I was born and raised here. I never even saw the beauty all around me until I moved away in my early 20s. I moved back home last year. I love sharing my home with my adult children who grew up in a small city.
I finally got to visit Lake Placid on a very hot day in Aug of 1996.I had met Eric Heiden ( who won his 5 golds in speed skating here in 1980 ) at a bike race in the San Diego area in June of 1980.I was living between LA and San Diego then.I also got to meet Dan Jansen in my home state where I am now at a kids hospital fundraising event.He was just as nice as Eric and I was just as nervous too. :) I walked on that oval and rode half way down the mntn on the bobsled.Great Video!!!!!
Very cool place to explore, I had a friend at Paul Smith college next town over he hdat leave so college could use dorm for visitors, I picked him up brought him back several times and have gone back over the years..I'm in NH .great place, except lake placid is chemically polluted from west coal and other factories

That’s the boarding speed. In northern NY we assume everyone has been on a gondola, chair lift, canoe, kayak, snowmobile, power boat, whatever

You should have checked out the US locker room. You would be amazed how small it is.
