This will be my next credit card for my day to day expenses. I'm already with ASB so a bonus. Thanks Brent.

Is an amazing rate for a CC, but idk about using it daily. I'll stick with my dosh card (for $10/m cashback) and maybe start using debut for over $1000 spend.
Though I could use this card for traveling locally, when I get back to that.

Which amex do you personally use? And is amex the only other CC you use?

Hey! I use the Airpoints Platinum card. With my spending and the $70:1AP rate of return I definitely make full use of it each year. The airport lounges and other benefits are useful too

@@BrentColeman I just got my Airpoints platinum card approved today. Thanks to you and your guidance. :) apart from daily groceries, petrol, etc and the airpoints mall website, any other way of making more points on this card?

Why use a credit card if there are no rewards?

A few reasons. Credit cards allow you to of course defer cash outflows, which can be handy before receiving a paycheck. It’s also a layer of security, you’re spending the banks money not yours, so if there’s a fraudulent charge it’s their problem to address. When checking into hotels, they require a pre-authorisation. Using a debit card usually results in a pending charge over your cash, which can take weeks after to release in some cases (MSocial in Auckland gave me a bad experience with this in 2018 essentially locking $400 of my own cash for a couple weeks). These are just a few reasons why I opted into the card as an AMEX backup (which does have rewards).
