My current dog is a Pomeranian and came from a rescue in Russia he’s a wonderful little guy and I was so lucky to get to adopt him. He got to meet my son’s dog, a pity/boxer mix, who was a puppy at the same time. They are both rescues and despite the size difference they are good friends. All but one of my dogs and all of the cats I’ve loved were rescues. The only dog that wasn’t a rescue was my standard poodle. The friend of my mother’s who owned the purebred parents asked around until she had a number of friends who would take a puppy. So she had homes for all the puppies before she let the parents breed. I have been blessed with wonderful dogs and cats throughout my life!

By patting them when they growl at your dogs, you're telling them that it's ok to growl. The dogs will sort themselves out. Your dogs are fabulous.

Well, I don't think Kobe's barking at nothing. Dogs can hear things we can't, and they can hear things from farther away than we can; just because you don't hear anything, doesn't mean there's nothing to bark about. Furthermore, dogs are protective, of both their pack, and their territory. Kobe may be telling all the other animals that "Hey! This place is taken!" Essentially giving one last warning before he goes to bed for the night
