Vanguard's Top Dividend ETFs in Australia - MUST WATCH FOR 2025!
Vanguard is one of the largest asset managers in the world with over US$10T in global assets under management. In Australia they are the largest issuer of ETFs and managed funds, a popular investment mechanism for many people. It was founded by John C. Bogle who really invented index funds, and enabled millions of people to invest in a low-cost vehicle that tracks a basket of securities.
Over AU$219B is invested in Australian ETFs. In Q3 2024, this grew by AU$12.8B, showing the total ETF assets under management are growing very quickly. Vanguard captures a roughly 28.22% market share in Australia with over AU$61B under management. The next highest are Betashares and iShares with roughly AU$29B under management apiece. So Vanguard is well ahead with their 27 ETFs issued in the Australian market.

Love this just talk a little too fast :)
Nice info bro! thx
Glad it was useful!
🎂This deserves all the likes.🏀'🌟😊🎵Here's to making your dreams a reality through your career.
Super helpful! Solid content. Perhaps slow down a tad bit. It was difficult to constantly have to pause because you talk really fast. Overall, thank you!
Thank you! Will keep that in mind for future videos :)
Hi Brent Excellent videos as usual...I was wondering for kiwis is there any taxation advantage to invest in ASX dividend stocks/ETF compared to USA dividend stocks/ETF?
Hey! 👋 thank you! To the best of my knowledge there isn’t. The only advantage kiwis have when it comes to dividend investing is through local PIE funds. Hope that helps!
Thanks Brent 🙏
This video is super helpful, but still not entirely what I'm hoping to achieve with my spreadsheet. Let's say I wanted a "remaining payment" cell and wanted each month's interest accruement to be added in real time (every month for example). How would I go about doing that?
Sorry I'm not sure I follow. Would this be a cell which captures all instalments/interest with a due date after [current date]?
@ yeah, I suppose so. what I have currently is the estimated total (what I’ll have paid in 10 years including interest) minus what I’ve paid. Which is still useful, but if I pay _over_ my monthly installment then that estimated total is going to change, making the rest of my numbers inaccurate
etoro broker/exchange one should be afraid of and stay away. why ? because you will never get your available funds. eToro will never allow you to get it. they use it, they lure you , and they will not allow to withdraw.
Three weeks ago you recommended vgs and vas, now vgs didn't even make the list?
I don’t make recommendations. This video shows the Vanguard funds with the highest dividends, that one talked about a popular investment portfolio allocation. Two different topics
@@BrentColeman my apologies, I understand now. Thank you for explaining.
No worries! 😊
Not worth investing in Australia any more, the only thing growing are our Taxes.
LOL
Australia is the only country with franking credits.. you just need to be smart in the way you invest and not be a trader
I have got VAS and VHY for my first investment.
Soon to be starting once I renew my license thanks for numbing it down 💯
No problem 👍
I just reached 100k per year with dividends!
Woo! That’s awesome! 🤩
What ETF if any did you use?
Hi Brent Great video. Are there any ETF from vanguard for small and mid caps?
Hey! You have a couple options - Aus small caps you could take a look at VSO, and for global take a look at VISM on the ASX. Hope that helps!
@ thank Brent!
Latest news on manuka honey is David banfield, the fired comvita CEO, drove the business to the ground along with his boy toy andy chen 😂
Haha don't know anything about that, but it's quite a skill to take a $12 stock down to <$1. I was involved in the Manuka Health sale back in 2018, sold for hundreds of millions, Comvita is now down at $60m 😅
Hmm not convinced on this one... VAS and VGS with a 30/70 split
This video is just showing the highest dividend Vanguard ETFs at the present time - portfolio allocation is a separate topic all together
@BrentColeman Agreed...it's part of the picture though. I don't think it pays to look at aspects of an investment in isolation.
Hey, how did you get 3.12% yield for VAS? I'm looking now at the vanguard website and it says 4.56% since inception. All your numbers seem low, am i missing something?
Hey! These numbers are based on the twelve month trailing dividend payments (TTM) and the market price as at 8th December. As the price changes daily, so too would the yield, so day by day the yield will drift up and down. Since inception figures would look at all the dividends since 2009, and annualise those against the 2009 price. Hope that helps!

