I felt so sad for Sandy. She was having the time of her life with her new little friend. She was running and playing and clearly enjoying what she believed was her new home for just the two of them. Then suddenly you could see she was suddenly looking like she realized she was just the step child and she shut down. I saw her looking like she was rejected all over again. It's heartbreaking. It has always taken us time with our new rescues. I've always known though, that once I can get them to trust me they will come around and learn to play again.
She wasn't feeling rejected; rejection is too complex an emotion for a dog to register. She was frightened because A) she was in a new place, and B) the first dog is much bigger than her. Then that dog didn't do a good job reading or respecting her social cues, which pushed her further into her shell. The bigger dog was just trying to be friends, bless her heart, but she was quite pushy about it. The second dog has great dog skills--I love how he created space when asked to do so, and even turned his back to demonstrate that he wasn't a threat. Good golden boy. For anyone who may be reading this, it's best to give new dogs two weeks to get used to their new environments before introducing them to resident pets (and scent swap with blankets, toys, etc. over those two weeks); you can see how overwhelmed Sandy was to begin with, and adding new dogs into the mix was just too much for her, which is why she shut down. After the acclimation period, the dogs' first face-to-face meeting should take place A) on neutral turf so that neither dog feels the need to defend "their" space, and B) through a barrier like a gate, so that they can each feel more secure. If they appear to be doing okay through the gate, it can be opened, but both dogs should be dragging leads in case they need to be separated quickly. During this time, owners shouldn't interact with either dog unless absolutely necessary, as human interaction adds an additional stimulus to an already tense situation, and can even prompt jealousy (i.e., resource guarding) from either or both dogs. And on the subject of resource guarding, the dogs shouldn't eat or play with toys together until they've forged a friendship--perhaps never, if they're inclined to guard them. If the acclimation period and first meeting are executed in this manner, the dogs will have a much better chance of getting along. In any case, it seems it turned out okay here, so that's good.
@@iLollerskatethe two week period is what I put new dogs through when I first rescue them. Give them time to adjust to their new surroundings and meal routines before I begin the socialization rehab process. The kennels they're in I tend to separate from the other rescues I had who are socializing, and when the two week period is up, I gather up their blankets and beds to move into a free enclosure with slightly more room that is next to other dogs. This allows them to get introduced to their neighbors for about a week before I introduce them to social play time where I wrangle the mutt montage into a pasture for them all to run around and play in. Afterwards I introduce the dogs to different people I know and start the process of human socialization. Feeding with other dogs to curb food aggression. False grooming sessions to get them used to grooming tools and vacuums. Minor physical disciplining (essentially putting dogs into vulnerable submissive positions when they act aggressive, no hitting or slapping). And after the dogs show signs of progress, I begin rehoming by putting them up for adoption in flyers, internet posts, and word of mouth. Completely transforms the dogs from frightened aggroed biters into loveable and eager babies. And I ensure they went to the right families and not to someone who's just gonna dump them off again. My solo operation went on for a few good long years before food became expensive.
Yeah and that is very understandable because just put yourself in her place and you would be the same way I only had one rescue as a kid and when he got home he was very excited with me but scared of everything else (he was a pitbull) and it took him about a year to get comfortable enough to bark at anyone (we believed he was abused before we got him) he would even cower Everytime my parents grabbed a broom to clean something but he was my best friend and brother and would sleep with me every night then we got another dog (who was born a few weeks earlier since someone on Facebook was selling their dog's puppies) and he treated her like he did with my little sister when she came home. And that was looking at us like "hey this thing isn't permanent right" but after a bit he came around and was great with her
Okay can we just talk about how Kobe laid near them, gave them their space but also turned his back to show he’s not a threat. We didn’t teach him that, it came to him naturally 😭
All good in the end, however, When a Doberman froths at the mouth it is a bad sign. Anxiety, heat exhaustion, something they ate upsetting their stomach. In this case probably anxious anxiety. Should have removed him until he calmed down. Or cooled down.

I had a wonderful border collie dog as sensitive as Kobe. One day we were going for a walk and a lady with a spaniel was coming the other way. She said that she wouldn’t be able to walk past us because her dog was so frightened of other dogs. I didn’t tell my dog what to do because I knew he knew better than me! My dog turned sideways and sniffed the ground but the other dog still wouldn’t pass so my dog lay down and the other dog trotted by happily. My wonderful dog died last year and I am still crying over him.
