Tuba Excerpt - Under the Double Eagle
Here's a fun two-step march. Beginning in 1903, Under the Double Eagle March was recorded by the Sousa Band four times before Wagner’s death in 1908. Like Sousa’s Washington Post and numerous other marches around the turn of the century, this march has probably motivated more dancers than marchers. It has been used by country and western fiddlers in the U.S. for so long that many believe the composer was from Nashville, Tennessee.

Snedecor Low Etude VIII (For Two Tubas)

I've been trying to keep myself busy this summer with little projects that keep me in shape and playing a lot, this being one of them. This is a duet between Vol. I No. VIII and Vol. II Etude 8 from Phil Snedecor's "Low Etudes for Tuba" and "Low(er) Etudes for Tuba," respectively. I've included music at the bottom of the screen to make it easier to follow along with what I'm playing. The tuba o...

This is a great and exciting march that I don’t believe gets played very often. This march was originally published in 1895, and has only seen rare performances in its more than 120 years of existence. “In addition to its suitability for passes-in-review and street parades, Bombasto proved to be extremely popular as entry and exit music during the vaudeville and silent-film era. Like many of Fa...

This march isn't particularly hard, but it does have a couple of tricky runs. Still, a fun and somewhat active bass line to play along to. I'm also trying out some video editing to make the music on the screen a little easier to follow. These videos are a lot of fun to make and I really enjoy putting them together! I've never been one to post my own playing anywhere and I'm very much someone who "hides" my playing as if it is something that isn't ready to be heard. However, a large majority of the content that I consume on TH-cam and other platforms is other musicians, especially tuba players, playing their own instruments. The contrast between those two ideas is ironic. Why wouldn't I share my own playin...

Thank you, greetings from Czech republic, Europe👍
Where did you find the sheet music ?
FANTASTIC!!! Now I'm motivated to get my tuba and play!
peak music right here
They better live that to the Bass Guitar! 😮 I know he’s gonna be done after a Pentecostal Service! 😂
Very nice hunterkane excellent trombone skills!
0:52 My favorite part!
Nossa!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤😍😍😍😍😍😍
One of my favorite wind ensemble pieces I’ve played
@@cpg2198 hey there stranger
@ hey there
Omg I saw this live at Stephen f Austin
I’m actually jealous
I’m doing this same thing!
Nice!
How do you get your double tounging so good?
For me, I let the air do the work. A steady airstream goes a long way for brass players.
Very good! I would personally prefer the marcati in the solo to be a little bit more pronounced, i.e., a little louder beginning and a little more decay. Keep it going!
Mellow. Stentorian. Kudos.
The legend is back 🙌
Very, very TOP!! and beautiful staccato 👌🏻👏🏻
Is the camera inverted? Because I’m a fellow tuba player(but very young) and from what I know people dont play with their left hand. And the mouthpiece is on the left side but the valves are on the bottom.
camera is inverted.
@ what model tuba do you have? I have been watching your content for about a week now and I really enjoy it! The tuba I have right now is kinda old and I don’t know the model. Any specific model recommendations?
@@gugmiowas1584 Thanks for watching! I play on a Gronitz PCK. It's a larger C tuba. I love most of the Meinl Weston and B&S C tubas, both piston and rotor. I'm not sure what your situation is, but I would recommend talking to a private teacher about tuba models!
I checked my model. It is an esson 2-20 I believe
Sem furo, sem falhas, perfeito...❤
Is there a way to use this sheet music?
What type of tuba is this? C tuba?
Yup!
Where do you find the sheet music for this

@@iamhunterkane oh my goodness, thank you so much.
Nice
Hey your videos are amazing i really hope you would consider making more they are so much fun to watch and inspiring
Thanks for saying that, made my day. I do want to make more videos, it’s just finding the time to make them (in school currently).
Bravissssimo!!!!
Excellent tone on that low register!
SUPERB!!!
is that a CC tuba??
@@jamiploe129 yup!
@iamhunterkane that's epic!! i figured since i was following the fingerings along with the music and it didn't match up with a BBb tuba so i figured out it was a CC. if i may ask, how do you like it any better than a regular BBb tuba, and would you recommend buying one?
@@jamiploe129 I love playing CC tuba. These days it matters less what contrabass tuba you play (BBb or CC) and more about what kind of sound you prefer. For me, I just enjoy playing CC more than BBb mainly because CC tuba is easier to play in legato sections (slurring between partial breaks) and, for me, it just has more clarity in the sound. I can appreciate the presence and core of a good BBb tuba, though, it just takes a bit more effort to achieve similar clarity to CC tuba.
@@iamhunterkane i've recently been considering buying one (if only i had the money 😔)
is it possible for that you could scan the tuba part for this and upload it somewhere? i can't find the boyer-lake version anywhere

Its sounds to be about 3 french horns on the studio version
I played this in the Boise Community Band for our last concert of the season
What’s he doing with his left hand?
Moving tuning slides to keep the notes in tune, sometimes the valves aren't enough so pulling out the slides help it stay I'm tune
th-cam.com/video/q136r8bUgsY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1ICYe6sjm-XcTxnN ⏫️Listen to the sousaphone/ tuba @1:01. That's my old High School Band. I was the low brass section leader and there were only two Sousaphon/Tuba players. I told the other tubist not to perform during competion due to the inability to perform the figure correctly 😅🎶📯🇺🇸 #Oorah🇺🇸
Sixteenth notes must be quicker, quarter note longer 🎶📯🇺🇸
Can you please play Mephistopheles and Eagles Squadron
You’ve got such a beautiful sound brother god damn
Tuba in Bb?? Or C?? Model?
Tuba in C, this is a Gronitz PCK
Omg

Wow, you are amazing. This seems difficult.
Awesome
Needs to open his embouchure a bit. It would give him a rounder sound. Speaking as a former Bb tuba player (over 30 yrs).
OMG! you made the camera vibrate during the low forte parts! 😅 also, very nicely done.
It looks like you favor the lower part of your embochure over the upper which is opposite for me. Not knock on you just an observation
This is a lot of lower register playing, which is where I tend to favor the lower portion of my embouchure, which is true for a lot of other tuba players in this register.
You sound great man!! Great low register 💪
Do you have the music for this? I'd like to try it out!
It is online for free probably
Nice!
What key is your horn? E flat is usually first valve but not on your horn.
This horn is in C
