Thank you for this! Right after watching it, I ran into this problem with more than one station at the same time. I didn't even realize I could expand them. Much better now, though I can't keep trucks from entering and leaving wherever they want, even after assigning platforms.
What about using trigonometry in order to calculate the legs of a right triangle whose hypotenuse is equal to the length of one of the sides of the hexagon? If you have that, then you can draw out a rectangle of guide roads, mark off the meeting points of the diagonals using small guide road segments, construct a perfect hexagon, and then delete the guide roads after. Additionally, you can write down the dimensions of the rectangle which encompasses the hexagon and re-draw it repeatedly.

in line manager set your truckstop to use multiple platforms, any free platform will be used and you have no buildup of trucks, you can also get away with less platforms. I also make the platforms longer.
I think where your problems started was with the bus routes servicing the train stations. You probably should've built one depot midway between the 2 towns and one route in each town. Would've saved money in construction costs and monthly upkeep.
Builds oil line running right past a refinery and then heads almost to the other side of the map increasing costs massively.(yes I am aware this was 3 years ago but no-one called him out on it)

In medium is easy to make money, I don't feel need of tutorial to start in medium

"I made a lot of money just with the railway, earning around 50-100 million dollars in 1-2 years... but when I built an airport and bought a Boeing plane, I could only make around 30-40 million dollars in 6-8 years. That is not how you use the cargo station. The correct way is to place the cargo station with cargo ramps parallel to the road !

@@danielmethner6847 Both cargo and passenger stops can be longer. I play this with a long one, about 100M, and positioned parallel to the street. One way in and one way out, multiple entries and exits if more than one line, with one way roads connection the entries and exits. Thay way, I never have road blocks like the one in the clip and I have way more room inside the station, for both the trucks and cargo/pople. Not to mention the mingling that happens at the end inside the station in this video :) .

i'm having a problem with my train lines i put a double line in on a short line and put another rail on the station. But i cant get the one station to pick the platform i want. the one side is no problem but the othe one is grayed out where you chose what platform to enter.
I've never really played for good Transport Fever, but I would really like it's developer to release a version of the game focused on managing cities. They already have everything for this.And we, more than ever, especially given the failure that was CS2, need fierce competition in the genre.

The dream game I want most would have the highway system of Cities: Skylines, the graphics and railway signals of Transport Fever, the railway system, facilities, and timetables of A-Train, and the supply, demand, transportation, and realistic mode of Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic. However, it feels a bit too extravagant.
My problem is that I got sooo many trains coming in and I don't know why ... the cargo terminals can't handle the trains fast enough and they are bunching up on the tracks making big ups to intersections and keep gridlocking
Use multiple terminals for the same line. You can set alternative terminals so one line can use multi terminals

Excellent explanation! I'm only a couple of months into this game. Truck stops were driving me nuts. I thought my vehicles all had OCD until you explained the ccw and rh loading. Thanks a lot!

If you play with mods I would recommend Broken Node Detector's 'Detect Stuck Pedestrians' function; it might seriously free up some processor space and fix your FPS problem, or at least improve it.

The title of the video is just a figure of speech. I don't think you can actually crash 2 trains in to each other or derail or crash a train in to an object.
The “You need a second runway” text is to show that you cant place a taxiway without another runway. NOT you need a 2nd runway
Hot take: Transport Fever 2 is the best city builder, even though it isn't. It's a Transport Tycoon.
2:04 The game does net tell you you need a second runway! It only says in order te create a 2nd taxi lane you need a 2nd runway! :)
Is it cheaper to to keep maintenance at normal and replace the vehicles vs having higher maintenance that cost 25% of income

a bit of an exploit, but know that steelmills will accept 400 iron and 400 coal at any time, even when they're not producing steel... so what I do is find two steelmills and link up iron to one, coal to the other... close distance, with carts... and the two I connect with a roalline... this line will have a steady volume of coal in one and iron in the other direction, about 200... full trains in two directions... then add coal to the first from closer by and iron to the other and the volume will become a mix of iron and coal of about 400 in both directions... if you add a third steel mill and connect the second to the third, and link up closeby iron and coal to that one too, there will be 530 in both directions on both the connector line from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3... each coal mine wants to send 133 to each steel mill...
Truck stations play a way too big role in this game for me. Each industry should have it's own truck stations inside, each cargo railway stations should have a truck station. The only place where you should be forced to use a truck station is if you want a central HUB for redistribution.

The "You need a second runway" is there because you can't add a taxiway unless you have the second runway.

Thanks there is a depot mod that gives you up to 8 platform road depot to just plonk down on steam.

1850 starts are, by nature, HARD, especially if you don't have a lot of rivers to move cargo by boat. I would suggest you either wade through the campaign--which will teach you how to find and use all the info you'll need--or, start your first Free game mid-1900's or later. And make sure you have enough navigable waters to float your cargo.

Would love to see a hexagonal grid instead of just one big hexagon. If you split each grid hexagon into three rhombus you can make every other vertices a pedestrian only street.
Very helpful and neat. But what happens if the trucks are queuing to gain access to the platform to pick up goods/ My biggest problem is that trucks queing for platform X block access for trucks trying to reach platform Y. Ideally what I'd like is a separate entrance and exit for each platform but I can;t seem to make that happen.
Not sure how to accomplish that in one truck station. You could create two separate truck stations, one for X and one for Y. That would completely separate the truck movements
It could be done through waypoints, though I'm not sure if waypoints work on a truck station itself
I tried to play both from scratch but cities skylines never got me hooked but TF2 did and boy did it EVER... I love TF2 so much better... I probably should give CS2 another try but TF2 wins in my opinion due to 4 years of constant refinement... I played it in 2023 October 1st time so whatever bugs it has in TF1, then TF2 improvement, then 3 years of bug fixes... that's how I came in. TF2 had some early frustrating moments, like trying to figure out signals and train tracks and directions, each question i focused and try to solve it, then keep moving on to the next... and next... all these network logic, you figure out slowly over time... you learn to optimize rail... rail station... tracks... bus, bus stops, trucks.... then when cities grows to gigantic sizes... you then start to get into airplanes and airstrips and airports... wow, just watching the A380 airbus take off and ride it in the first person... or right the train in 1st person through the $12m bridge you invest so much money on... i LOVE TF2!