As for all the comments regarding "don't do this, do that", animals especially rescued ones are very unpredictable and varies from one to the other. There is no one way of dealing with a situation like this. You try one and if it doesn't work you try the next, over time you get a feeling of which ones work best for you. They got the basics right like introducing them to the home before the dogs and then introduced one dog at a time. I would have the first introduction away from the home, so that there's no territorial aggression involved, but that's my personal preference from the dachshunds we've fostered, since they're very protective of their homes. Well done for taking on some pups in need. No better love that the love from the rescued pup :-)
The most valuable advice is that you let them get used to their new environment for a few days. Then start slowly ramping up interaction at a pace that works best for the animal
Exactly! While one method might’ve worked for a certain rescue animal it doesn’t mean it’ll work with all rescues, plus depending on the animal or animals the rescues are being introduced to then the way you introduce them may be different, especially like how you said your dogs were territorial so it was done on mutual ground to avoid territorial aggression. Some pets may not be territorial or have been trained to actually help rescues get used to their new surroundings and that they’ll be living with the animals that already live there.
Poor little pups. Amazing to see their transformation early on, being totally terrified, to relatively comfortable around you. Looking forward to the next video to see how they bond with your two ❤
Once we had two dogs show up at our house, they had escaped from their owner’s back yard. I spent a good part of the afternoon and an entire tri tip roast trying to get them into my fenced yard, hoping to get them in a safe place so I could start looking for their owners. They gobbled up all the roast beef, but nothing worked trying to corral them to the yard, every time I got too close, they would run away. As a last attempt, I brought my own dog out on a leash, let them get acquainted, and then walked my dog into the back yard, and both of the dogs followed immediately. They didn’t trust me, but felt secure with my dog. Sometimes another well adjusted happy dog is all you need!
They really became calm around your Mom! They loved her energy. Dogs are so sensitive to energy. They love older, calm, kind people. You guys are so kind and caring. 💚
Yes ! There is a good ways for all wonderful animals to understanding is the proper of with your hands and also one word or only two words at times ... good boy ...lay down .
Hi, we foster abused dogs, so a very similar situation to yourselves. Firstly, I am thankful for you taking on this responsibility, not everyone can do it. What I would suggest for the next time, when introducing the fosters to your own dogs, put up a baby gate in a door way, have your dogs on one side and the fosters on the other. You know how your dogs will react to the situation, the fosters being honest, you have no idea, it's safer for all involved to have a physical barrier. The gate also allows the fosters to back away, don't worry, if they do, it's all part of the getting to know each other phase.
I assume you have to be careful to how the foster react to a gate. Don't some dogs become very protective at gates? I could imagine for some it puts them into defender mode and could increase aggression.
@@nostalji93 Yeah, a leash and barriers are not great ideas for a first encounter. Unless the rescue is very obviously aggressive and of a potentially dangerous race (one that can deal damage not like tiny pickle lol) I don't see the point.
I feel so badly for them. Also feel dumb for the fact that I thought Pickle was a skinny cat 😅🤦♀️ Y’all are such good people for taking them in and caring for them
I love the empathy they are showing the dogs. There are so many animals that go thru horrendous things. God bless the good humans that protect and care for them.
Honestly I think your dogs handled that really well. Sometimes they got too curious for the puppies' comfort but they knew when to back off and how to give space. That's so necessary for dogs meeting other dogs with trauma. Obviously this is very dangerous and can backfire massively but I think you guys handled this really well, making sure the dogs didn't overwhelm the puppies too much. I reckon it definitely helped having them sniff the bedding and blankets of the other dogs so they had an idea of the other dogs too. That's so incredibly important when introducing any animal to another. My only bit of advice is to not let your dogs approach a cornered animal, like when Sandy moved towards the corner and Moki came up to sniff her. That can cause a lot of tension if she decided in that moment to run instead of grumble or snap. Other than that this was amazing work and I love how attentive you were to the puppies body language and fear!
Of course they loved getting clean. It's exactly the same as for humans but worse. If ya feel grimey and dirty ya ain't gonna feel well at all. Bless them
I'm crying! This was just the sweetest video. Bless you for rescuing those precious puppies. It makes me so furious that people abandon or neglect animals. Puppies and dogs are 100% love and loyalty and they deserve the same in return. Pickle and Sandy were so scared and shut down and you guys and your beautiful dogs gave them love, hope and safety. You are angels on earth. Your lovely Mum seems like an animal lover, too. Hooray!

You are doing a great job rescuing dogs and I truly thank you for it. Please try walking all of the dogs outside of the house when they meet as it’s neutral territory and then all come home together. I’ve seen it work with a lady who I know who also does dog rescue. It would save you a bit of stress for your dogs and the ones you are rescuing. I loved the end of the video and you have two wonderful dogs. Hugs and kisses to them please and to your rescues as they can’t be left out. May you all please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
They smell because they have never have a family or a bath, and they poop because they are so scared, they don't know what's going to happen to them!!! Thanks for saving them ❤❤
I like how someone can be so oblivious to dogs cowering and tail tucking in the shower and say "they enjoyed it". This is what we call job security in the dog training world. People missing crystal clear signals.
