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album non stop. I always felt we were nothing more than a fancier version of a Woolworth store. The shoe section at a KMart was always set up by an independent vendor. That's the reason the shoe section is so sparse in your video. The vendor obviously can't provide much in the way of selection. Your video brings back memories that has me contemplating going to intense therapy. God, how much I hated that place. I thought that monster was dead.

I miss Kmart! My family and I did so much shopping at the Super Kmart in the county seat, and you could find everything you needed there! A lot of the small items in my holiday light display (candy canes, spiral trees, etc.) are from Kmart (it was one of the first places where you could find LED trees, candy canes, and such) and I still have the house curtains and bedsheets we got there! Sadly ours closed down years ago, and the space is now subdivided-it holds a Grocery Outlet, a Boot Barn, and a Hobby Lobby (which moved from its location in the shopping center _across_ the street). RIP Kmart!
