Classic Cars are my passion, my Barn Find Porsche 911 restoration is the first in what i hope will become a series. Ive been inspired by TV programs Wheeler Dealer, Car SOS, Flipping Bangers and course Top Gear. There are so many great TH-cam channels like AutoAlex, Ratarossa, Harrys Garage, Number27, The Late Brake Show, Tyrells's Classic Workshop and so many more. I hope you enjoy my effort at making this happen.

Just discovered your channel here in St. Louis, MO...enjoying your videos. I have an 03 Z4 with the 2.5i. How in the world did you get the convertible top motor out of that compartment? Looks like you might have pried it out with a screwdriver?? I think my motor is working properly, but I'm definitely leaking hydraulic fluid so I'm not sure what to do. I'll keep plugging away at it.
Yes its ver tricky and does come down to force, there are some cable ties that need clipping and then just pull it hard!! Thanks for watching
For the fuel lines put electrical tape over the braid before cutting then put the fittings on
I did do that but still struggled, got the hang of it in thge end though, Thanks for watching
Great videos 👍
Thanks for watching
amazing video! straight to the point!!
Thanks for the compliment and thanks for watching

Nice collection. Love the S Class
Thanks for watching, the S gets the most affection when out and about
What headlights did you install?
I got them off ebay, www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400815371352?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=1dq9HZNARte&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=f6hjmjomTB6&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
This is so nineteen sixty five. I tweak my reality every night in my sleep. We need a video for this? Pfft
Great, i think
Thanks
Good job buddy 🙌
Wow, thanks, that’s really kind. Thanks for the support
Sniff my diff 😜
Trust me, you can never be too geeky well worth the wait. Can't wait for the next episode. I was mechanic for Paul Grimer back in the day we used Salisbury diffs. It was my job to change them if conditions changed good fun laid on your back in a muddy puddle 😂 but I could do it in less than 10 minutes. I'm very interested to see how things have moved on now, keep up the good work!!
Fantastic, yes my Dads mechanic Barry Harris used to be super fast on the diff changes i believe.
@ I remember your dad well, on his day he was one of the very best around👍
Can we have a running total of cost ?
Possibly, if i can face it LOL
@blandsbarn just round it up to the nearest thousand 😭
Thanks Shane 😎👍👍👍
Thanks for watching
Thank you great explanation and new build BB 😎👍👍👍
Thanks for watching
Good video Shane, I am a mechanic for NHR 275, I thought Saturday night went very well for you, did you enjoy it?
Yes, it was fantastic, couldnt have asked for a better return.
Interesting to know about the different diffs 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
At last, someone explained the different kinds of lsd that was easy to understand. Thank you. Would be great in the future if you could talk through building one of those diffs! Keep them coming!!
Ill see what i can do
Well worth the wait, thank you Shane. Roll on part 3
Thanks for watching
I bought a 3l e85 z4 for cheap (spent a bit restoring it), and I get what you mean with the trim under the handbrake. Thats just a coin tray for most people, which will get scratched at it appears to be painted plastic. I'm not keen on the carbon stickers, but those don't look too bad, but I'd rather not. I'll probably wind up getting the gear stick gator and steeringwheel re-trimmed and swap out /re-trim the seats. It is a fun car to drive, there is no denying that, but the gold wheels and the grills look ricey af:)
Yeah, the carbon look is defo not everyone's taste, normally not mine but seems to work well anyway. Thanks for watching
Just looked at some photos from Ipswich the front of the all black car with no writing on looks scary especially in someone's rear view mirror
Ha ha, will have a bit more on it for next round but still very stealth! New episode will come out later today. Thanks for watching
Waiting for the next installment 😊
Thanks for watching, next episode out later today.
Seen a picture of the new car on nhrracing, when is the video coming on TH-cam?
Next week or so, just havent had the time but have plenty of footage to go through so should be fine
How much did the paint works end up costing you?
Ill come back to you on that, circa £3K which sounds crazy expensive but its such a rare talent these days i think its a fair price
No better feeling than finally fixing the roof I've been there a few times 😅
Yeah, agreed, thanks for watching
I've followed your video blog since you started Shane, and enjoyed it. Your return to NHRs was a surprise. This build is going to give a great insight into the cars. Really looking forward to it. I'll probably be at track for your return. Good luck #42
Thanks Andy, see you soon, more videos to follow with plenty of detail on how it all works behind the scene.
Hi Shane I raced 1600 in the late 80 to 90 good luck with your project and good luck for qali for world next year
Thanks, ill give it my best
This is more like it, proper race car fabrication and set up without internet drama/popularity contest. Thanks for sharing. Brilliant.
Thanks for watching
Keep the video's on this coming! Hi from Tipperary Raceway in Ireland.
Thanks for watching, i'll hopefully come over next year
Nice one Shane - welcome back.
Thanks
Would be good to reveal the true cost of national hotrod racing as some people have no clue to what you guys are financially committing to a hobby plus what you have saved doing it yourself 👍
Ok will probably do that if i can pluck up the courage to add it all up!!
@@blandsbarn you can make the figures wife friendly 😉
Good Luck Shane. Think I have guessed what colour the car will be already
Yes, normal colour!! Thanks for watching
@@blandsbarn Best of luck to you and the team. When and where will it on debut ?
Used to watch you in the National's, looking forward to the rest of the build series.
Thanks for watching
Ive just Subscribed, really looking forward to this. ,
Thanks
by the look at the pics in your garage you raced spaceframe nationals. So even with the evolution these cars did lately you can adapt fast. would be different if you last raced a car like early Starlets. All the best from germany. Hope you get a good start.
Thanks for watching, hopefully
me and dad can't wait to see you back out on the raceways good look and I'll be watching all the videos from team 862
Thanks for watching
Been looking forward to this, hope you eventually get the success that your dad had the great 356 Gordon Bland (a big fan in the late 70s / 80s a quick photo of him in your video). Good Luck.
Yes, hopefully, thanks for watching
Your wardrobe isn’t as rich Shane 🤣 I see all the time blue tshirt 😬😂 do you always take out what's at the top? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ha ha, Bland by name!
@@blandsbarn it's good that you have a sense of humor sometimes😅 Boring and annoying 😂
Look forward to watching this shane, use to mechanic my friend in pick ups back when you were in eurocars,
Brilliant, Eurocars were excellent
Love your vlogs Shane as a fan of nationals this is going to be my favourite keep up the good work
Thanks
I’ve been waiting patiently and looking forward to the start of this