That’s only cause they’re still getting used to their new home. You can see that in the video until they open up and feel safe. They have their tail in between their legs.
I've always said the Dogs are Angels ..... Just imagine the choirs of Angels rejoicing when people rescue others of their kind. These two in particular are amazing, as are their humans. Thank you Coby and Mikka 🤍🌹
I absolutely love watching your videos. You're both so gifted with dogs and you provide such an important link in these dog's journey to a wonderful home.
It seems like they really enjoyed getting clean! They may not have liked the shower at the time, but they definitely perked up afterward when they were clean and dry.
I'm actually really grateful she was left in a carrier near in a rescue instead of what so many people do, which is just abandon them any old place, in a carrier or not. I'm really thankful for Pickle they left her near a rescue.
Thank you so much for rescuing Sandy & Pickle! I'm sure with a little time, they'll all become one beautiful pack of dogs!! THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE YOU GET FROM YOUR DOGS IS IRREPLACEABLE!!💯👆🐾🐕🐾🐶🐕🐾🐶💞👌💩🤣🌟
My dog loves other dogs. She gets so happy and excited at the dog park she foams at the mouth. She loves to make friends but will back off if a dog is stressed or unfriendly.
Let's do our best to raise the amount of subscribers for these two wonderful humans!! Sorry about the car accident, but I feel it is because it must have been an upheaval to leave home and then travel into the unknown. They will be great now they are with you. God Bless and much love from Cyprus. 🐶🐶🤗🤗🙏🙏🌹🌹The Rose is for your Mum!
You guys do a brilliant job with these sweet pups..the stinkier side no doubt not so much fun! 😬 So lovely to see them thrive thanks to your love and care ❤
What I would do for any nervous dog is to lay on the floor with them, while giving treats. Laying down helps them to begin to calm down as it's completely opposite to seeming a threat. And the bath/shower as soon as they come home was obviously necessary due to their little poop accidents, but it also helps a dog to begin to feel that you're more like a parent. Such a great video, well done you guys.
Wonderful. Looking forward to the next video. I’m wondering why Moki was salivating so. Is that a sign of stress? If Moki was stressed, will the little dogs have picked up on that, making them a little more cautious with Moki?
I have a few personal sayings (or mantras if you will) I've distilled over 50 years. 1 of them is: Dogs are the best thing on the planet. We are super lucky to have them.
3:48 if your Doberman froths at the mouth or any non drooling dog, it is a bad sign. Anxiety, heat exhaustion, Should have removed him until he calmed down. Or cooled down.
@@DavidAndTheDog Heat of the moment so to speak, they seem to genuinely care, so probably were not aware. I volunteered animal rescue for about 10 years. I also did not look close enough. (She) was over stimulated. 😁🙏
Remember, Moki is their dog. They know her inside out and have worked with her to successfully rehabilitate a number of dogs now. It looks like it was a hot day, she'd not long had a walk, they recognised what she was asking for (Ella says she wants to go in at one point) and the video is significantly edited - so, for all we know, there was a "time out" that wasn't included for brevity. Totally understand sharing information and helping people do right by their dogs, that's commendable, but there are ways of doing that respectfully. Let's not tell competent handlers what they're "doing wrong", based on nothing more than an edited video, eh? 👍

They smell because they have never have a family or a bath, and they poop because they are so scared, they don't know what's going to happen to them!!! Thanks for saving them ❤❤
You’re mom is lovely😄thanks for sharing
I like how someone can be so oblivious to dogs cowering and tail tucking in the shower and say "they enjoyed it". This is what we call job security in the dog training world. People missing crystal clear signals.
That’s only cause they’re still getting used to their new home. You can see that in the video until they open up and feel safe. They have their tail in between their legs.
I've always said the Dogs are Angels ..... Just imagine the choirs of Angels rejoicing when people rescue others of their kind. These two in particular are amazing, as are their humans. Thank you Coby and Mikka 🤍🌹
You are fantastic people
I love you guys for how kind and gentle you are with the animals.
I love Kobe and moki and I hope the dogs do good
You guys are growing so much! keep up the good work guys
5:23 classic "play bow" by your big dog. Easing the tension. Trying to relax the new guy. Very impressive.
Time is what is needed!
God bless both of you, you are too exemplary Human beings God will reward you for this. Best wishes to build a view and good lu🇮🇪ck💚💚💚💚 from Ireland

I absolutely love watching your videos. You're both so gifted with dogs and you provide such an important link in these dog's journey to a wonderful home.
