    Coming to this two years later but very well done. I have an “01 C2 and had it since new but always edged away from a short shifter. However, recent research about the Numeric kit suggests that it's in a different league as far as SSKs are concerned. It appears you are using existing cables (not Numeric’s) but that there was a SSK already in your car. Do you know if your shifter cables were standard or themselves upgraded at some point? Also, I’ve read a bit about Numeric’s shifter cables being noisy? Any knowledge or experience with that? Again, many thanks. Incredibly useful video.

    • @RevivedAndDriven
      @RevivedAndDriven 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Greetings Marcus, I want to express my gratitude for taking the time to watch and share your thoughts; your engagement truly enhances the video experience. It's admirable that you've maintained your C2 since its inception; it has undoubtedly become a cherished member of your family. 😊 The Numeric Shifter is undeniably a crucial addition! I considered leaving the centre console off post-installation; the aesthetic improvement is unmistakable and the Bolt-action gear change addictive. Porsche underwent a phase of streamlining and cost-cutting in collaboration with the Japanese during the inception of the 996. Consequently, while the design remained commendable, the materials used, particularly on the Shifter box, did not meet the traditional Porsche standards. I chose to stick with the standard cables on mine; they required no adjustments whatsoever. The Numeric cables, although superior, come with a hefty price tag and pose a greater challenge during installation. Additionally, I've encountered reports suggesting they may produce noise; however, I understand they offer protective sleeves to address this issue. Currently, I'm not inclined towards this option, but if I encounter any cable-related issues in the future, I may reconsider investing in Numeric cables. Thank you once again, and take care. 🙏🏼

      Hi, thank you, I really appreciate the feedback! First drive there's a noticeable difference on acceleration but it seemed to subside after a few drives, probably once the MAF recalculated the Air/Fuel ratio. I toyed with the idea of switching back to the 997.1 unit but the sound of the Fabspeed is intoxicating and it looks the nuts no doubt! 😀

    Very nice video! I had watched a couple others before this one and they were not even close in the quality. One I viewed they replaced the cables as well. Is this recommended and does it compliment the Numeric shifter? If not, it sure makes the job seem a lot simpler.

    • @RevivedAndDriven
      @RevivedAndDriven 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the kind complements, I really appreciate it! 🙏🏼 The cables are an option, but then the car has to be on a ramp to allow removal from the transmission selector. I have no doubt they would complement the Shifter however, they are not cheap.

Millions of pounds worth of development all done for you by Porsche, but you know better, yeah right. These kits are for people who are basically tarts. If the sound is all that's important to you then fine but you're robbing power from the engine. Return the fab speed kit as it is a joke. Best looking? To who? Great video mate looking forward to more E46 M3 content. Iv bought a cabriolet a few months ago after having 5 myself in fact I started my channel with a E46 M3 so I definitely got a soft spot for them myn needs a good clean too and a little bit of a restoration too with the rust on the wings and mirrors.

    I really like that rear wing. Do you have any information on it? Does the original spoiler still rise or has it been disabled?

    Just curious to know why you went for the FVDs ? These are made by M&M for FVD if I am not wrong. I am considering a few - Kline, Cargraphics and FVD. P.S. Sweet car by the way. These wide body 996s are starting to get real collectible.

    • @RevivedAndDriven
      @RevivedAndDriven 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bob, firstly, thank you for watching, I truly appreciate your support! You are 100% correct, M&M produce most of the FVD exhaust systems. I did weeks of research, considered Kline and Cargraphics as options but decided on the FVD due to a number of factors; Both Kline and CG worked out way more expensive, specially CG and also, the collaboration between FVD and M&M. FVD have 25 years experience in building Porsche engines, which was their core business before expanding to parts retail and, the fact that M&M produce exhausts for a good number of Porsche race teams.

      @@RevivedAndDriven Any issues with droning? I have a 997.2 C2S that I am considering these for.

    • @RevivedAndDriven
      @RevivedAndDriven 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely no drone, even with valves open!! That was another point which I forgot to mention ; this is in the product description, which was a massive plus, and I get some subtle pops on a downsift at low revs, which is nice😊

      @@RevivedAndDriven I am considering the FVDs as well. They work out to be cheaper than Kline but I have a local dealer I can order from, which to me seem much better. Not sure about CG though. Just working to get the car up to speed at the moment as there a few more critical maintenance jobs to do before I can get to upgrading the performance- water pump, drive belt, pulley, tensioner, thermostat, and spark plugs.

    • @RevivedAndDriven
      @RevivedAndDriven 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good idea! There's no point doing any performance related upgrades if the car isn't reliable. I spent £15k on mine before any upgrades; it started with a full service and spiralled into engine coming out to change coolant pipes, IMS, Clutch & Flywheel, suspension components blah blah blah.....You certainly can't go wrong with the FVD, I don't regret it one bit. It's also wise to use a local importer as I found out the hard way! I imported it myself which cost me £681 in import duty and VAT 🙄
