Drinking alcohol on Methotrexate, here's my experience
After being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in April 2023 I was prescribed methotexate to be taken weekly, 20mg dose. While taking methotraxate you are advised to limit alcohol consumption if not stop altogether as methotrexate can potentially be a toxic substance and influence the liver's capabilities of being able to detoxify sufficiently. In this video I give an insight into my experience drinking alcohol while taking methotrexate. Please follow the advice of your healthcare professional at all times.

I hope from sharing these videos and my experiences I'm able to help people along their own journey and make it somewhat easier (if that's possible) as I talk about things such as:
* How to stop feeling depressed
* My experience with mental health
* How to stop feeling anxious
* How to improve your mental health
* My journey through life
* How to take action
* How to be happier in life
* How to build a strong mind

    I'm on 10mg methotrexate weekly mainly for psoriasis, and its working brilliantly. I do still like to have a drink though, I've been having a few beers once a fortnight, away from dose day that is. Bloods have been fine so far. How have you been getting on with regards to that? I watched your methotrexate video about drinking, but i think you posted that some months ago. Cheers!

      I’ve drunk a reasonable amount over various occasions since I made that video a year ago but I might make a new one and go into more detail! I think what’s important is you monitor it and make sure you stay to tondate with your blood tests. Ideally you shouldn’t drink really but it’s about finding the il right balance for yourself

    Thanks for the one year update Oscar :) I've been on MTX at 22.5 mg for a year now. Fortunately I have no side effects from it, which is fabulous. It has definitely helped with my fingers and knees, but not really the bottoms of my feet. I still have strange sensations on the metatarsal heads of both feet, so standing and walking are a bit annoying. I wouldn't say painful, but definitely some erosion and nerve damage going on down there. I am very concerned about the future and continued erosion so I am keen to start on Humira this month. I've had discussions with my Rheumatologist and he concurs with the plan. I'm not sure if what's going on with my feet is caused by autoimmune arthritis or osteoarthritis, and for some reason I can't get anyone to take a look at the issue with ultrasound or anything other than x-rays. However, my fingers and knees are much, much better, but still not totally right. Kneeling for me is still a bit of a struggle. I'm not complaining though as I'm able to get around and there are many people in worse situations. I feel I'm on the right track, but keep needing to work towards being my own advocate. Great seeing you in such good shape; it provides a great deal of hope for us! Thanks again for taking us along on your journey. Cheers mate!!

    Hi, I have a similar condition, though I'm still figuring out whether it's psoriatic arthritis or spondyloarthritis. I've been on methotrexate for almost two months now, but I haven't really felt its effects yet. I'm hoping it kicks in soon and that it will be enough to manage my condition. I used to be very athletic, and I'm eager to get back to pushing myself to the limit. I wanted to ask if you've made any changes to your diet or if you still indulge in junk food, a beer, or some alcohol on weekends? I've been trying to stick to a healthy diet, and it's helped to some extent, but it's not enough on its own. I'm really glad to hear you're pain-free because I know what that means. Greetings from Italy!

    • @liftingoutofthelows1341
      @liftingoutofthelows1341 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I did make changes to my diet and I noticed certain things help like you mentioned but didn’t resolve the issue. 2 things I noticed definitely increased stiffness were sugar and alcohol though since the humira these things don’t make that much difference as in in full remission but when I was just taking MTX if I had a few days of drinking a lot like while I was on holiday I would return and feel more stiffness. I don’t really eat junk food in general but I still drink a bit now. The MTX took about 3 months to take effect so stay positive with it. I have other videos about my methotrexate experiences if you want to watch them they may give you more details and insight. I wish you well and hope you find resolve with it all!

    My personal advice would be to not completely come off mtx. Perhaps eventually with time taper it down to max 10mg/week. Last thing you want is for Humira to not work anymore prematurely. Adding mtx to Humira reduces immunogenicity, and prolonged co-medication is associated with long-term maintenance of adalimumab. Last thing you want right now, since you're in remission , is to go back to step one, and then try to find another biologic that will be effective. You want to be as long as possible on the same biologic. God bless you and I'm glad you are feeling great!

    Did you have any issue with liver enzymes? And after how long humira gave you the maximum? I am using it for 3 months and I am on 90% recover which is for me enough to be happy, but hearing you running and training hard I start to wonder should I complain and maybe other biologics would give me 100% relief. I can’t run for example

      I go into more detail about blood tests and liver enzymes in this video > th-cam.com/video/dORQHAREmVk/w-d-xo.html I can't comment on your recovery so far. I would think if you can't run then that doesn't represent you've had a 90% recovery? I noticed a clear difference after 1 month but everyone is different. Speak to your medical professional in that regards I would say. Stay well!

      It’s a hard one. For me you just have to accept it and remember it will pass, nothing last forever. Until then just keep training and doing positive stuff so by the time it passes you’re in a better place than when it begun

    Hi... I watched your video on SSRI's because my husband takes Prozac. I checked out your channel and found that you also have arthritis. I have rheumatoid arthritis. I take herbs and supplements because pharmaceuticals are not something I want in my body. I haven't watched your arthritis videos, so I don't know if your meds are working in that area. If they aren't working, then the following herbs and supplements work. 1/4 tsp Glucosamine Sulfate 1/4 tsp Chondroitin Sulfate 1/4 tsp Hyaluronic Acid Protein Powder or Bone Broth Powder and or 1.5 tsp Bovine Gelatin 1.5 tsp MSM 1/4 tsp Magnesium Malate 1/4 tsp Turmeric 1/4 tsp Milk Thistle I buy these herbs and supplements in bulk powders, but you can probably buy pills. Anyways, I am concerned for you spiritually and would suggest and hope that you might watch my video trailer on my channel about my personal testimony, which I hope and pray may enlightening you. 💓

    I have also been diagnosed with cyclothymia and often overthink, just like you. I would add that my overthinking varies depending on the episode. During depressive episodes, I often revisit the past and overanalyze what happened back then. This usually leads to self-criticism and a decline in self-esteem. During hypomanic episodes, I overthink about the future. I constantly plan and re-plan upcoming meetings, conversations, my movements, and facial expressions.

    Thank you for the candid review. I have PsA and removed myself from Biologic treatment about 10 months ago and experienced my first flare. So will give this book a go and see how I can get myself back on track with my diet. I have adjusted my diet to reduce dairy, red meats, gluten and I can say it definitely works!

      My pleasure, I’m glad you got some value from the review. I’m glad you’re finding some relief with dietary changes. If you don’t mind me asking why did you stop taking biologics?

    Looking good mate and glad you're feeling well. Pretty much the same story here since taking Humira starting April this year - pain completely gone, dry skin gone, lifting heavier than ever and sleeping better, more mobile, everything improved. Complete wonder drug and life changer for me. Stay well and thanks for your updates.

    Thank you for your informative video. I worked out too and thought it had something to do with that. I was having pain even on the days i didn't work out. I was just diagnosed yesterday with psoriatic arthritis. It took awhile for this diagnosis, but now i can make lifestyle changes and meds to help.