What wonderful people.
Again you impress me . Keep up the good work . THANK YOU .
The way they loved the bath was so cute. Couple of water dogs, there. 😂 Pickle is so sassy and Sandy is a zoomie girl. Look at her go! Nyoom!
Thanks so much !! they are so happy !!! what a joy to watch 🤩
Thankyou, you beautiful souls, for doing the wonderful work you do. It is truly heart-warming. x
You guys are so amazing and Kobe is one of a kind sweet dog.
It's wild the lives your two dogs have. I like to imagine them speculating about what transients are going to show up next.
They are rescue therapy dogs. 😂
It seems like they really enjoyed getting clean!
They may not have liked the shower at the time, but they definitely perked up afterward when they were clean and dry.
Playful barking from goldy, chill. ❤
Thank you for giving them a loving home ❤️
Those two doggies are so nervous, but with your help they will get better..❤
I'm actually really grateful she was left in a carrier near in a rescue instead of what so many people do, which is just abandon them any old place, in a carrier or not. I'm really thankful for Pickle they left her near a rescue.
You two are amazing!
So cute!!

The boss music when introducing Mochi to the rescues was ironically hilarious. Thanks for helping them out!
Amazing people thank you for rescuing these two🫶🐾
Thank you for all you do for these precios fur babies
My dog loves other dogs. She gets so happy and excited at the dog park she foams at the mouth. She loves to make friends but will back off if a dog is stressed or unfriendly.
Thank you xx
Let's do our best to raise the amount of subscribers for these two wonderful humans!! Sorry about the car accident, but I feel it is because it must have been an upheaval to leave home and then travel into the unknown. They will be great now they are with you. God Bless and much love from Cyprus. 🐶🐶🤗🤗🙏🙏🌹🌹The Rose is for your Mum!
Ah the poor things, they are terrified but they will get over it cause u guys r good decent people with so much patience and love for dogs
So sad seeing Sandy sitting on his own, can't wait to see the transformation.

What a
wonderful video! God bless you for rescuing these
Precious little angels. ❤😍❤❤❤❤❤
You guys do a brilliant job with these sweet pups..the stinkier side no doubt not so much fun! 😬 So lovely to see them thrive thanks to your love and care ❤
Love the rescue videos, only stumbled across the channel a few days ago, forgot to sub but just have now so make sure the dogs get their treat 😊
You’re the best!
3 awww sooo cute I would like to adopt one
They just need some Golden love! ❤
Your house environment set perfect for dogs. They can run outdoor peeping and doodles (poop). ❤ Thank you for loving them.
Lovely video, a pleasure to watch!
Thank you all dogs are
Special beautiful need a
HOME 🏠 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Wonderful. Looking forward to the next video. I’m wondering why Moki was salivating so. Is that a sign of stress? If Moki was stressed, will the little dogs have picked up on that, making them a little more cautious with Moki?
Wow, great job!❤
Sandy is so happy in her new home
I have a few personal sayings (or mantras if you will) I've distilled over 50 years. 1 of them is:
Dogs are the best thing on the planet.
We are super lucky to have them.
3:48 if your Doberman froths at the mouth or any non drooling dog, it is a bad sign. Anxiety, heat exhaustion, Should have removed him until he calmed down. Or cooled down.
Yes, I also felt quite uncomfortable seeing that. I think you’re right.
@@t-and-p LMAO! How exactly did you construe disrespect from that simple straight forward non insulting comment? Now if I had said these forking mo@r@@@ns have SHHH-for-brains for keeping their dog who was frothing from the mouth in the presence of strange dogs for more than a few minutes, and should have removed her the very second she started frothing from the mouth as it began to manifest AFTER the dogs were in each others presence, AFTER they said the Doberman had rested form the walk. As a stupid person with no logical perception, you would miss that tidbit. NOT FROM an over exertion, but clearly from stress since she was not frothing when they brought her in, and any ID!!! would know if a dog is over heated, they froth during the event, not AFTER they return and rested in another part of the house, and only started frothing after being rejected as the LADY EXCLAIMED in surprise. And then stupid people start trying to defend an imagined slight in a very condensing foolhardy passive aggressive BS reply. Now see that is mean approach. If you withdraw your head from your nether region long enough you may notice the difference. So lets not tell a person who performed animal rescue for more than a decade how to comment on a very obvious situation. EH? PS jackanape I have nothing against them, KUDOS for their rescue efforts, just thought a F^##**&6 SHHH for-brains like yourself should see a sample of a negative comment since you can’t tell the difference.. Cheers. 😁