terrible font choice Brent the 1 and 7 look almost identical, apart from that a great video.
Haha just noticed! Will keep in mind for future videos!
How do you set extra payments to be recurring and show the reduced loan term?
You can just key in each of the recurring payments into the extra payment column, then see the term reduce at the bottom of the schedule. Let me know if that doesn't work!
Very useful video. How do you go about layering in defaults in the amortization?
Sorry not sure what you mean by layering in defaults?
@@BrentColemanThanks for the quick response. I’d like to know how to model a scenario where we would also add a 2% default rate (as an example) to the assumptions you have in your exercise; so 2% of the loan balance is not repaid at the end of the term. Not sure if this would be relevant for home mortgages, but I wonder if this is an assumption that one could be asked to factor in for a different type of loan.
@@MADMIKE-w1z If I understand correctly do you mean a loan balloon at the end of the term? You could calculate payments and interest components throughout the loan with the PMT and IPMT formulas, using a [FV] of 0.02*LoanSum. This would give you a 2% balloon on the loan, and the schedule should not amortise to zero in such a case. Hope I understood that correctly?
Thank you Brent! Credit Cards are a lot to digest. I was bombarded with U.S-influenced companies. So, thank you for explaining the NZ offerings in Layman's terms!
Glad it was helpful! There have been a couple changes since the video was made, as two of the top cards reduced their reward points (TSB and AMEX). ASB also launched new card with no annual fee, which I recently made a video on!
Honestly I would shop at white price it was so cheap but they obviously closed it down
Amazing video. When it comes to cost of living (rent, groceries, entertainment), how would you say NZ fares?
It's certainly on the higher end - when I went to the US and Dubai however, NZ definitely comes in cheaper. Numbeo can be a great resource (most of the time!) for comparing! www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/
Thank you! 👏👏👏
Is Hatch good for DCA? Would Hatch be on disadvantage with the exchange rate fees and exchange rate fluctuations if compared with Sharesis?
It depends how much you're investing. You'd need to calculate the fees under both and work out which is better. With Sharesies, they have their subscription plans which could make sense for dollar coast averaging and auto-investing.
@@BrentColeman already in sharesies but thinking of Hatch now. Probably doing $50 per forthnightly is it still worth doing Hatch? Thinking of VOO.
Can you withdraw your gold bullion
Hey! Goldie don't offer this option as they hold their bullion in 1KG bars, split into fractional 0.1g units. You can sell your portion at the prevailing rate as you wish.

Why not consider using Interactive Brokers? The fees on Sharesies are extremely high-1.9% transaction fee? That’s a significant markup!
Very informative….however, while we should and will watch shorter period returns,……when we retire, its the long term returns only that count…..so,….I’m wondering why you avoid emphasising the top performers for the 10 year period…..which is really the only important one…..And yes, some providers haven’t been going 10 years, and so the 5 year period will be the one to look at .

Hi Brent, could i request you to make a video on NZ current job market, how anyone would search jobs and some directions towards what to do and avoid when you first come to NZ please
Just a heads up, if you're coming to NZ, our housing market is in the toilet, prices are through the roof (more than most western countries), and rents are too, with heavy competition with other renters. Maybe it's better then where you are, maybe not, I would check. Also our job market is very slow at the moment too. Probably the worst time to come to NZ, but best of luck :)
Hey! The video covers most points, but to look for jobs Trademe and Seek are common websites to search on. Employers here are looking mainly for skill sets not already in the country, so make sure you have skills that command a premium in market
@@BrentColeman Thank you Brent for your reply, are there any hidden website for job search. Could I request you to please guide me to find some of the best and well know recruitment agencies please. I did an exhaustive search, but they cater for Non-IT jobs. Please help and suggest
@@sushilgul not to my understanding, Trademe and Seek are the most popular.
Why houses are built out of wood rather than concrete ?
Up until 200 years ago, New Zealand was covered in vast construction hardwoods like Kauri, and even today has a massive logging sector. Wood also holds up better during earthquakes, it insulates better, and probably a few other reasons I'm not sure of!
Great Video and training!!! I would like to create a balloon on a mortgage note. It is 20yr term with a 4yr balloon. Would the [future_value] be in years or in months?
Hey! I'm not quite clear here. So the loan is amortising over 20 years, but there will be a larger than normal instalment after four years? The [future value] is only at the end of the loan. You'll need to create a 20 year schedule, and then include an extra payment after 4 years, and you'll see the term of your loan shorten. Please let me know if that wasn't quite right for what you're trying to recreate.
In india were you able to use a upi account ?
I just used my Wise Visa Card in Mumbai, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Kolkata and Indore. PayTM would have been useful!