I really enjoyed this video. It's to the point. I have a 2005 Z4. I love it. However I have a 2006 with no motor or transmission. I'm going to gut it completely and install I 6.2 ls2 with a 4L80 transmission.
Sounds fun!! Thanks for watching
We learn by our mistakes mate, trail and error sometimes - but having the tenacity to keep going, that’s what it’s all about 👌🏻👍🏻
Its a great car, thanks for watching
Interesting vid as I recently had the bumper off with similar issue of broken plastics and missing fixings. The clips and star washers are quite cheap from BMW. Have you sealed the foam in the door card with anything? Our Z4 had a water leak that soaked the carpets which was due to the foam inner piece (that you cut) in the door, not sealing properly allowing any water that runs through the door to get into the car. The angle of the door means that the foam seal is integral to keeping out water and a pig of a job to dry the car out. The seal in the caps on the back of the headlights also seem to leak if they are removed, which may be the reason for the condensation on the old lights - eventually it will destroy the ballast if xenons are fitted, as it drains water into the 'sealed' box under the headlight.
Sorry for the late reply, i pit it back in place and sealed it with silicone. It wasnt pretty but hoping to avoid what happened with yours even though i didn't know that was somnething that could happen. Thanks for watching.
Did your indicators flash fast and trigger the “bulb out” light after changing the headlights?
No, all worked fine once I actually fitted the bulb! Thanks for watching
@@blandsbarn interesting, I have these and they worked fine for ages and then randomly started getting fast indicators on one side. Had two auto electricians look at it and both have given up trying to find the issue. I’m tempted to just buy new lights and see if that helps
@@lukewatts7693 Some Z4s have 2 indicator bulbs per headlight and when one blows the indicator appears to work but flashes double speed. Take care with the rear cover on the headlight as once open they can let in water. You can reverse the seal to try to get a better contact, add sealant or buy the whole cover including the seal.
What bulb did u have to put in? Was a H1 for lowbeam? R u Happy with the supplied H7 highbeam or would it be good to use h7 philip whites?
Not sure to be honest, I had some in a random pack and can’t remember. Sorry. Thanks for watching
