Anything inside a pod that is installed on Prospector can be sold at a refinery. But I haven't tried it after storing the pod in the freight elevator.

Also the laser sight follows the way the weapon's facing. If you for example, raise the weapon in order to reload (e.g. AK-12), the laser sight will follow all the way through, facing up.

This is still accurate as of today and 3.24.3. I lost 3 pods through ther floor. Stand closer to the pod in the floor. Tractor pull to the left, gently and roll the mouse wheel towards you gently. That seemed to help for me, but was not a guarantee.
its more or less 8 years way...only 6 years will take to finish all the ships that are not in the game yet.. balance, major optimization .... 10 years more likely

They propably didn't work more on it than the last year. :D They showed like 10% of a concept, talked about lots of more stuff behind it etc. Nothings ready, far from finished or even usable. Gotta wait at least 2 more years for it to be mentioned again. Just don't take anything from it ... its far away, will change lots, if it even makes it in 1.0 - because that is what they actually said at citizencon with the 1.0 panel. "we will further develop the game" can mean that some features like base building and starbase building won't be in at launch, but comes afterwards. :D Don't compare it to rust or the forest, thats some extremely different stuff. It was never about your freedom of creativity, it was about efficiency and fitting into the lore and the universe. And that is: putting together blueprints of prefab modules. Like all the other space stations and outposts. Better compare it to Starfield ... looked certainly like it. Or Subnautica maybe. The concept of working together as a group/org looked a lot like foxhole. Most things will give use for something. refining, mining, transportation of goods, might being able to create a hideout - just wait till somebody build his base in a deep cave. That won't work propably.
I think the same way. They talked a lot about the distant future in 1.0, but the base-building panel is something that is expected to be out before 1.0, was really brief. So, either they have not concluded on the next steps, so they tried to hide and don't have to cover up when changed, or they just haven't dug far enough in the base building.
I honestly agree with your take, I feel the same way - it's like base building in starfield, you quickly realise every player's base looks the same with some variations. Of course there needs to be a Tier 1 base building so I don't mind the prefabs to start out with, but like you I hope they offer some ways of allowing more creativity and freedom in the building process
I agree it would be nice to have a free build feature but that not to say they won’t have that in the future. I think it’s fine that they push this out asap and let us have the feature and maybe “build” out the tech in the future to where we cold have some more functionality and flexibility later on
I really hope they come up with new ideas in the future. And, of course, my whole point is based on what we know at the moment.

I feel you mate. I think they could have revealed more about the future of the base building. Like, they talked for hours about 1.0 and things that will probably not be in-game in the next 6/7 years, but they stopped at base building panel by only showing three variants. That makes me worry about it.
They could easily just allow you to design your own modules, name them and add them to your list of modules. Then you can plop them down like normal modules. That would solve the whole issue. Well that and adding maybe fences or walls with ground vehicles or tools or something

I'm not sure the comparison to Rust makes sense here, or at least it is premature to draw conclusions given that we don't have the full picture from CIG. SC is not a game about base building, base building is a progression incentive among others. But before judging that pre-built modules aren't fun (spoiler, Starfield players seem to enjoy base building there, which is exactly based on pre-built modules), it'd be best to get the full experience first. Keep in mind that with decals (customising colors, styles, labels), furniture, equipment and the combinatorials how selecting many modules among long lists of modules will all contribute to variety. A 'build by hand anything' feature would be a perfect example of feature creep. On paper may be awesome but would push the releasability of SC even further in the future. Anyway, when it comes to base building the construction part of it is just a narrow aspect of gameplay among many others (and we don't know yet how really it will work). How long it takes to grind the resources, how well they can be bases can be protected, how much of a social space they become, how they build up the game world: all these aspects and more will matter too.
I agree that it is not a core part, but it will be a gameplay loop. Because you have to feed bases with resources to keep them operating. I think the current approach will not give players enough reasons to keep maintaining their bases in the long run. Because it doesn't give them any unique personality in the world. And keep in mind Starfield is single-player but Star Citizen is MMO. People do like to stand out from others in MMO games, and base building is one means of that. I don't want something at the level of Rust, but at least let us have more modules on the exterior.
@@kingwolf3644 let's see how diverse the sets are, and also if they keep extending the library after launch too...but the motivation for maintaining bases will be resource extraction and crafting, as well as general org management (e.g. build and expand a military basis for a mil org)

Talking about this in this way is like comparing ship building and customization in Space Engineers to the ships in Star Citizen. Building and customizing every detail of your environment is not the intent of Star Citizen. So, if it does not work for you, there are games that do fit this niche. I won't disagree that CIG has taken forever to get much done, but I am not going to shit on them for the type of game they are developing. It is not a base or ship builder. It is a space exploration and combat game.
I didn't really shit on them. I just think this approach is much more limited than what it should be. Even for an MMO game base building is not a core part of the gameplay. Bases are just a means to leave your mark on this game. All I'm saying is that you can't leave your mark with all these limitations. It could've had a better variety. (I'm talking about what we saw, not the future)
@@kingwolf3644 Let's look at a recent MMO with base building - ESO. They have pre-established houses/buildings you can buy. Then you can decorate them how you want. Star Citizen is doing essentially the same thing.
Once human is free and has better base building and customization. Even vanilla fallout 4 has better base building. The problem is that they add basic stuff and people go like oh my God this is the best thing they added like you’re not able to criticize
Once Human was also one of the games I wanted to mention in the video. And it's also an MMO. I think the reason why they remain basic in base-building is that they want to do so much stuff at the same time. So, none of them really go deep enough. I mean, you can see it from quest designs. No twists, no innovative. Go to A, kill enemies, do X, and leave. I wish the game would launch with only two systems but deeper gameplay mechanics. Stanton itself is the biggest thing in gaming ever, but look how empty it is.

I don't get why people are so eager to buy everything in this game with real money. Yes, it helps to fund the project, but it also makes them waste money on a 1:1 version of Hornet at CitizenCon.

I see what you mean, it's very basic and just ,slap this model here which is the bare bones of a base building, having it where you can build it your way would be nice, what I CIG could do is keep the basic base building for those that want a simple base building, but have a place you can go to that let's you build a preset, this you can build it on an area and build it the way you want, once done you can save it a s a preset, maybe even share it for other players, that way when you build a place, you can use this preset you made and place it down that feels like it's yours. It is important for things like this to let people have CIG presets, as well as letting others that want to build something themselves have the option to, well letting people share their ideas with others. It will also be good for those to make their Org buildings have a style and look, for someone like me I love the raider scrappy look so I would make something scrappy, but I would also like to mix other styles with it, and for my Org come up with a design that we can feel represents us and also makes it easy for us to identify bases when flying over.
This is the best suggestion I've read so far. A sandbox program to let you go creative with bases on a terminal and then build it entirely on land would be perfect. It feeds creativity without hurting performance. Of course, you will still get limitations on that program, but still, you can leave your mark and give your base some identity.
Even having base building in a game like SC is extremely amazing in its own right. Especially at its entry level into the verse. In time it will grow to unimaginable heights
The building system in rust is actually trash. Thank god CIG didn't go for that, it's all so damn ugly and cheap looking.
CIG sells distractions in the hopes of extending the ability of selling us ships. IMO Base building will never come because they will overengineer the offering which will never be achieved for another 5-8 years.
I think prefab building is better then free building, because now we don't have to worry about ugly bases everywhere, not to mention its probably easier on the servers.
